Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom for two people + firm sofa bed for 3d, 1 Bath (Maximum 3 guests)

Casita Treetops is nestled on a hillside among the tree tops overlooking the beautiful colonial city of San Miguel de Allende. Take advantage of serious rental savings of 7 day periods and even more for a stay of at least 30 days. Just a short 7 minute walk to the Jardin! Enjoy morning coffee or sunset from your own private balcony. This 1 bedroom cozy casita has an open floor plan with plenty of large windows that give a feeling of spaciousness and light. Colorful seating flanks large windows face the small, terraced garden or overlook rooftops and city views. The wide granite bar seating is perfect for casual dining. The kitchen is equipped with toaster-oven, microwave, coffee pot, blender, dishes and glassware for up to 6 guests, cooking utensils, etc.

The comfortable King-sized bedroom (which can also be set up as two twin beds) has extra down comforters and ample pillows and bedding. There is an additional bed for one that can be made up in the living room. The bedroom has a work station below a wall mounted Smart TV with DVD player. A 42" Smart TV is located in the kitchen and can be adjusted to be viewed from anywhere in the living areas. Basic cable TV and you can bring your own Apple TV, Amazon Fire or other USB enabled media appliance. One Ipod dock/clock is in the bedroom. Wi-fi throughout the home for use with your own devices. Please note that internet speeds may not mirror that which you are accustomed to in your home country. The updated bath has both shower and tub, great for relaxing after a day's sightseeing, shopping, language or art studies. Two free pool passes included; additional pool use and gym use are available by arrangement with the staff at the covered swimming pool located steps away, but far enough away to go unnoticed. You're going to love life at Treetops!

NOTE: ACH or E-check payment via VRBO website preferred over credit card payments, but both are accepted.

Winter rates increase because we are finding that "snowbirds" often use much more electricity and gas to keep the home toasty at all times (even when they are not there, in some cases). While we support smart resource use by turning off lights and heat when not in use, we also want our guests to be comfortable during their stay. This modest seasonal increase during the winter months reflects the reality of higher utility costs associated with that season even though the usage of individual guests may vary.

Check-in starts at 3 p.m. and Check-out ends at noon. If our calendar permits, a request for a late check out made as early as you know your need may be subject to accommodation, depending on our schedule for cleaning and the arrival date of the next group of guests. Thank you for keeping this in mind as you plan the time on your last day.

About Local Manager: Yoko Nishiguchi

Your host is a San Francisco native who discovered San Miguel in 2004 and has been visiting annually ever since. I enjoy cataloguing my favorite activities, restaurants and events to share with visitors. There is a binder in the apartment with tips for household operations and for activities in the area. Welcome to my (and your) home away from home!

Local Manager: Yoko Nishiguchi purchased this condo in 2005

Why Local Manager: Yoko Nishiguchi chose Zona Centro

Located in the historic centro district, but well above and away from the noise of the central jardin and the streets. The hillside location offers nice city views and breezes. Common noise of the city center is often buffered at this location. A short walk to the jardin, but taxi service (about $3 US per ride) is easily arranged to and from your door.

What makes this condo unique

I am unaware of any properties at this price point that offer a pool and gym, wi-fi, Smart TVs, in-unit washer-dryer and twice-weekly maid service. Lovely views and breezes. Relative calm and quiet for a central location near the hub of activity. A very 'clean' unit. A professional, local manager is available to assist you with your arrival, departure and any needs during your stay.

Fine Way to Visit San Miguel!

  • 5 of 5

The Condo on the Hill was a fine place to hang our hats during a recent four-week stay in San Miguel. Arrival and departure were painless, and the manager, Yoko, provided all the necessary information to insure a comfortable stay. The space, though snug, is well-utilized, and the kitchen is the best equipped of any we've experienced. We especially appreciated the nice views from the windows, the purified water tap in the kitchen (this is really helpful in a place where the tap water can make you ill), the excellent shower and generally reliable internet capacity. The important things in this apartment work really well, and made our stay easy.

The February mornings were chilly and, while the heaters were very helpful, we missed getting any direct sunlight, either in the house or on the terrace--probably a blessing in summer, but a bit less welcome when it's cold.

