Overview

About the property

Walk to all downtown Savannah has to offer by staying in this historic home gem!

Harrison House is a fully renovated, historic home full of new appointments. You'll be staying in one of the oldest homes on the east side of Savannah! Originally built for Mr. William T. Harrison in 1875, our home was lovingly restored by George, an award-winning historic preservationist.

Harrison House has 4 bedrooms (one is a converted trunk room) all with high-end, quality mattresses. No inconvenience of a pull-out sofa, cot / air mattress like many other listings. The home has a fully equipped kitchen. Also a full-size washer/dryer is conveniently located upstairs on the same floor with the bedrooms.

The Victorian District was named among the Top Ten Neighborhoods in the US by the American Planning Association. Our neighborhood is also within the up-and-coming SOFO district (South of Forsyth Park) thanks to the growing number of trendy bars, restaurants and shops locating to this transitional neighborhood. Some not used to Savannah's demographics may be out of their element, but we think the demographics of Savannah make it what it is: diversity, great food and wonderful cultural festivals...

Big and beautiful Forsyth Park, only a couple blocks away, features Savannah's best Farmer's Market every Saturday morning, as well as regular festivals, sports, and musical performances. This 30 acre park is the biggest in Savannah's historic district.

Brighter Day, our time-honored neighborhood natural food store & Kroger, a full service grocery store, as well as the eternally-happening Sentient Bean coffee shop and La Chai wine bar are within easy walking distance, as is all that downtown Savannah offers! Stay on our meter-free street and enjoy the flavor of our historic, up and coming neighborhood, while taking strolls in romantic Forsyth Park. Within just a few minutes' walk- you're on the free shuttle that takes you throughout downtown. And don't leave town without experiencing the fun of taking a PediCab out to dinner.

Beautiful Property!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this renovated property in the heart of Savannah. It was perfect for our small Girl Scout Group. We loved the original wood floors and fireplaces. The colors and décor were so pretty. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, etc. needed to cook dinners. All of the linens, toiletry items, etc. were provided. We appreciated the welcome basket and greeting the next day from the owner, George! He even took our picture on the porch. We would definitely recommend and return if visiting Savannah.

Much more than expected!

  • 5 of 5

After researching dozens of places, I chose the Harrison Home because of the pictured restoration, location and accommodations for the 6 people in my group. We were not disappointed a single time during our stay. The electronic lock made it easy to access without the hassle and stress of using or losing a key. I called George, the owner, immediately to let him know we’d arrived and in addition to being most gracious, he offered many places to go while there. And, he even offered to make the best professional musical connection for me! The home was clinically clean, yet as warm and charming as a personal home could me. The restoration was done tastefully in that it was modernized to be practical and livable, yet the legacy look and feel was maintained. Specifically, the door knobs, main staircase, fireplaces, etc. The 4 bedrooms were very comfortable with well-made mattresses. The kitchen was roomy with all the accoutrements needed to cook, etc. The bathrooms were also very nice, and one had a stackable washer/dryer, which we needed! The air-conditioning was also excellent and complete with Nest controls upstairs and downstairs. The backyard was quaint and nice too, though too hot, and humid to spend much time there. We enjoyed, Wi-Fi, Netflix, games and cards, which were all provided. My birthday in Savannah was magnificent and I HIGHLY recommend this home, and cannot wait to return!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the fabulous review. We appreciate your comments about our 'clinically clean' home. Staying at the home often ourselves, we strive to keep it just as clean for our guests as we want for ourselves. We appreciate the fine linens and fully stocked kitchen/baths with no sleeper sofas. Glad you appreciated all our home and location offers!

Impeccable comfort

  • 5 of 5

"Impeccable comfort" are the first two words that come to mind about the Harrison house. First of all, it is beautifully renovated. It's obvious a lot of love went into this house, you truly feel at home here! The owner, George was extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful stay with our four children and my mother. Everyone had a bed ( not an uncomfortable pull out couch). The beds were comfy, the linens soft. The kitchen is very well stocked, We loved making family dinners there.

The location is great, easy walking distance to all the squares and very close to Forsyth Park ( The owner gave us a great tip, went to go Saturday morning farmers market there and it was wonderful ). There are still some homes on that street that need to be renovated, but we always felt safe and comfortable in the neighborhood. It's took us about 30 minutes to walk to the waterfront, and were able to cover most of Historic Savannah without driving.

We highly recommend this property, will be telling our friends about it, and hope to return one day soon!
