Culture and relaxation in the heart of Bruges, the Venice of the North
'AT HOME' en 'LA TOUR' are situated in the historical town at 8 min walking distance from the 'Markt' (main square).
'AT HOME' is an old house dating from the 19th century renovated with all the modern facilities.
'LA TOUR' (tower) is a 'Folly' from 18 century. It's a protected monument of the city of Bruges. The decoration is a compromise between design and antiques. The gardens created by the owner, who's a landscape architect, are really delightful.

Historic and Unique
We loved this 18th century tower as soon as we walked in! It is the most unique HomeAway apartment we’ve ever rented and we’ve rented over 30 apartments in the last 3 years. It is such a special place but there is a caution for those with any type of disability affecting legs or balance. The ground floor has the gorgeous living room, eating area and cabinet-hidden kitchenette. The 1st floor has the bedroom, bathtub w/hand shower and toilet (fortunately!). The 2nd floor is the Belvedere offering a wonderful seating area with rooftop and steeple sites of Bruges. Both stairways twist in a circular fashion. We did not find this an issue and thoroughly enjoyed this wonderfully appointed Tower. We walked to every major tourist attraction from this apartment. Both Louise and Francis were welcoming and helpful. There is plenty of tourist information at the apartment as well as a map Louise used to help orient us to the location of markets and major sites. The Market Place and Bell Tower are about a 10 minute walk from the apartment; the small grocery store is just around the corner. This apartment was way more than advertised as far as historic interest, convenience and ease of use. We loved it!
Elegant and unusual house 10 minutes from centre
The property is the wing of a family home of about1800 recently restored in the style of the period. The restoration is exceedingly thorough, thoughtful and sympathetic, with cunning and discreet introduction of modern facilities and comforts. The narrow staircases need care and are not for the physically impaired, but they are not dangerous and did not worry this pair of 80 year olds. The kitchen is mainly housed in a wardrobe but it is high quality and efficient, if not for elaborate cooking. We did not use the open fire, but the central heating is excellent.
The bed is very comfortable and the nights untroubled by noise or light. There is a spacious ‘bathroom’ with washbasin, toilet etc, but the bath (with hand-held shower only) is housed in a curtained alcove off the bedroom. On the second floor there is the belvedere, a most attractive sitting room with an all round view of rooftops and sky.
There are pleasant and well maintained gardens with discreet space for the car within the secure perimeter. The centre can be reached in 10 minutes at a brisk walk, but there are several routes through quiet streets which can be enjoyed.
The house is unusual and demands a certain sympathy with its style. More suited perhaps to those visiting Bruges for art than for chocolate or beer.
Nice revew from nice guest.
It's always a plaesure to welcome guest who appreciate the 'essence' of our tower.

Beautiful and unique
We really enjoyed our stay here for 7 nights. The owners were friendly and helpful. We know this area of bruges very well having usually stayed in a nearby hotel so for us this was fantastic already knowing what was local to the house. The house was comfortable and clean and we had no issues whilst there. We did not use the tv, heating or cooking facilities but they were there and fully available if needed. Overall a charming house with nothing we could fault. The only thing we personally would have benefited from would have been a full length mirror or one we could use not over the sink but this did not ruin our time here in anyway. Thank you.
Thanks for your very nice review.
Good idea for the mirror. I will try to put one in the hall.
See you next time?

Our Time at LaTour
This home was a nice peaceful place to come home to after visiting the beautiful city and sights of medieval Bruges. The owners were very responsive and offered any help or suggestions we might need. The garden was truly a masterpiece! It was within walking and biking distance of everywhere you might want to visit. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were top quality. It was amazingly quiet to sleep, no noise whatsoever, yet so close to the city. The private parking was a definite bonus. We very much enjoyed our stay!
Thanks Anita for your review.
It was also nice to have you in the tower !
always welcome again !
Unique and spacious
Bed and Bruges is a property with three rental units: De Melgar, At Home, and La Tour. We stayed in La Tour (“the tower”), which was originally built in the late 1600s/early 1700s as a garden house. There are still many of the original features, such as the mantelpiece on the first floor and the stone and wood flooring on the second and third floors. The tower consists of three stories in total. The first floor has a small kitchenette, a patio and a sitting room. The second floor has a bedroom, a bathtub on an alcove off of the bedroom, and a separate room with a sink and toilet. The third floor is another sitting room that has large windows on all four sides—an absolutely wonderful place to just read, talk, or relax. Overall it is a very large unit, so if you like to have a lot of space this is the place for you. The owners, Francis and Louise, are very nice and willing to help in any way they can. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again next time we are in Bruges. It’s just a very unique place. Even though there are a lot of old buildings in Bruges that house bed and breakfasts, I don’t think there’s anything quite like the tower. Plus it’s in an ideal location—about a 10-15 walk to the central of town (the Markt), but in a residential area that isn’t touristy and thus very quiet.
Too kind and too nice.
We found your sock...Sign that you need to come back...
My wife and I stayed in the tower for a week with our 7 month old son. Francis and Louise were very nice and offered us several baby items to use during our stay. The properties location is very convenient to city center as well as motorways.
It was nice having the kitchenette and used the sink and refrigerator only. There seemed to be enough cooking utensils though if you wanted to cook in the apartment. The courtyard area seemed very nice, but due to the cool temperatures during our stay we weren't able to use it much. Parking was very secure and was very nice to have since we made several day trips to other areas in Belgium.
We would definitely consider staying here again if we are ever back in Brugge.
Thanks a lot for your nice compliment.
Baby was sooo cute...
