Beautiful waterfront house is a perfect get-away for family fun and offers over 100 feet of direct lake frontage on a level lot including a private sandy beach area, dock and swim raft. Enjoy relaxing days spent lounging on the beach or take a paddle around the lake in the canoe or one of our kayaks. The kids can take the paddleboat out for a spin and enjoy exploring the sand bar located within swimming distance of the beach. There is also a row boat, horseshoes and a large grassy area for lawn games. My son has named this property Lakeshire as a nod to the Hobbit and the peaceful nature of the Shire.
Each season brings a new way to enjoy this home. There are opportunities for swimming, fishing, kayaking, biking, fall foliage, hiking and much more! The lake has no public boat launch which keeps boat traffic to a minimum. We are located at the north end of the lake providing views of both sunrise and sunset and sun all day long.
This inviting waterfront retreat offers an open floor plan for the first floor with a beautiful view of the lake, three bedrooms and two full baths. The first floor has sliding doors that open to the deck area with outdoor table and chairs. The living room area has a TV and VCR/DVD player and a selection of movies, or bring your own. Enjoy peaceful dinners with lake views in the dining area that seats 6 comfortably or outside on the deck. Kitchen area has counter bar with seating for 3. Upstairs bedrooms sleeps 8 comfortably. The master suite overlooks the lake with a comfortable queen size bed and bathroom has a large closet and a shower and tub. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed and the third bedroom has a set of bunk beds and an additional queen bed.
Outside, there is a gazebo to sit in the shade while watching the kids play on the beach or play badminton. The large sandy beach area is perfect for building sandcastles or playing horseshoes or just hanging out. The beach has a gradual entry into the water that is perfect for children, and the older kids love the swim raft. A fire pit beckons for nighttime fun roasting marshmallows or making S’mores by the water’s edge. The property sits on a generous 1 acre lot with an inlet on one side so there are lovely water views and plenty of space.
Air conditioning is rarely needed, but there is a wall unit in the master bedroom and the living room. There is no phone landline at the house, and cell service can be spotty, but we have wireless high speed internet (bring your own computer/wireless device).
For a little exercise and a 100 mile view, climb Mt Monadnock, the most climbed mountain in the world according to Wikipedia and only about 30 minutes from the house. Horses and trail rides are also about 30 minutes away. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of Cathedral of the Pines, 15 miles away. We are 10 minutes to Mt Watatic and The Mid State Trail (hiking), 30 minutes to Wachusett Mountain, which offers hiking, biking, chairlift rides to the summit. This is a rural area but nearby towns such as Gardner or Leominster, MA, and Keene or Peterborough, NH are 30 minutes away for movies, bowling, plays, museums, etc. For some family fun, try Davis' Farmland and MegaMaze, 45 minutes from the property which has amusements for younger kids through teenagers. Want an adventure for adults? The oldest commercial skydiving center, Jumptown, is located 45 minutes away in Orange, MA. Or just stay at the lakehouse and relax! We are 90 minutes outside of Boston, 2 hrs. from Hartford. Located near Cushing Academy.
