Captains cabin was a great experience
The captains cabin was purely a step back in time near the charming fishing village of Reedville, Va. The wife and I took the family for a last minute excursion, where we were looking to unwind and “get away” We spent a good bit of the time relaxing on the front porch looking out over the water while the kids enjoyed the huge yard. Overall the house was great and the host was attentive and very responsive to our needs. The only downside of the trip were the mosquitos , but the host had plenty of bug spray on hand. Some other highlights included taking the ferry to tangier and eating at the local restaurant, the Crazy Crab. ( little pricy but overall good food and atmosphere) Also we highly remcommend TJ’s dairy barn for ice cream.
Great location and property great place to relax and unplug
Enjoyed hanging out spent some time on the water had some great meals try Newsomes and the dairy barn in Burgess the Crazy Crab in Reedville. If you are looking to get out on the water Check with Capt. Ryan Rogers on the Midnight sun.
Private and Charming
Beautiful Home and Very Clean. Very Private and Secluded, but not far from activities. I just wanted to get away from the busy world, this was the perfect place!! No internet, no tv, and limited cell service. Most of my vacation was spent on the porch. We spent 7 days and my family from Virginia met up with us on different days. I know they all enjoyed the home and their visits. Beautiful home! We brought food, pans and paper plates with us. But there is most of that there, if you need it. I woke up to see the sun rise almost every morning at 6 am. I have some beautiful pictures. Thank you Chris for letting us rent your home. The restaurant next road over was Very good food and reasonably priced. Not many beaches close by. We drove to Colonial Beach one day. A couple ice cream shops nearby. Very relaxing and a beautiful home. 5 stars in my book!!! Also the shops we stopped had some Very Sweet people. If you want to get away from "Busy" and Unwind..........You will Love this home! Thank you, Chris!! We're hoping to make this a yearly visit!
Lovely view of the boats and water outside some of the windows and from porch swing.
The owner, Chris, was extremely nice and accommodating. He called and talked with me personally after the reservation was made and provided his phone number in case we needed him at any time, day or night. A nice, secluded get-away for the three nights we were there.
Step Back In Time
We stayed 3 nights. The price was very reasonable for the accommodations. It was very clean, quiet and peaceful. Every morning I sat on the front porch swing, drank coffee and enjoyed the sunrise. The pictures I took look like they belong on a postcard. It is a hidden treasure. We had 7 adults and the only draw back was the one full bath, but we managed just fine. We would definitely stay again.
Classic captain's home
This 1900's era home is a refreshing step back in time to a quieter pace. Lounging on the front porch swing, kids playing under the big tree, relaxing watching the boat traffic going in and out of Reedville. The wonderful seafood restaurants of Reedville are just a quick jaunt away.
The house is exactly as described. The owner is doing a great job of restoring and fixing up the place. Millionaire row this is not, but the rental prices reflects that difference.
We have stayed here several times and would say it is great for a quiet relaxing stay, or if working on a boat at nearby Jennings Marina, or a group headed out fishing. And don't forget about the Tangier ferry just down the street.
Thank You for the kind words, we look foward to seeing you again this fall!
