Perfect unit for a business trip!
Friendly doorman, cozy unit.
We chose this property for one reason: its location. We were in town for a conference at one of the nearby hotel/conference centers, but we needed a kitchen to make our own food. This place was very near the hotel. There's nothing flashy about the place, but it is an excellent location, easy to access, and has everything you need. We would stay here again if our work holds the conference in the same place.
Atlanta downtown condo - as described, easy in/out, no surprises.
The studio is large, in a 60's vintage apartment building. Check-in was easy & as described, with a 24-hr. "concierge" (door-person). On one occasion the door-person was away, but the HID device provided on the key-ring allowed me access to the building. The studio was well stocked with everything you would expect from a hotel, including soaps, shampoo, lotion and coffee. The fixtures & finishes were original to the building & therefore "period correct" (showing their age). The furnishings were inexpensive, as one would expect in a rental unit, but clean and adequate. Being a downtown neighborhood, the area was typically noisy for an urban area. The were also neighbors in the building that were noisy from time to time, but nothing one would not expect. My solution was to use my phone as a white noise machine, which helped. The full-size platform bed was fine, neither too hard, nor too soft. The sofa was also a futon, but I only used it to sit on. The owner was friendly and responsive. She also suggested using MARTA for getting to the property from the airport. I took the suggestion, which only cost $6 for the round trip. My only comment is that the automated ticket terminal was a little confusing at first. Overall, I was very satisfied with the unit and the experience and would use this property again for a visit to downtown Atlanta.
Poorly prepared host
We were looking for a small apartment for a short stay near the Georgia Aquarium. We have used this condo building before and found it to be well located near Marta, the public transport system in Atlanta. There are a number of condos for rent in the building and the building itself is welcoming. WIFI and cable TV is good. Heat and AC is controlled by the building, but we have never had a problem with this lack of control, A small screened porch with table and chairs allows for fresh air. But we also have to share a problem. When we unlocked our door, we discovered a very dirty apartment with dirty linens piled in a corner. That did not worry us until we tried to call the owner and none of the phone numbers listed in the confirmation were working or accessible. Unfortunately the building concierge had no better luck with his phone numbers, We called Air BnB and after lengthy phone calls they were able to locate the husband of the owner and he and a cleaner arrived within 15 minutes, Three hours later we were able to have possession of the apartment we had rented. In their haste to tidy up, some areas were left undone. We cleaned them up ourselves at that point We were not permitted to leave our bags in the room due to security reasons so we remained in the hallway or in the common space of the apartment during the clean up.. I give these details so that others who have a tighter schedule than we had can check ahead to see if the apartment is ready. The owner's husband offered a refund of the cleaning fee and provided us a check before we departed.
Perfect for what I needed
Very simple, small, clean. great front door staff to help with anything you need. host was easily reached prior to arrival. had no problems. will use this condo again, great central location.
Functional, but not fancy, studio in Downtown Atlanta
This property is conveniently located near Peachtree Center (3 min walk). I was in Atlanta for an event at the Georgia World Congress Center, which is approximately a 20 min walk from the studio. I enjoyed eating at the White Oak Kitchen (right across from the studio), Alma Coccino, and Sweet Georgia Juke's (both a 5 min walk). There is also food court at Peachtree Center, but get there early because many of the food booths are closed by 5:30p.
The studio is small but adequate for a couple. The front desk concierge are cordial, but not incredibly friendly. I wonder how well the apartment was cleaned before my arrival. I found a single dirty sock next to the fold down futon, some small pieces of trash on the floor, and the corner of the bathtub rim was dusty. Some might find the apartment a bit noisy as it is located right across from the trash chute, however since I wear earplugs at night to sleep, I didn't have a problem with noise. The apartment walls and doors do seem thin as I could hear doors closing and conversations in the hallway. Checkout is at 11am. There is no place to store your bags if you need to check out but would still like to stay in the area. I checked my bags at a nearby hotel, where a friend was staying. Although I never met or spoke directly to the owner, she responded promptly (within 30-60 min) to my VRBO messages.
Overall, this studio fulfilled my needs but was not fancy. For someone who plans to spend most of the day out exploring and only come back to rest and sleep, this studio is completely fine. The price is reasonable compared to the nearby hotels, with the convenience of a kitchen. I would stay again.
