Mike purchased this House in 2010
Why Mike chose Berkeley
We fell in love with this property almost 6 years ago due to its incredible location and the great amenities it has to offer. At the time the Highlands and Berkeley area was undergoing it's amazing transformation into the hot spot it is today.

Clean, well equipped. Kind hosts.
We ended up not needing a place to stay, since a schedule change enabled us to stay in our daughter’s home. The hosts could not have been more kind and cooperative. We walked through the home to see whether we would stay if the need arose in the future. Absolutely!
Cute House that's great for family stay
Our family with 3 boys and a dog were looking for a temporary house while we relocated to Denver. We wanted a place to stay that was furnished for a couple months while we looked for a house to buy. This house was the perfect setup for us. Yes, it's definitely a bit small for 5 people + a dog (it's 750 SF!). But it was clean, nice, in a good neighborhood where lots of other people were walking around constantly with dogs and kids, and centrally located right near downtown. We were grateful for a backyard to let the dog out.
The owner was great to work with - at first we thought we might need the house longer than the lease, then we ended up finding a house before the lease term and he worked with us and was very fair when we were discussing both extending the lease at one point as well as when we ended it early. He was very responsive when we requested more sheets and towels and was great to work with overall.
I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for something different than a hotel - it's about 100 years old so it has some nice charm and a few quirks but it's well maintained and was great to stay in. I can't overstate how nice the location was both having a lake & park a few blocks away, being near tons of restaurants, bars, shopping, and also close to downtown.
Fantastic location, renovations, but some issues
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a couple months in the summer. The location is great! We loved being able to walk to the lake with our dog every evening to see the sunset. There's a great dog park there. Tennyson St. is awesome too, lots of good restaurants and things to do.
While Mike was really responsive to our problems, we had several of them during our short stay. The cleaners didn't do the greatest job before we got there, which wasn't a welcoming start to the summer. The toilet didn't flush, the front door wouldn't lock, window screens were ripped, the shower pole was being held up with a wad of toilet paper - all things that were quickly addressed, but for the price we paid, we'd hoped we wouldn't have to report these problems before they were fixed. Not the greatest quality control.
Also not the best place for bug phobias if staying in the summer. We encountered lots of spiders and other critters during our stay. This was another thing Mike addressed during our stay by sending out the exterminators without hesitation, but hopefully in the future it can be dealt with more proactively.
And finally be advised that this is not the best house for tall people. The washer/dryer are in a small, unfinished basement, and you'll need to duck your head to get down there and you won't be able to stand up straight if you're over 6' or so. The washer and dryer could not be run simultaneously during our stay our they would cut out mid-cycle, but it sounded like this problem was close to being fixed.
Despite some quirks, I'd still certainly recommend the house and neighborhood.
This home was in the perfect location for our family vacation. My husband and I were with our 20 month old daughter and we were able to walk to parks, shops, cafes, bars, etc. We were also an easy drive to pretty much anywhere. The neighborhood was extremely family friendly with lots of families out walking with kids and pets. We were able to sit on the front porch and back patio and enjoy the beautiful weather.
The house size was perfect and our daughter was able to have her own room. The washer and dryer was a great touch and the kitchen was stocked with any needed utensils and cookware.
My only issues were that the shower curtain fell constantly (it would slip on the wet tiles) and there were only two towels (and no washcloths) for the three of us.
We had a great stay and it provided our family with much more space than a hotel room. I would definitely recommend this rental!
Ideal Central location- a short 4 block walk to shops and restaurants at Tennyson Street. A short bike ride to downtown Denver/LODO (3.5 miles) & LOHI (2.5 miles). Right in the heart of all that Denver has to offer: performing arts complex, museums, botanic gardens, sports complexes, outdoor parks, fine dining, amusement parks, shopping and more! 45 Minutes to the mountains and 1.5 hours to ski resorts.
