Overview

About the property

5 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath, Large Chefs Kitchen, Fireplace, Gameroom, Rustic Cabin

KT Cabin is a vacation rental for social adventurers in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. The Cabin is a comfortable house that is designed to accommodate large families right in the village of East Burke. Four large bedrooms plus a sleeping loft provide ample accommodation for the whole crew but the heart of the house is the common room. Timbered cathedral ceilings evoke the feelings of a National Park Lodge. Whether sitting comfortably around the roaring fireplace or clustered around the large dinning table, the room is a great backdrop for you to share your stories about your day on the trails. A large kitchen allows everybody to be a cook. Don't like doing your own cooking? A short walk to town provides plenty of menu options.

Being in Vermont is all about the outdoors so this house has plenty of outdoor options. A large deck and cooking area provide space to relax and an outdoor fire pit is the perfect place to unwind after riding. There is even a sledding hill for the kids in winter. KT Cabin is owned by avid mountain bikers, skiers and long time members of Kingdom Trails. Enjoy this unique house that is designed for fun and relaxation.

About Tom Grimble

This house is owned by Tom and Claire Grimble. We are mountain bikers and skiers who have been visiting East Burke for 20 years. We enjoy vacationing in Burke with our middle school daughter and with large groups of friends. We enjoy hosting a house full of people and wanted to share the house with others who will use it in a similar way.

Tom is the former president of the New England Mountain Bike Association and has been a dedicated advocate and trail builder. Professionally, Tom is an Architect and enjoyed designing KT Cabin to be a comfortable place for families to gather.

Claire is the former treasurer for the Greater Boston Chapter of NEMBA and has been involved in introducing women and kids to mountain biking.

Tom Grimble purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Tom Grimble chose East Burke

KT Cabin is the perfect base camp for your Kingdom Trails vacation because of it's location. Located within walking distance of the village the house is close to all the action. Set back from the road, the house is private and has plenty of outdoor space for recreation. The best thing about the house though is that at the end of a long day of riding, it is all down hill to the house.

What makes this cabin unique

This house is large enough to fit your whole family and has all the comforts you would expect in your own home.

Guests can request a late check out (for an additional $100). If available, the check out time will be extended to 4pm.

A perfect spot for family and mountain biking friends

  • 5 of 5

KTCabin was a perfect venue for our friends and family to celebrate a milestone birthday. The owners have put a lot of care and pride in this property with high-quality finishes and thoughtful inclusions and it exceeded everyone's expectations.

Both baths have been recently updated with tile surround and glass fronts. The upstairs bath is particularly special with dual heads and body spray options– straight out of a high-end spa. There were full dispensers of bod- soap, conditioner, and shampoo available in the showers. Plenty of bath towels are provided and very appropriate for a rental property, bring your own if you are particular or want the full spa experience.

Speaking of baths, the bike wash station outside was very helpful in keeping our bikes clean during the weekend that had some rain. The rear overhang of the roof is generous enough to keep bikes dry in light to moderate showers, and there is also the locking bike shed available as well.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and make meals for our large group. There is a second fridge downstairs in the utility room for overflow food. Having access to the washer and dryer was very helpful to keep our riding gear clean and dry.

Rt114 is a bit busier than one might think so there is some road noise but the house is set back far enough from the road and the large birch tree in front break up the view and noise a bit.

The large and level backyard would allow for any number of yard games to be played and we used the firepit 2 of 3 nights as well.

With so many great trails at KT it is easy to spend a lot of time in the saddle. I'd recommend riders get up and at'em in the AM in order to fully enjoy all the cabin has to offer in the late afternoon. It's too nice to just be a bunkhouse.

Folks in the party were already talking about a winter weekend as we left and it seems the house would work just as well for winter fun as it does in the summer.*

We were very happy with the cabin and the value of this property. Would rent again and recommend highly to others.

*I skied Burke for the first time last winter and found it to be a great mountain, with nice vertical and pitch but without the crowds of VTs major resorts. Jay Peak is my favorite, the KT Cabin would make a great home base to ski both of these classic VT ski areas.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Mountain bike Trip with my entire family. The location was perfect. I would ride early in the morning and get back by the time my kids woke up. Seconds from the trail head. The house is in excellent condition. Plenty of games for kids, sleeping space, outdoor games, fire pit et Cetera.Definitely coming back for another visit.

Weekend riding Kingdom Traila

  • 4 of 5

The house is set back from the road about 100 yards and is situated very close to the KT visitors center. The owner was easy to deal with and provided us all the information we needed for an easy stay in the house. The house is laid out nicely and had plenty of room for 6 adults to hang out and relax comfortably. It was clean and well supplied. Some notable amenities: locking bike shed (with repair stand and some tools), linens, coffee filters, paper towels, soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the showers, fire pit with plenty of wood. This house is an ideal location to access the Kingdom Trail network and I plan on staying again in the future.
