Our Kaloko Mauka property sits at 2500 feet above sea level on the slopes of the Hualalai Crater. Enjoy a cooler climate featuring canopy ferns, wild parrots and endangered Hawaiian Hawks all just minutes from the most beautiful beaches under the sun. Our crystal blue waters are home to exotic fish, some found only in the Hawaiian Island chain, turtles, dolphins, whales and manta rays.

This lovely Ohana is on the lower level of our home and is very private, comfortable and ready for your vacation visit. Come and enjoy some “Hawaiian Time”.

Notes:
The Kailua-Kona Coast has the most colorful and spectacular pink, lavender, and orange sunsets in Hawaii. Maybe you’ll be lucky and spot the famous 'Green Flash” at sunset, as the sun dips behind the horizon. You can watch the incredible Kona sunsets right from one of the decks or the lanai, as well as the cruise ships, para-sailing, whales and dolphins. The Kailua-Kona Historical Village is a short drive towards the coast. The Village is very quaint, with lots of charm and good shopping right along the water’s edge. Some of the activities you can find in the Village and nearby are: beaches, luau’s, farmer’s markets, art galleries, jewelry shops, restaurants, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, boogie boarding, and deep sea fishing…Just about every water sport you can think of! There are also several great golf courses nearby. There is so much to do to stay active, or you can do nothing and just lounge on the beach.

Great place to stay.

Good Location. Quite and private. Huge lanai. Up on the mountain with lower more comfortable temperature in the evening and night (kona is hot.!!!).Lots of space and high ceilings. The only reason why it's not 5 star is because of housekeeping. Unit was clean when we came but it's seems like it hasn't been rented out for a while so everything had this weird smell to it. Especially towels.same with blankets and extra stuff in the closet. also had to kill couple of cockroaches on our first night. gravel driveway sucks.

From Canada to Paradise

My husband and I spent 3 weeks at this suite. We found the place to be quiet, private, safe, very clean, peaceful and spacious. Everything we possibly needed was available at the apartment. (BBQ, snorkel gear, beach chairs, freezer, wifi, private parking, etc.)

The short driveway, uphill to our parking spot was a bit of a challenge, but our Nissan sedan handled it.

The acreage is in a cloud forest, so it was beautiful every morning and often foggy in the afternoon when we were away at the beach or touring elsewhere.

We did not mind the approximate 10 minute drive up the mountain. We appreciated the separation from the touristy areas near and in Kona. It was an easy drive to Kona, shopping, restaurants and the airport. The connecting roads to all other areas on the island were easily accessible.

Our hosts were very kind and responded quickly if we had a concern or a question. They shared fresh eggs and garden vegetables with us. Otherwise, we were completely independent. It really felt like our home away from home.

We would choose this property and family again if we visit the Big Island in the future.

Quiet neighborhood at an elevation of 2500 feet for cooler temperature makes sleeping very comfortable. Conveniently located just 15 minutes to Kailua Kona and 1/4 mile from walking trails with canopy ferns, great for hiking/biking & horse riding. Within a 1/2 days drive to all of The Big Island Attractions. Located on the dryer West side of the Big Island and just minutes to beaches, shopping and Airport.

This is a small working farm and includes the sights and sounds of country living. We do not have roosters but we do have hens, goats, two large dogs an old cat, wild pheasants, turkeys, quail, parrots and an occasional pig family. There are also neighborhood dogs that occasionally bark. We have two large garden vegetable plots and one with pineapples. We also have a young citrus orchard that is beginning to produce fruit. We have a beautiful pond with waterfalls and a large deck for evening sunset and star gazing.
