Immerse yourself in the sanctuary that is Casa Susalito's! Located on top of a hill with a view of the Conejo Valley, plan on a restful, beautiful house to return to after a day of adventure. In Thousand Oaks, Midway between the glitter of LA county, with its many attractions including Universal Studios, the beaches of highway one, including Malibu and Zuma, and the laid back vibe of Ventura, Ojai and Santa Barbara, you will be able to return at the end of your day cozy up to the fireplace, or go outside and bask in the warmth of the outside firestone and twinkling stars. during the summer. kick back, feel the sun on your face, lounge in the seasonal pool, or sit by the fire pit in the evening and enjoy some s'mores and stars. Casa Susalito's is set up to encourage outdoor living, with a seasonal pool, lounge chairs, picnic table, BBQ, firepit and plantings that attract birds, bunnies, and butterflies, and yet also has a cozy fireplace for when the weather is inclement. Cook on a real reconditioned Merritt O'Keefe stove, with that pancake griddle you remember from your grandmother's house. And each bedroom is themed...The Impressionism room, and the Hawaiian room, so you have the feeling of truly getting away from it all. Birders alert: Are Condors on your list????? Nearby drive to Santa Barbara area may tick this off your list! Please be aware, during the summer, Casa Susalitos does not have air conditioning. We have lots of fans. This keeps our price point low. But if you NEED air conditioning, you should by all means check out another property as I want all guests to be satisfied! Also this is Not a stand alone home, it was a 5 bedroom ranch that was converted to a mother in law in the back. The first of its kind back in the eighties. So our concierge is in the front, and guests stay in the very large two bedroom house part In the back overlooking the conejo valley, which is very private from the front part of the property. I take great care to make this an inviting place with charm and utility, as well as fun quality pool floats, the Firestone for smore's, and just generally promoting a relaxing chill vibe.

About Susan Groff
I am Susan Of Casa Susalitos. I am a registered nurse, and my husband and I travel all over the world. As such, we know what we like and dont like about places we stay in....a must, a good comfy bed, lots of pillows, neat environment, QUIET!!!!!! PRIVACY!!!!!!!. Coffee in the morning outside, and butterflies and birds! I want to relax. During the winter, you will have forced heat, as well as a fireplace for cozy evenings. the outside firepit gets you going to have smores and watch the starts! Our house never had air conditioning. And it still does not. When we stay during the summer, we enjoy the al fresco life, with fans, jumping in the pool...this keeps our prices reasonable.
Susan Groff purchased this House in 1969
Why Susan Groff chose Thousand Oaks
Casa Susalitos is the house I grew up in. It was made into the first divided mother in law in Thousand Oaks, so it is not like other places. The area you will be is in the back of the property with a lush lawn, landscaping to please, the pool, a giant avocado tree, birds, alfresco picnic area, sunning area, and a view of the whole Conejo valley. After growing up here, I can tell you there were many a day we would go to the beach, and it would be fogged in BUMMER MAN! But at 16 years old, we would jump back in the mustang and trundle right back to poolside where it was always hot. And you can do the same. The Pacific ocean might not be under control, however, the pool is always there as backup!.
What makes this House unique
The firestone is so neat. Turn it on in the morning and bring your morning cuppa out at the crack of dawn....or come out at night, gather those smore ingredients, and enjoy the stars and the fire. The pool is lighted, so many a hot night, we kids were in the pool till late at night. It was great.

Great property, great owner!
My parents and (new) in-laws stayed at Susan's during our wedding in Thousand Oaks, and thoroughly enjoyed their stay! They were very comfortable in the house and on the beautiful property. The location felt safe and was perfectly central to our needs.
Susan was excellent with correspondence, and provided all the details we could ever need to ensure they had a relaxing, stress-free stay.
Her local contact, Jonathan, was available to provide extra towels, and assist them in finding everything, as well as to keep an eye on the pool - which was clean and refreshing!
We highly recommend checking out Casa Susalito's for adventures in Ventura County and beyond!
Thank you so much Joel! I am glad they had a good time, and as always, as a fellow traveler, I am glad that everything they could need was right there for them! Jonathan is great! No, actually awesome! Safe and happy traveling to you all, Susan of Casa susalitos
Clean, quiet, peaceful and a beautiful spot to relax!
Home away from home
What a lovely home. Had a fantastic time while in town visiting with family. The house was in great shape, the pool was lovely and we had everything we could possibly need while there. Will rent this house again when back in Cali for visits with family. We were there when cool outside so use of the pool was limited but the breeze was great for sleeping.
We loved the back yard and suite private and very homey.
Loved back yard: view exceptional of valley and reminded us of Italy; private; peaceful even with background traffic; chaise lounges very relaxing. Living area made us feel very much at home. Only issue w’re some bites from unknown source- possibly spider. Susan was very accessible when Jonathan unavailable. We have wonderful memories, particularly of the back yard.
Thanks to Dave and Andrea for being great guests! There are always things people love about any VRBO place, but we owners don't always get feedback that helps us improve the place. Dave was one of those great people. I don't exactly know how he found that the bathroom sink was leaking way in the back, but he let us know, saving us damage to the wall. The cable wasn't working and we all tried to troubleshoot it....well Dave, it took a Millennial! Our next client walked in, plugged the cable box in, (that was the problem), and said there are no batteries in the cable changer! (Another question that, where did they go?)..Popped in a few batteries and it's up and running! We are not sure about the spider thing, as there are of course no cobwebs allowed at Casa Susalitos! But southern California has periodic problems with ants and spiders in our dryer regions of which Thousand Oaks is one. That sunny California weather encourages them! As a nurse I also don't engage in "bug bombing" as I don't think it is good for people's health. Therefore we traveled 400 miles from where we live. Well we never found the "spider" but we sure did vacuum alot! And I kept in touch with the clients to make sure the bites they were concerned about resolved. Our current and past clients have not reported any bites. Best again to Dave and Andrea, they were great to have.
PERFECTLY located for Channel Islands and Santa Monica Mountain Hiking - very, very quiet
We just returned from our California hiking trip and LOVED the location of this very quiet apartment/house. We were 30 minutes from the Channel Islands in one direction and 30 minutes from most of the Santa Monica Mountain hiking. Thousand Oaks is a lovely - non LA - location. We did not utilize the pool, but the two bedrooms/1 bath were all clean, cozy, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The apartment is small, but was a perfect alternative to a hotel room for the two of us. Susan was the friendliest and most informative host, we have ever had. We recommend this highly. Don't miss the Alma Sol wine-tasting room, down in Thousand Oaks.
Peaceful, quiet and close to shops and malls
We had a great stay thank you!
Thanks Kate, I am glad you all had a good stay! Hope the resident bunnies visited you as well.
