5 bedroom, 3 bath ocean block home. Just steps to the beach and boardwalk!
This house truly offers a unique beach experience. The house was built by my great-grandparents in 1929 and has stayed in the family ever since. They named the home "Adelmare," which is Italian meaning "by the sea". My family and I truly cherish this house and we are excited to be able to share it with others!
The house is second from the beach and boardwalk, and just a block away from scenic Silver Lake. Open the windows to feel the ocean breeze in the summer, or cozy up next to the wood burning fireplace in the spring or fall. Adelmare offers a large, wrap-around screened porch and a smaller, more private screened in porch in the back of the house. The front porch is ideal for chatting with friends, reading a good book or having a meal on the large dining table. There are also two decks upstairs; one in the front of the house and one in the back. The decks are my favorite spot for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning, or lounging in the sun in the afternoon. The stone patio, which holds a picnic table and four Adirondack chairs, is a magical spot situated in our tree-laden grove. Adelmare even has a shuffleboard court. Play a game after a day at the beach! The house is only a short walk or bike ride to Rehoboth Avenue, where you will find restaurants and shops galore.
There are five bedrooms and three baths in the house. Four of the bedrooms are located upstairs along with two of the bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds, and two rooms have two twin beds in each. The upstairs bathrooms are located in the hallway just outside of the rooms. The downstairs bedroom is located just off of the kitchen and offers a double bed, tv, and a private bathroom. This bedroom has it's own semi-private screened porch (connects to the kitchen and the rest of the house) and can be accessed separately if you choose, from the outside of the home. Perfect for those wanting some additional privacy!
The living room offers a large, open space complete with a wood burning fireplace, flat screen cable TV, and plenty of seating as well as Wi-Fi internet access. Play a board game or have a puzzle going on the card table. Long, cushioned window bench seats provide the ideal space to curl up with a good book on a rainy day!
The dining room opens into the living room and the table has easy seating for 8, if not more. The dining room also opens onto the front porch, through double doors, where you will find another table suitable for 6 or more. Plenty of seating, indoors and out.
The kitchen has all the appliances you will need including refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, oven, coffee maker, blender, etc. The washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen. Additionally, there is a second refrigerator in the garage, should you need the extra space.
We also offer an ocean kayak and 4 adult bikes!
We do require a rental agreement to be signed upon booking.

About Merritt Cooch
I live with my husband and our three wonderful dogs, Winnie, Hunny and Buca in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I love experiencing all that Rehoboth has to offer, and spend as much time as I can on the beach! I am a licensed Realtor with Jack Lingo INC - REALTOR in Lewes, Delaware. I am very active, I work out at our local CrossFit gym frequently and am always up for a new, fun adventure. I travel to Maine when I can and hope to travel even more in the future. I'm excited to offer my family's home on VRBO and let others experience the same fun I had growing up in this house by the beach.

Why Merritt Cooch chose South Rehoboth
The property was built by my great-grandparents in 1929. It has been passed down through generations ever since. The house is so special to me and I whenever I step inside the house, it is like going back in time! I hope others will appreciate the charm and history the house holds. It's truly a unique place. And you can't beat the location!
What makes this House unique
Not only is the house unique itself, but it offers so much wonderful outdoor space. Between the porches, decks and patio, there is always a quiet spot to relax. The house is surrounded by trees and foliage, so there is constant privacy which is very unique to Rehoboth! You will feel like you are in your own little world while staying at this house.

Beautiful Old Rehobeth beach house in a great location.
A group of friends stayed for a long weekend, and we loved the large porch and large family room for hanging out. Beach access is superb, and an easy walk to Rehoboth Ave - perfect location! The house was very clean, plenty of beds and bedrooms, and kitchen was well-equipped. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the showers - small and in need of updating. But, I would definitely stay again!
Terrific! What grandfather's country house should have looked like
We had a wonderful time at Merrit’s place in South Rehoboth beach. Two of our sons joined us with their families (four grandchildren). The house itself is what one might imagine fondly as your grandfather’s place but much nicer than grandfather’s place actually was. It has large wood-paneled rooms and importantly a huge wrap-around porch where we spent a great deal of time. It has a very effective air-conditioning system for hot days. The kids had a great time exploring nooks and crannies and the adults could enjoy ample space to sit and talk. An added benefit was a well-stocked library with fascinating historical books. The house is well-supplied with bicycles, boogie boards, kayaks and beach equipment. Because our grandkids are young we did not use them a great deal, but they are available.
The location could not be better. The house is one house away from Rehoboth Beach at the southern end of the boardwalk. It is about half a mile from the central part of the boardwalk so we could walk every evening to the commotion and excitement of the central boardwalk (and get delicious ice cream), but we could return to our quiet private oasis to recharge our batteries.
We did not meet Merrit, but we talked to her several times. She was extremely helpful and responsive giving us ideas for what to do around Rehoboth.
Our family (including 3 smaller grandchildren) enjoyed a wonderful week in Rehoboth. The home was beautiful, air conditioning was superb and the vintage look and feel was welcoming. Many of us enjoyed reading about and viewing the original blueprints of the home along with many other tidbits. The kitchen was well stocked for us to be able to cook our meals and sit around the extra large dining table together. My 94 year old mother came with us and the bedroom with a full bath and porch off of the kitchen made her stay easy and also extremely enjoyable. Bicycles, beach chairs, umbrellas, rafts and even a baby pool with a cover were available for us which also made our packing at home much easier. Thank you for a wonderful week allowing us to make many new memories!
We all had a wonderful time staying at the Vintage 1929 beach house in Rehoboth Beach. This house was perfect for our family and grandchildren. Lot's of room, great bedrooms, living areas, very relaxing, etc. The porch became our favorite place to be - the best - to relax, read, have a drink before dinner, and chill before bed. It was great to have umbrellas and beach chairs in the garage. Unfortunately, we didn't use the bikes. Walking to the beach was so easy - great when you have little ones. There is so much wonderful history in this house, I'm so glad that my family became part of that history! We may be back next year!
Lovely home and perfect location!
Nice, historic home with a fantastic location. We loved the porch, walking the boardwalk, easy beach access, complete where-to-go guide, and history of the home. Property owner was very accommodating and responsive. Plenty of beach chairs and 2 great beach umbrellas for use. Kids loved shuffleboard.
Great summer fun!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the "beach house". It was right on the boardwalk and the beach. I just parked my car for the week in the driveway, and walked to everything! The house is large enough for everyone to enjoy alone time, but easily fit us all together for games and meals. The additional refrigerator in the garage allowed us to store everything easily. I think Merritt and her husband are doing a tremendous job with the vintage house. I was pleased with the outdoor shower head, but would like an enclosure around it so I could completely wash all the sand out of my bathing suit, but it was perfectly usable and I appreciate the opportunity to clean the beach off before heading inside. I think the "vintage 1929 beach house" can build great summer memories. Thank you for your house.
Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you all enjoyed your visit. You were wonderful guests, please come back anytime and make some more summer memories! And I will certainly investigate some options for the outdoor shower.
