About Kathy McKinnon/Owner/Property Manager

We are transplanted South Georgia folk who live in the upstate of beautiful South Carolina. We fell in love with Maggie Valley while on vacation. We decided to buy a cabin that we could enjoy and rent out to guests for extra income during our retirement years. What a great decision! My husband is a fixer upper and I love hosting guests so we make a great team. We look forward to many years enjoying this exciting and lovely area as we host guests and explore the region. Happy trails!

Why Kathy McKinnon/Owner/Property Manager chose Maggie Valley

We love this cabin because of the location. The beautiful valley with mountain views, wildlife, various hikes and waterfalls are fun, exciting and yet so peaceful. The cabin is rustic with lots of room and charm. It if fully equipped for all your needs. It is like trading one home for another. The back porch is so relaxing with a view of the mountains that always inspires. There is so much to see and do in this area and it is a great place to just kick back and relax!

What makes this cabin unique

Within walking distance of Maggie Valley shops, restaurants and events that bikers and families love to experience. The cabin has year round accessibility for winter activities and also includes a 2 car garage which bikers especially like for parking their bikes. We also have great elk viewing in the side meadow of the cabin. It is home away from home with a beautiful mountain view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for allowing us to be your "first" guests. The cabin is far more than we ever expected and my family are already asking "when can we come back?" Your assistance in making this weekend as special as it has been will never be forgotten. (wedding party) We truly appreciate you being such a gracious hostess. May you and yours be blessed beyond measure.

Comfortable and well situated. Loved our time at Maggie's Hope.

The cabin was wonderful. It was great for the 6 of us. Kathy was very responsive and helpful. The cabin had everything we needed.

Being able to see elk most evenings was a great experience. We talked with a neighbor who was wonderful. The kids played out back, the neighbors kind enough to over look them drifting in and out of the surrounding yards.

We were close to town and the local restaurants. Being early spring, there were limits on what was open. But the open restaurants and shops were quite nice.

We drove into the park a couple of days. Even though the weather wasn't great, we enjoyed the mountains. We were close to Soco Falls so we stopped there as well. Beautiful double falls.

We would definitely stay at Maggie's Hope again. It was our home away from home.

Thanks, Kathy, for making our stay wonderful!

The cabin is very easy to find and close to the main street in downtown Maggie Valley. Great views off the back porch. All the simple but important details like linen, soaps and toiletries are provided by the owners. We will definitely return.

Awesome! Clean and cozy, accessible to area's attractions

Kathy was super kind and professional to work with. Very quick to respond with any questions. The cabin is well cared for, well stocked, and has a just like home feel. We enjoyed playing games both inside and outside. It is centrally located to all things fun in Maggie Valley! Loved seeing the robin red breasts on the lawn. Missed the elk in the backyard, but saw some near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Frankie's Italian trattoria is a great restaurant (will not disappoint) close to the cabin!! My kids enjoyed walking to the nearby creek and playing ball in the yard. We walked up the street and saw a nice little waterfall and some cows in the grass.

Perfect home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five had a great stay here. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. Very close to ski area and Cherokee casino. We also spent time at the Biltmore Estate before heading to the cabin. The ride from Biltmore to the cabin was less than one hour. We enjoyed some great pizza from Maggie Valley Pizzeria....great delivery service. Thank you to Kathy (owner) for making our transaction with the cabin so easy! We will definitely return!
