About Judy Body

My family considers this our second home. Our history on St. Simons goes back to the 1920's. We hope that you enjoy the island as much as we do!

Very cute cozy house. Perfect size for my family of four plus two dogs. Awesome location. But.... Bugs and Roaches inside the house! My kids and I were scared and uncomfortable. We had to spray the whole house. Mosquitos in yard! I was afraid of the dogs getting bit and catching something so I didn't leave them in the yard. Microwave was disgustingly dirty and oven was also dirty. I didn't want to cook in that kitchen or even heat up leftovers. The front yard connects with the back yard and the front fence is short so that was a concern since I have a large dog. Too much foliage around yard so dogs were getting into all kinda of stuff. Parking is way too small. Perfect for just one car but I had two. It's an old house so obviously could use some maintenance and upgrades. If you get rid of the bugs, clean it very well, make a few repairs, and make a few upgrades then this would be the perfect rental. Currently I would not rent again and I would not recommend.

Owner's Response: Oh my goodness…your review surprises me! In spite of having a yearly contract with an exterminator we occasionally see a bug or two, and if so I call them to take care of any issues. They quickly respond. With rain, mosquitoes can be a problem at times on the island. Glynn County sprays to control them by helicopter and truck. Insects of all types are something you constantly deal with on the coast! As you know, since I don’t live on St. Simons, I work with a local management company there who oversees Sandpiper. I wish you had notified them of your problems as soon as they arose so they could have dealt with them while you were there. It would have just taken a phone call to have the exterminator and housekeeping come by the house and correct these issues. If problems arise while you are a guest, they should be contacted since they respond right away. Perhaps your dogs were too large for the house. My VRBO ad states that the dogs who visit should be small. I will need to be more specific about the weight allowed. I am so proud of the 3 foot fence, walkway, and driveway that was recently installed. Again, perhaps I need to be specific in my ad that if more parking is needed, there is additional parking just before the parking pad is reached. I take pride in the condition of my second home and yard, and I am constantly improving and updating the inside and outside of the house. I work closely with a landscaping crew and my management company. When I stay in the house, I spend countless hours attending to the details necessary to maintain it to the level expected by guests. I am sorry that you didn’t have a positive experience in my home.

Great Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

The Sandpiper Cottage is exactly as pictured: clean, comfortable, very well maintained, etc. It is in a quiet neighborhood close to everything. Our two schnauzers had a great time running around in the large fenced yard (front and back). This was our first time on SSI and we will certainly be back. Highly recommend this adorable home.

We had an awesome time at the Sandpiper Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We have been to St. Simons several times and this time took friends of ours as well as some family. This was an awesome little cottage and at a nice location too. Had a nice fenced in yard for my Wife's Dog and our friends enjoyed spending time there with several of them never being on the Island before. Overall this was one great location and the only concern was having 1 Bathroom when you get six people in it, but we made it work and all was great. Had everything we needed and couldn't ask for nicer people from the Management Company that got us the house.

Lovely cottage - would definitely stay again!

  • 5 of 5

The owner was an absolute dream to work with! The cottage itself is cozy, just the right size for me and my husband. Plenty of towels and comfortable furnishings. Unlike many pet-friendly cottages, you'd never know it here - not a hair to be found!

We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful Dog and Kid-Friendly Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here week before Memorial Day Weekend. Property Management folks very friendly, efficient and helpful. Cottage very clean, modest but charmingly decorated, fully equipped (including wireless), centrally located. Fully fenced so great for kids and the family pet. Our standard poodle was right at home. Nights on the porch. Kitchen open, easy place to cook. Grilled in the backyard. Rode bikes about everywhere. Loved the island - especially those live oaks draped in moss. Beautiful. We'll be back.
