Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath New Home With Private River Access

This is a two year old home. It is only 9 blocks from the downtown park. It is located in a new private community and is 6 of 10 planned homes currently completed. There is private access to the Arkansas River just across the street for neighborhood use. Along the river, you will find a newly constructed path that will take you to a quiet fishing pond. Views of the mountains are beautiful from the path! You can fish in the river as well, or simply get in to cool off. You might catch rafters or kayakers' float by. I dropped the price a bit because there is construction in the neighborhood. Though previous construction noise has been minimal, we hope this will be incentive for you to stay with us regardless.

We provide bikes for your use tooling around town. There is a Safeway six blocks from our house, a bank near the grocery store, and multiple shops. You can park you car in the garage and use bikes for all venues in town. Salida has more great restaurants than a town of it's small size can typically boast.

Our home has three upstairs bedrooms. The master suite has a queen bed, walk in closet, 4 foot shower, ceiling fan, and window facing the river. Bedroom two has a king bed and ceiling fan. Bedroom three has a queen bed and two twin lofts. There are no safety rails, please consider this when assigning bed to little ones. "Sleeps 9" means one person sleeps on the couch in living room. It is not a pull out sofa. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a small bathroom with a shower only. There is a pop up crib available for little ones as well, however our home has NO bathtub. Our home does NOT have AC. There is a ceiling fan in the living room and we have box fans for each of the bedrooms for warmer summer months. Two of the bedrooms also have ceiling fans.

Downstairs is an open concept living area offering fully stocked kitchen, island/bar, dining, and living room, fireplace, pantry, laundry, and half bath. The kitchen has all new stainless appliances, microwave, and there are granite counter-tops throughout.

There is a front patio with porch swing, and a back patio in the small fenced backyard which has a wood fire pit for relaxing and star gazing at night. We recently bought a kiddy pool and shade for summer use. It is a great way to cool off! We have a detached 2 car garage you are welcome to use. It is not heated. It is half filled with townie bikes. Next to our neighborhood is the local baseball field you can use for tossing around the football or playing a family game of ultimate Frisbee!

Many options for adventures close by:

-The Arkansas River is one of the worlds top white water rafting destinations and also received a Gold Medal status award for it's trout fishing this year!

-Mount Princeton Hot Spring's is a 20 minute drive; there you can enjoy soaking in the pools or right in the river!

-Monarch Ski area is a 25 minute drive. Crested Butte is 75 minutes away. Breckenridge 80 minutes, Ski Cooper 70 minutes

-Bikers can find endless miles of backcountry single track trails, or stick to the roads and enjoy the countryside.

-You can sit by the river at restaurants downtown and watch the kayakers navigate the water park, or you can rent boats and tubes and give it a try yourselves.

-Town has great restaurants, art, and resale shops.

-There is a beautiful town park with playground, climbing wall, and outdoor ampitheater.

Better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time! This was my first VRBO experience. The house was beyond our expectations. What a joy to have them exceeded. The home was perfectly maintained, very well stocked, modern, excellent location while so comfortable and nice. We will definitely stay again.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented the house the week before Christmas. The home was cozy, had everything we needed. The kitchen is fully stocked. It is in a great location, close to historic downtown, shops and restaurants. During our stay we skied at Monarch Mountain which is about 15-20 mins from the house. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again in the future.

This house was perfect. Very neat decor, plenty of room. Beds very comfortable with exception to the bunk beds. So happy we found this place.

Close to downtown Salida

  • 3 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed being in a new home in Salida. We had plenty of room and most everything was made available to us. I must admit that the small main and only bathroom on the second floor to serve 3 bedrooms was not very suitable. There was no master bathroom but it did have a 1/2 bath on the first floor.

The owners were very easy to communicate with and we appreciate having the chance to visit beautiful Salida and the Collegiate Peaks area.

About Talitha and Dave Montesi

Dave and I live in Evergreen, CO, where we have been for the past 25 years. We started visiting Salida to ski with our kids at Monarch Ski Area over Spring Break. We found ourselves always leaving wishing we had a home here. We fell in love with the town, all it has to offer, and all the opportunities for outdoor adventure. We have two boys, 15 and 18, and love to play in Salida every chance we get. We cannot wait to get back and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Dave and I have been with Evergreen Fire Rescue for 19 years, he is currently the EMS Coordinator. I work as an Emergency Room Nurse at Saint Anthony's in Lakewood. We have been in Colorado for 25 years. We spend our time attending and helping with our kids events, working with the fire department, and attending church. We also run a non profit that places AED's in the community and teaches 1000's of community members FREE CPR each year. We really value and enjoy our precious free time and love to spend it in the outdoors, biking, skiing, fishing, rafting, and hiking. Salida is a perfect fit for us!

Talitha and Dave Montesi purchased this house in 2015

Why Talitha and Dave Montesi chose Salida

We wanted a home in town where we could easily ride bikes anywhere we want! This new community was just what we were looking for without all the headache of owning a 100 year old original.
