Located In The Nationally Registered Historic Holy Cross Neighborhood
The "Caffin House" is a 2 story home built in 1888. We are proud to share that the Caffin House, part of the Holy Cross Historic District, has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. This one-of-a-kind home freshly renovated and restored to its former glory, is situated one block from the Mississippi River. High ceilings, chandeliers, and original heart pine floors throughout! Central AC/Heat, internet, off- street parking and plenty of street parking.
This is where you come to relax from the busy French Quarter, just 2.8
miles away!
It features three elegantly appointed bedrooms upstairs all with custom blackout Roman shades, new mattresses, linens, and pillows. A romantic master bedroom with an enticingly draped, cast iron, canopy Cal King sized bed, decorative fireplace, mantle, Smart TV, and en-suite. Master bath includes wood wainscoting, gorgeous double slipper clawfoot tub beneath a chandelier, two views through the sheer curtains make it dreamy. Master bath also has a spacious rain head shower with gold glass niches and a double vanity.
The Master bedroom features double pocket doors (originally from the Benjamin Button movie set) that open up to the Queen bedroom creating a large 2 room suite or 2 separate bedrooms. The Queen room offers a queen-sized bed with a custom bed crown for a royal slumber, antique armoire and a decorative fireplace.
The Violet bedroom houses a European antique full-sized bed, armoire, and chest of drawers.
The Caffin house offers 3 designer bathrooms, each with a chandelier above a generously spaced glass shower. 2 full baths upstairs and 1 full bath downstairs.
Traditional enclosed parlor with antique burgundy velvet furniture, chandelier, and original tiger oak columned fireplace mantle. Parlor has original turn of the century pocket doors that open up to the dining room.
Formal dining room with gorgeous original columned fireplace mantle, custom made damask velvet curtains, long dining table with restored chairs of yesteryear, and an antique chandelier.
Luxuriously, spacious - open floor plan kitchen & lounge area are the most modern additions to the house. 8 foot leather granite kitchen island with small bar sink, and 4 counter stools beneath 2 gorgeous chandeliers. Here you will find a coffee and tea station to begin your day. Classic lace balloon curtains allow the natural light in to your morning. Kitchen is outfitted with cutlery, dishes, utensils, glasses, cookware, microwave, blender, small convection oven, coffee maker, refrigerator, and dishwasher.
The house also has a front porch, back deck, 2nd floor spacious back balcony with ceiling fans and a small view of the downtown New Orleans skyline. Downtown fireworks shows are enjoyed from here on New Year's Eve and Fourth of July. You can see ships cruise by occasionally from this balcony as we are only 1 block from the Mississippi River.
For those that love old houses, ours has its original fireplace mantles, pocket doors, stained glass windows, restored wood windows, staircase, floors, doors with transoms, original doorknobs, and woodwork throughout. These features made us fall in love with the house as soon as we laid on eyes on her. She was a diamond in the rough when we found her as a blighted house. This is now our home and we are happy to be able to share it when we are out of town.

Why Jane chose Holy Cross
The Caffin House chose us to buy her, take care of her, and bring her back to what she always wanted to be-a gorgeous Victorian style home in the historic district of Holy Cross. The home is a gem. We discovered her on a whim while driving in the neighborhood. Her presence commanded our attention even though her windows were all boarded up, before we knew she would be ours... off we were - giving her love, life, and attention along the way. Now, The Caffin House is ready to make your stay a wonderful one!
What makes this House unique
The home is fully restored in every way imaginable. New electrical, plumbing, foundation, insulation, walls, lighting, kitchen, antique furniture, hi-speed internet, keyless entry, plenty of parking, laundry for longer stays, front and back deck and 2nd story balcony!
