About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9-13)

Our lakefront getaway home is designed to put you at ease with nothing too fancy and everything intended to help you lay back and relax. Acre on the Lake is a mid-century three bedroom, two and a half bath ranch-style single level home that just might remind you of your grandma's house. We have furnished it with comfort and ease in mind for your relaxing weekend with friends, family, and kids of any age. The kitchen is not fancy (think formica, not granite!) but has everything you need for your stay whether you order take-out or want to cook a multi-course dinner, and it is open to the great room so the cook can be part of the action. The master bedroom faces the lake with a king bed and a double futon. The quiet bedroom has a queen bed and a double futon. The 'fun' bedroom has a queen bed and a bunk bed with a double under and a twin on top. The bathroom off the master bedroom has a shower over the tub. The hall bathroom has a large tiled walk-in shower and is spacious enough for a wheelchair.

Acre on the Lake got its name because we have more than an acre of expansive lawn that is great for baseball, soccer, football, frisbee or tag! Enjoy our volleyball net, ping pong table, sandy beach, boat dock, outdoor fire ring, and hot tub on the patio. Bring your own boat and fishing poles (or rent a boat or jet-skis at Blue Heron Landing which is open half the year and located approximately one block north of this property).

Our great room is furnished comfortably and intended to be cozy and welcoming for families and large groups. There is a long dining table, a card table, and stools at the kitchen counter. There is extra space and a ping pong table for kids of all ages to play in the attached garage. Each bedroom has a queen or king bed plus extra sleeping. The kitchen has dishes, pots and pans, and basic condiments and there is a charcoal BBQ outside on the patio. A washer and dryer is also on-site for your convenience.

We have hosted all types of groups here including church retreats, family reunions, scrap-booking and quilting groups, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and many others. Everyone says the space works well for them! And, because the home is all one level, this home is handicapped friendly and guests in wheelchairs have told us it works well for them. We do want to emphasize that Acre on the Lake is not a wild party house. We have neighbors who are full-time residents and we ask our guests to respect their privacy and respect the city-required quiet time hours by speaking in low voices outdoors after 10 p.m. Our Vacation rental permit also limits the number of vehicles at the property to a maximum of six, including boats or trailers.

Located in north Lincoln City on the west side of Devils Lake, Acre on the Lake is close to all city attractions and is approximately a 5 minute drive to the beach, casino, stores, or restaurants.

It is warmer and sunnier at the lake - come to the beach and enjoy the best of both worlds!

About Leslie Green

We live in Lincoln City in another house on Devils Lake! We have lived here over 30 years and raised our family here and we love it. Brian is an attorney and Leslie sells real estate at John L Scott Lincoln City. If you want to know about homes for sale in the area please call Leslie!

Leslie Green purchased this house in 2004

Why Leslie Green chose Central Coast

We bought this property with the idea we might want to retire to one level living on the lake. We also have considered possibly sometime in the future developing the property, which actually totals over 1.5 acres. We have recently put cedar siding on the house, added a heat pump heat source, removed the outdated baseboard heaters, installed new flooring, and upgraded the dock. Yeah!

What makes this house unique

The most outstanding feature of this house is the huge lawn which is absolutely perfect for outdoor games. The one level design is very friendly to wheelchairs and the elderly or physically challenged. The inside of the house is very open and inviting and also very comfortable, and the double garage functions as an extra play area complete with couches and ping pong table. The patio is great for eating outside, having a drink while watching the kids or the boats on the lake, or getting a little rest and relaxation in the hot tub! Another major bonus at this property is that the weather is warmer and sunnier with less wind at the lake but you are still just a few minutes drive to the beach.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The M family loved our time on the lake. It was so perfect for family campfires, boating, games and together time. We love the dock and yard. Thank you for making it so "family friendly". What a beautiful slice of paradise!

relaxing stay

  • 4 of 5

This was a step back in time. Lots of property in this mid century style home. Its right on the lake and very relaxing in late spring! The property is up for sale now so dont know how long it will be availabel to rent. Town is close by as is the beach. The weather prohibited our whale watching excursion but the stormy weather didnt deter us from the beach. We cooked in a lot and The one vital update that is needed is the kitchen cookwear and utencils. Everything is rusty and the knives were so dull they barely cut. Other than that, a nice stay.

Nice large home close to the outlet mall!!

  • 4 of 5

Older home in need of updating, but very large and comfortable, with a fireplace! Large windows facing the lake and large lawn area, that had deer come right next to the patio. It was winter and raining, but a great place for our retreat. Beds and futons very comfortable.

Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great! Nice layout and plenty of room for everyone to spread out or get together. The big yard going out to the lake was perfect and the view is peaceful. The location was great for our group of college 4-H young adults to do a community service project at the Hatfield Marine Science Center, go get coffee in town, and come back and relax.

Lots of possibility but far from satisfactory.

It is with great sadness that I feel compelled to leave a negative report concerning Acres on the Lake. I have purposely waited 6 weeks to write this review so that it would not be written in anger or frustration.

I will begin with the positives: The house is mid-century modern, my most favorite architectural forms. It is spacious and well furnished. The yard is massive and the lake is beautiful. We rented a patio boat and enjoyed visiting every area of this huge water wonderland. The location is perfect with tourist sites, shopping, antiquing, and the beach withing five minutes. From all outward appearances this vacation home is perfect.

Unfortunately the were also many negatives. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. The house had apparently not been cleaned and as soon as the sun went down we discovered that there were several lights in the house that did not function. We moved working lamps from other rooms and determined it was not an electrical problem. We searched the house for replacement bulbs but there were none. We also looked but could find no cleaning supplies. We called the owner and she sent over cleaning supplies and light bulbs. We spent most of Sunday evening doing house cleaning, particularly in the kitchen and bathrooms. When it got late, we retired to the bedrooms and turned on the televisions. The bedroom televisions did not work. The next morning we called the owner again and told her that the cable television was not functioning in the bedrooms. She sent someone over to check it out, that person called the cable company and was told that there was no record that the house was a cable customer. When informed that the living room television worked, it was suggested that the house was using bootlegged cable. The woman sent by the owner told us, and the cable company, that she would talk to the owner and get back to us. We never heard anything from any of them after that. While the lady (she said she was the housekeeper) was there we pointed out to her that the windows had so much accumulated dirt on them that we could barely see through them. She cleaned the one window we showed her, but did nothing about the rest of them. In addition to the kitchen not being clean, cobwebs in the corners, and a barbecue that was filthy, the one time we used the hot tub we noticed the filter was clogged. Upon checking, we discovered that it was filled with gobs of hair, which we removed. We tried to write it all off as a bad week for the ow
