About Ann

We are retired professionals who discovered the Berkshires after our children had grown up in our previous home. The increased traffic and congested/"built-out" community there no longer suited us. So we moved to Becket! Love the small town ambiance/facilities AND access to all kinds of cultural events and offerings in the Berkshires. One of us totally enjoys outdoor activities in all the seasons and the other mostly enjoys playing tennis year round. We both enjoy the cultural offerings here. The fact that we never lack for company is certainly indicative of the popularity of Berkshire living!

Ann purchased this house in 2015

Why Ann chose Berkshires

Beautifully constructed and furnished house in quiet area. No traffic noise! Many windows! Rural ambiance yet close to theater, music venues, museums, sports venues all year round.

What makes this house unique

Fresh Country Air. Privacy. Spacious, yet Cozy. Bright and Sunny Year-round. In Summertime -- AC comfort available if needed. In Winter -- Enjoying romantic aura of the authentic wood-burning fireplace from the posh leather sofa.

The Perfect Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay over New Years. The house was great for a quiet weekend away with friends, and perfectly situated near some snowshoeing trails. We made all our meals at the house and found it was well stocked with the supplies we needed. Thanks to Ann and Dave for being fantastic hosts!

Wonderful family weekend

  • 4 of 5

This home was perfect for meeting our adult children for weekend. The loft provided a perfect space and some privacy for the young couple and the downstairs bed/bath were more than adequate for us. Beds, bedding and bathrooms were all clean and of good quality.

It was a cold and rainy weekend; we mostly stayed in, and the house was really perfect for enjoying each other's company. My husband was able to watch a college football game with the kids. We watched a DVD that we found on the great book shelves in the living room. We also played cribbage using a game found on the shelves. This time and more was spent in front of a beautiful fire in the fireplace. My husband was thrilled with the wood pile!

We cooked our meals together and enjoyed the lovely dining area for every meal. Most of the kitchen amenities were very nice such as dishes, silverware and pots and pans. Some of the utensils weren't as good but we were able to make do. The bag of ice in the freezer was very much appreciated. We would have used a few more kitchen towels if we had had them and a clean sponge or dish cloth would have been appreciated.

In spite of the weather, everyone enjoyed walking and exploring the quiet roads around the house and trails in the nearby quarry park.

We brought our food but there was a country store a few miles away with some groceries, some takeout and a small cafe. The owners were very nice and flexible. We arrived in the evening (in the dark) and they were pleasant in spite of the fact that we probably interfered with their dinner and evening. They offered to help in any way to make our visit enjoyable. Our weekend together was all that we had hoped for.

Owner's Response: Hi Deborah - So glad you all had an enjoyable stay! FYI, I just bought two more dishtowels to add to the two already there. Also extra sponges. Thanks for the feedback -- Ann

Relaxing country getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Ann and Dave were lovely hosts. They greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour of the property and provided us with a list of restaurants and nearby attractions. They even gave us a bottle of wine and chocolate as a welcome gift! The house itself was beautiful. Even better than the pictures show. The architecture was beautiful, it was spacious, the master bedroom was large and comfortable and the fireplace made the experience extra cozy. The only thing we regretted was not staying for longer. Highly recommend!! We wish we had a house just like this!

Excellent Property for a Berkshires Getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a perfect home for your getaway, this place is it!! My fiancé and I can't stop raving about the wonderful time that we had at this wonderful home in Becket!! Ann and Dave were fantastic hosts. They aim to please! We were welcomed to the property with a nice tour of the home, and were even provided with a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate (awesome hospitality)!! They were very attentive to our needs and welcomed us to contact them throughout our stay if any issues arose (and as expected, there were none). The property was breathtaking and absolutely immaculate. Both bedrooms were excellent! Both beds were nicely made with crisp linens. Both bathrooms were stocked with fresh towels and had plenty of toiletries. While we did not get a chance to cook during our stay, I have to comment on how impressed we were with the amount of cookware that was provided in the home. Overall, we could not have asked for a better home and host. We will definitely return to this home on our next visit to the area!!

A peaceful oasis

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 5 days at this home in the Berkshires to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It was the perfect respite from our daily excursions throughout western Massachusetts. The pictures do not do this house justice! It is roomy, immaculately clean and comfortable, with super high ceilings, a well-appointed kitchen, and beautiful architectural woodwork. This is not a run-of-the-mill cookie-cutter house. Situated in the woods and secluded from any neighbors it provided a peaceful retreat that proved very relaxing and stress-free.

Ann and David greeted us when we arrived, gave us a tour to make sure we were comfortable, and made sure we were satisfied before we left. They live close by and were very gracious and quick to help when we accidentally locked ourselves out the 2nd day of our stay. Having stayed at other vacation rentals I'm not sure we'd have had such an easy time recovering from our mistake with owners who were not local. The bottle of wine and chocolates they gift to all their guests was an extra nice touch. They gave us great recommendations for local restaurants (breakfast at the Country Store on Rt 8 was great!) and clearly want to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable!

There are ample brochures of all the great Berkshires attractions. We made use of the DirecTV when winding down after each busy day. The AC was nice and cool. There is a jetted tub but the controls were taped over so we could not give it a try. The only thing that was missing was a convenient place to hang towels in the bathroom.

Things to be aware of: there is no internet connection in the house, and our cell phone signal (Sprint network) was not very strong or reliable. Neither of these was a surprise so we were OK with that. During our stay the ice-maker was not working but there was plenty of ice already made to last us all 5 days - and we filled our water bottles every day.

The house is about 10 minutes from Jacob's Pillow and about 30 minutes to Tanglewood. We didn't get to the former on this trip, but the latter was certainly the highlight for us! Seeing Andris Nelsons rehearse Beethoven's 9th and Yo Yo Ma perform live with the BSO was a special treat. We also enjoyed Bash Bish Falls and the Norman Rockwell Museum, especially seeing his studio preserved as it would have been while working on his painting "The Golden Rule".

This is a wonderful place to stay in the Berkshires and we highly recommend it!
