About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 14

At the Sandborn, a Fort Bragg vacation rental among the dunes of MacKerricher State Park, you'll have 3,200 square feet for up to 14 guests to enjoy. A hot tub, two decks, direct beach access on protected park land, and a private plot make this a can't-pass-up beach getaway. Dogs are also allowed for a small nightly fee.

In the friendly little village of Cleone, a convenient four miles north of Fort Bragg itself, this home puts you right near Highway 1. Easily reach Lake Cleone, MacKerricher park trails, or a local institution, the Purple Rose Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, on foot. Hop in your vehicle and hang out in fun Fort Bragg among its boutiques and eateries.

This Fort Bragg beach house is designed in a way that allows you to best experience the area. Sit out on one of the two decks or head to the hot tub with wild and foggy vistas of the Northern California Coast surrounding you. Expand your view with a telescope.

Head inside to the lower level and find a spacious den to watch the cable-equipped TV, write out postcards, or play a board game at the window-side four-seat table. Upstairs, you'll find the main living room, with another TV and panoramic views of the ocean, and the kitchen with a dishwasher, wine glasses and corkscrew, coffeemaker, and more.

This den also doubles as a room for children to have a sleepover on the queen-size sleeper sofa. Two more bedrooms are available on this floor, each with memory foam queen beds.

When you've been beachcombing, town exploring, and hiking to your heart's delight, retire to one of the many sleeping spaces in this home. Upstairs is the master bedroom with a memory foam king bed, a room with a memory foam queen bed, and a second queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Three full bathrooms, solar power, and WiFi top everything off!

Explore the area via coastal Highway 1 with a leisurely road trip north or south. Nearby are both Mendocino and Albion, two friendly towns with a similar Cali vibe and a great combination of craggy headland hikes and town charms.

With a stellar location by the beach, Sandborn is a Northern California Coast vacation rental you can't pass up!

* This home is solar powered and it has a backup generator which supplies electricity to the home if the area experiences a power failure.

About Vacasa of the Northern California Coast

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Location, location, hottub!

The property is located at the edge of a 10 mile beach with spectacular views. I like that there wasn't any buildings blocking the view from the house for miles. It was like we were staying at a private beach. In late August--there was very little traffic on the beach. We saw seals, deer and a lot of sanddollar shells. Horse back riding tours are available down the street. The house was very clean and the wi-fi worked well. The Vacasa telephone customer service reps were extremely professional and friendly. The only cons were a few minor things such as the patio chairs are broken/worn out, the interior top stair landing posts are more than 4 inches apart (not good for small people) and the driveway gate didn't open if you wanted to walk out on the street (inside code-box didn't work); however, there is a side gate to a private trail leading to the beach. The Sandborn home is a place I will recommend and look forward to returning to for my next beach retreat.--

Very relaxing weekend

  • 4 of 5

We were disappointed there was no BBQ on the premises after seeing one advertised for this property. We had to go into town and buy one due to the fact that we brought a lot of food to barbecue. Our first impression of the home when we entered was oh my how spacious but that was quickly overcome by a strong odor of burnt grease from the last party that was there. I feel a febreze treatment would have eliminated this before we arrived. The location is excellent and the private access to the beach was a lot of fun. You're always going to have little quirks with a a party of 14 staying at any house, but most issues were quickly overcome when we put our heads together. The only bummer on the whole weekend was the fact that the water pressure went to 0 at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday so morning showers were out of the question. All in all it was a great trip and we would stay there again.

The view is amazing...the weather was perfect. It was a definite reprieve from the heat we've been experiencing in SoCal! Plenty of room for large family, comfortable surroundings.

Kowalik Annual Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our large family. The views were spectacular, beach access was easy and close, beds were comfortable and the house was quiet and secluded. We had a bit of an ant problem in 2 of the three bathrooms when we arrived and a few of the windows would not open. Kitchen could be better stocked; no toaster, no tupperware for storing leftovers, had trouble with ice maker. Overall, we were very impressed and plan to stay again next year. I only wish the owner would accept a deposit then structure the rent into two payments. Coming up with the full rent amount up front seemed unreasonable.
