About Sarah Lowe

We've lived in Eugene for the past twenty four years. We currently live on the upper floor of the house where we raised our two children (now 26 and 30). The rental property is on the bottom floor of the house and easily accesses the patio and garden.

Sarah Lowe purchased this house in 1991

Why Sarah Lowe chose Fairmont

We fell in love with this house (which was built in 1939) the first time we saw it. Nobody was living in it at the time and the yard was overgrown with tall grass and thistles, but the charm and beautiful design, shone through.

Before we bought the property the lower part of the house (which contains the rental) was a place where the previous owners kept their boat (hence the high ceilings). Later we remodeled it and used it as a master bedroom. Recently it has become a VRBO rental!

What makes this house unique

We've enjoyed being able to grow vegetables and fruit on our property's one half acre and we've appreciated our property's easy access to lovely Hendricks Park, the Willamette River, schools, restaurants, museums and stores. Being able to walk or ride our bikes downtown (three miles) is a great benefit to our home's location.

Soothing garden retreat in the hills

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough good things about our stay at Sarah and David's charming bungalow. The pictures, while accurate, cannot convey the architectural craftmanship and roominess of this gem of a rental. You immediately get the sense that attention to detail is of the utmost importance here: from inviting linens, simple and soothing decor and pops of colorful artwork to a fully functioning efficiency kitchen with granite counter top, stainless steel hardware and clever custom drawers. We were pleasantly surprised to find the mini frig stocked with almond milk, creamers (soy and regular), yogurt and sparkling water, and fresh fruit, coffee and cereal in the pantry. The bathroom, likewise, was very clean with lots of towels and toiletries should you forget something. We loved the private patio, and whimsical garden with unique sculptures and lots of seating to enjoy the peace and serenity. This home is close to Hendricks Park and a short drive down the hill to U. of O. We came for our daughter's UO graduation, and found this property to be perfect for our comings and goings over the four days. We loved everything about this place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. We wish we had known about Sarah and David's place BEFORE our daughter graduated - we would have been repeat visitors!

Loved everything about this property!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent four delightful nights at this charming Mediterranean style apartment surrounded by lovely gardens, creating an Italian villa-ish vibe. The space was private, super clean and had everything we needed. The obviously affluent neighborhood is quiet yet located conveniently central. And we loved the hosts - they were so friendly and accommodating. There’s no question that we would absolutely stay here again!

Nice location. Noisy from above

  • 3 of 5

The setting is great. Loved the quiet and green neighborhood. The noises from the activities of the owners above did have a negative impact, though.

Owner's Response: Hi , Sorry about being a little noisy on Saturday morning. We were getting ready to go away for the weekend that morning so there was a lot more activity and walking around than usual. I'm glad you enjoyed the location and neighborhood. Thanks for the feedback!

Sweet spot in beautiful neighborhood!

Perfect location in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to walk into campus at U of O. The pretty garden patio area was a nice area to relax at the end of the day. We loved our space. Thanks Sarah for accommodating my sister in law!

Comfortable and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

The suite was much bigger than the pictures make it look, and very creatively designed. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well because it was so quiet. Sara also provided yogurt, fruit, creamer, awesome coffee, oatmeal and almond milk-such a nice touch! If needed, she also had some toiletries available. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
