About Michael & Ashley VanSloten
We are a young couple from the Sault Sainte Marie area. Michael is currently a student Pilot at Northwestern College and is employed at Cherry Capital Airport. Ashley graduated from Lake Superior State University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement and is a Sheriff Deputy at Kalkaska County Sheriff's Office. We moved to Traverse City, Michigan in August of 2016. Although, we frequently return to the Upper Peninsula, we are able to maintain our home with the help of our family.

We think this is the best rental in the area.
The house is spacious and comfortable. We have rented alot of houses over the years. This house is one we rented last year, this year and plan on next year. The location is great. It is quiet and the lake is awesome. I agree with others that there are a couple things like a step outside the sliding door and maybe some finish molding on the floor but those are such minor things. Overall it is a great house to spend time if you want to just hang out.It is very clean which is very important to me. Michael and Ashley are really nice and ready to jump on any issues that might come up. I don't think you can ask for much more. Thanks Michael and Ashley!! Don and Cindy N
Cindy and Don,
We are so glad you enjoy staying at our rental! We agree that there are some minor updating that needs to be done. Hopefully this winter when the house is not full of people. :) We look forward to seeing you next summer but you are welcome anytime! Thanks again!

Our stay in Kinross, MI
We enjoyed our stay in Kinross, MI and this lake house, as our home away from home. Very clean and comfortable. Would stay here again and again.

Quality family cabin in the U.P.
Overall a nice little cabin on the lake. Very easy on and off I-75 access. Close to the Soo about 15 miles south.
The house could have a better house number identification when driving in for the first time. The numbers are on the detached garage and would be better served on the house itself. The yard was a nice size right on the lake and there is a fire pit down by the lake. The sunsets out there are beautiful as others had commented.
The house was an adequate size. Had a nice floor plan, dividing the house into 2 bedrooms and 1 bath on each side with a shared living/dining area and kitchen. This would be nice for large family or 2 separate families to share with privacy. Concrete floors throughout but they were heated. Could use some finish work with shoe and trim in the house for a more finished look. Some of the lights did not work and the outlets/switches were a bit of a hodgepodge of colors. The bathrooms have been recently remodeled and were clean. The towels did smell of mildew but could be washed in the washer/dryer. The heat lamps in the open shower did not function properly. They would only stay on for about 2 minutes and shut off.
The 4 bedrooms were all of good size with ceiling fans. Linens are clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. One of the bedroom lights did not work. Some of the windows were missing screens and the sliding glass doors would also benefit from screens to help keep the place cooler as there is no central air.
Kitchen was spacious with ample counter and storage space. Most of the kitchen necessities you need are already there. The dishes are a hodgepodge collection but with a rental, I guess you can understand this. Please consider even a cheap complete dinner set of 4 for $30.00 or something just to give it a higher quality feel to your guests.
Overall this was a very nice diamond in the rough place to stay in the U.P. I feel like with a few cosmetic improvements this would be a beautiful gem to come back to again and again for families large or small.
We enjoyed it
The house was nicely laid out. The lake was a fishing frenzy for the little ones and the paddle boat made a hilarious memory ☺️ The sunsets were beautiful too.
We stayed from 8/5-8/11, and had a wonderful experience! The house is very nice and cozy. The kids enjoyed fishing and using the paddle boat. We will definitely book another stay here for next year. 😍
This home is located within a mile of I-75 and the Chippewa County International Airport. It is a all season home with a beautiful lake for summer activities and located close to snowmobile trails for the winter enthusiasts.
