Everything was as expected. This unit fit our needs perfectly. Townsend is a good location for a visit to the Smoky Mountains. Even though there is a campground next door, it was quiet and felt secluded. The only suggestion I would make is the visibility of the property entrance. We arrived at night and the entry to the road for the property was difficult to see. Other than that, we had a great time!
Riversound is charming and the river refreshing!
The cabin was cozy, fit our needs, and the location is great! Townsend is not too far from Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge but far enough away that it is quiet without much traffic. The cabin was a little difficult to find as the driveway is not marked but it is directly next door to a campground called Lazy Daze. We had no issue with the cabin being next to the campground as others have suggested. I have kids so they were probably noisier than the campers. We were able to tube the Little River several times during our stay which was included with our cabin rental. One time I had an issue with River Rat and the free tubing but other than that we really had a blast! Waking up to the river each morning was awesome and it provided us with a place to cool off after our daily adventures. The cabin was pretty well equipped for cooking they just didn't have measuring cups but that's no big deal. The AC worked great, loft bed and bedding was so comfortable, and the two bedrooms were super cute, and the kids said they were comfortable too. Check out the sweet shop just up the road (part of the KOA campground) for some delicious fudge and ice cream. There's a Dollar General, Ace Hardware, and IGA grocery store with a gas station just up the road as well as a great outdoor outfitter shop where my husband spend a lot of time. Our family truly loved Riversound and we will for sure book it again!
Thank you for this wonderful review! We have had measuring cups in the past and they will definitely be replaced ASAP!
The pictures don't really show how nice this cabin is. Clean and comfortable. New A/C system worked great and kept the cabin very comfortable during our stay in July. Great location with good privacy. Although there is a campground next to the cabin, there was barely any noise at all. Back deck is practically over the little river. Went tubing several times for free- definitely take advantage of this offer. Cabin was perfect for our family of 5. Highly recommend.
Great Townsend Cabin
Great cabin! It’s nice and central to everything. Only a few minutes from Cades Cove and a quick drive to Gaitlinburg or Pigion Forge.
The cabin was open concept, so you can always spend time with people. Even if your cooking! I found this cabin just enough space for my family of four. The beds in the lower bedrooms are doubles so I feel it would be pretty squeezed if there were 2 people sleeping in there. I loved the loft and how spacious it was! I do wish there was another dresser because we didn’t have much space for clothing. The stairs are also a little steep so be very careful!
The cabin also has a large beautiful deck viewing a mountain and a river. It’s absolutely stunning! We could have sat out there all day! Even on the dry days, it wouldn’t dry up though. I suppose it’s wet because of the moisture from the river. The week that we went unfortunately experienced a lot of rain. We were still able to enjoy it from inside because there were windows all the way up to the ceiling! They definitely can use some cleaning though. That’s all you can see when it’s dark outside.
The tubing at River Rat was free because it’s included with your stay. We all had the best time going down that river!
Over all the cabin was well worth the money and I would love to stay again with my family.
We have finally been able to schedule our "spring cleaning", so the windows are clean!
"RiverSound" aptly named
This cabin is quite cozy. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and the AC worked great. I was disappointed that the fireplace was electric and not gas or wood burning. The windows to the deck could use cleaning but the sound of that river while sitting on the deck made those things seen minor. I definitely would stay at RiverSound again!
Overall our stay was good and the cabin served our needs... but there were some issues
My family of 4 just spent 3 nights in this cabin. Overall our stay was good and the cabin served our needs... size, number of beds and it was pretty clean. The proximity and sounds of the river from the deck were fantastic, but I probably would not have booked it if I had known it was just feet away from a campground (Lazy Daze). Luckily weather was cool and not too many campers were outside so it was quiet. The location in Townsend was a good choice for us to access the Smoky Mtns and avoid the crowds and commercialism in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (just not great being next to a campground). The bathroom was clean and updated. The 2 bedrooms though small were also clean and updated. All the beds were comfortable and the cabin had all the necessities plus wifi and a washer and dryer which were a nice bonus. So overall it served us well, but could certainly use some more cleaning/updating. The large windows looking out to the river were exceptionally dirty... the grill was dirty, there were cobwebs up in the ceiling, a couple burnt out light bulbs, the heater upstairs was not working and the toaster should probably be replaced. The stairs to the loft (where the king size bed is) are very steep (and slippery with just socks) and the lighting is poor... soit may not be a good choice for older people. All fairly minor issues for us, but should be aware of. Also it was almost impossible to find this place. There is nothing marked at the road or on the house that states the address or that it is the Riversound Cabin.
