A short path from our driveway takes you down to the south facing private entrance of our daylight basement suite. The bed and bathroom are separated from the kitchenette and sitting area. High ceilings, oak and tile floors, white plaster walls, a wood stove and a grape arbor over the main entrance, all come together to create an inspiring home away from home. Our house sits on one half acre and as a guest you are welcome to access the yard, including the organic garden with its berries and greens (when in season).

About Sarah Lowe
We've lived in Eugene for the past twenty four years. We currently live on the upper floor of the house where we raised our two children (now 26 and 30). The rental property is on the bottom floor of the house and easily accesses the patio and garden.
Sarah Lowe purchased this House in 1991
Why Sarah Lowe chose Fairmont
We fell in love with this house (which was built in 1939) the first time we saw it. Nobody was living in it at the time and the yard was overgrown with tall grass and thistles, but the charm and beautiful design, shone through. Before we bought the property the lower part of the house (which contains the rental) was a place where the previous owners kept their boat (hence the high ceilings). Later we remodeled it and used it as a master bedroom. Recently it has become a VRBO rental!
What makes this House unique
We've enjoyed being able to grow vegetables and fruit on our property's one half acre and we've appreciated our property's easy access to lovely Hendricks Park, the Willamette River, schools, restaurants, museums and stores. Being able to walk or ride our bikes downtown (three miles) is a great benefit to our home's location.

Loved everything about this property!
My husband and I spent four delightful nights at this charming Mediterranean style apartment surrounded by lovely gardens, creating an Italian villa-ish vibe. The space was private, super clean and had everything we needed. The obviously affluent neighborhood is quiet yet located conveniently central. And we loved the hosts - they were so friendly and accommodating. There’s no question that we would absolutely stay here again!
Thanks so much!
We so enjoyed meeting you both and look forward to your return some day!
Nice location. Noisy from above
The setting is great. Loved the quiet and green neighborhood. The noises from the activities of the owners above did have a negative impact, though.
Sorry about being a little noisy on Saturday morning. We were getting ready to go away for the weekend that morning so there was a lot more activity and walking around than usual.
I'm glad you enjoyed the location and neighborhood.
Thanks for the feedback!
Sweet spot in beautiful neighborhood!
Perfect location in a quiet neighborhood but close enough to walk into campus at U of O. The pretty garden patio area was a nice area to relax at the end of the day. We loved our space. Thanks Sarah for accommodating my sister in law!
I'm so glad our place worked well for you! Please stay with us again if you're ever in our area.
Super great location & hospitality!
Thank you Sarah - we enjoyed our stay. It was quiet, clean and very convenient to Hayward Field and surrounding restaurants. We will see you again during football season!
Thanks so much. I'm glad our place was convenient for your activities around Hayward Field. We look forward to having you both back during football season!
Comfortable and Quiet
The suite was much bigger than the pictures make it look, and very creatively designed. The bed was very comfortable, and I slept well because it was so quiet. Sara also provided yogurt, fruit, creamer, awesome coffee, oatmeal and almond milk-such a nice touch! If needed, she also had some toiletries available. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Thank you for visiting! I hope your time in Eugene with your daughter was great.
Please stay with us again.
Beautiful, well maintained property and helpful, courteous VRBO hosts.
Peaceful property in the hills above Eugene. I had my windows open each night. Comfy bed, functional living space and great outdoor seating. I did not rent a car and thus chose to walk to downtown, campus and Autzen. Only time I needed a taxi was to and from the airport.
So nice to meet you. I'm glad you were able to get around so easily from our place.
Please stay again sometime!
Outside our front door is easy walking access to the University of Oregon (Hayward Field and Autzen Stadium), eighty acre Hendricks Park (with its walking trails, Rhododendron Garden and forest) Pre's Rock, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History, the Laurelwood Golf Course, Restaurants and markets.
The Willamette River is two miles from our house and we often walk or ride our bikes down the river path to downtown Eugene with its many restaurants, cafes, shops and entertainment venues such as the Hult Center and The Shedd. The Saturday Market (the oldest open air crafts market in the U.S.) is held every Saturday downtown from April through mid-November.