Many previous commentators have mentioned the steep hill up to the condo. There's no denying that the cobbled streets and uneven pavement, while charming, can be treacherous (ten cuidado!) but, at 70, we became accustomed to the climb, feeling a sense of achievement when we landed at our doorstep--although, like others, we also made ample use of the inexpensive and reliable taxis. It is worth noting that the short cut steps to the street are uneven and badly lit, so probably not the best fit for the ill-fit--and yes, DO bring a small flashlight. On the other hand, the climb down the hill to the central square is an easy 7-minute walk, and you can always reward yourself with a dash into Panio, an excellent bakery just before you hit the Jardin!

Perfect little place

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at this property 2-3 times and have enjoyed it each time. It is very well appointed with everything one might need, even two terry bath robes! It is quiet, very safe, and a short walk to the centro. I found the apartment immaculately clean. My only suggestion is to add more lighting in the kitchen area. I will definitely suggest the casita to others, and look forward to my next stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your suggestion. I have in mind to put in under cabinet lights when I next go down to SMA in January. That seems to be the place where I noted the need for more light. You? Look forward to seeing you again as your travel plans may allow. Julie

Very Comfortable Pleasantly Located Pied-a-Terre

  • 5 of 5

I have been travelling to San Miguel since the 90's and have stayed in numerous apartments and large homes in and around "Centro" and I myself have been an airbnb host. This well-equipped efficiency would be the perfect place for a single woman travelling alone to San Miguel for the first time. It is very secure, very quiet and conveniently located. The apartment is also large enough for a couple - including one with a child or an extended family member. The linens are generous in quality and quantity. The kitchen had everything I needed including a large T.V. to entertain me while I did some serious cooking with great local produce from the huge, nearby food market. The large windows let in plenty of natural light and looked out on picturesque views. The small terrace was perfect for me and the parking and pool were great perks. I would definitely book another reservation for this rental when I return to San Miguel.

Great location, enjoyable visit.

  • 4 of 5

All the previous reviews of this property by prior guests say it all! We spent the month of March at this location in a quiet, lovely area and just a short walk into town and taxi ride back up. Loved being there during all the Easter festivities as well. Enjoyed late afternoons sitting on the porch in the warm breezes after spending mornings in town. Would rather have had an outdoor pool to enjoy but we found a few hotels that allowed visitors for just 80 pesos a day to use there’s. The host was there to greet us and very responsive when we had questions throughout our stay.

Great Property Suited All Our Needs

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed this little nest for our winter stay in SMA. The local manager was great and very helpful and we loved our twice a week house cleaning - Julia did a great job. The walk up the hill was a great offset to all the rooftop margaritas we enjoyed. We found the house just far enough to stay out of all the Centro noise, but close enough to easily get to shopping, great restaurants and movies.

The cobblestones are serious - so be prepared with proper shoes. This is not a heels and flip flop area.

The bed is very comfortable and the towels are nice and thick. The kitchen is well appointed.

A few things for our future visit - bring your own HDMI cable or Apple TV. Also bring slippers and warm lounge wear for winter months. The tile floors are COLD in the winter time as the unit does not receive any sunshine. For hot summer days I am sure it is a perfect hideaway.

Owner's Response: I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for repeating the listing’s advice about winter weather and warm clothes for inside and outside comfort in winter months, as well as the option of hooking up your own entertainment devices to the internet -connected TVs. I did not know an HDMI cable was necessary for such devices; now that I know, I will make arrangements to add one to the equipment at the home. Thanks! Julie

Fabulous Choice

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Casita Treetops and we love it. The local manager answered all our questions promptly and we had no problems. There's filtered water in the kitchen and bottled drinking water is provided. This casita is close to downtown but at the top of a steep hill. This turns out to be perfect, because we walked downtown to be part of the action, and then returned up the hill to a quiet, friendly atmosphere. We walked up the hill sometimes, but after a delicious dinner in town, we often took a cab ride home -- cabs are inexpensive in San Miguel. The "little white book" provided by the owner gives great info on what to do in San Miguel as well as how to get to the local grocery and other useful facts. We highly recommend a stay at Casita Treetops. Our time in San Miguel was dreamy!
