About Kathy McKinnon/Owner/Property Manager
We are transplanted South Georgia folk who live in the upstate of beautiful South Carolina. We fell in love with Maggie Valley while on vacation. We decided to buy a cabin that we could enjoy and rent out to guests for extra income during our retirement years. What a great decision! My husband is a fixer upper and I love hosting guests so we make a great team. We look forward to many years enjoying this exciting and lovely area as we host guests and explore the region. Happy trails!

We enjoyed our wonderful stay at your cabin. Everything from swinging on the back porch, driving through the mountains, shopping, eating, and sitting on the bench by the large meadow watching the deer (within 20 feet of us!). The cabin was very clean and sat in the middle of a quiet little neighborhood. Kathy was very helpful with suggestions which made our stay even more pleasant. We hope to return soon!
Cozy, comfortable mountain cabin.
Imagine stepping into a comfortable, cozy, mountain with the weather just perfect for sitting on the porch waiting to see some elk. We never did see any, but we continued to enjoy the beautiful view. Kathy is wonderful to work with - quick to answer any questions. I believe the twin beds are going to be replaced and then the sleeping provisions will be great.
glorious mountain view
have stayed in several cabins in the area and this was by far the best view of all! my family loved the cozy cabin and everyone had a room of their own.we live in the city and are use to all the hustle bustle around but was nice to get away from all of that and relax in the rockers on the porch and just tak together and bond, for i have adult children that dont usually do things like that.we didnt see elk this time but did see deer and even a badger coming in the area, both were nice to see.we had to cut our visit short this time due to hurricane on the way in our hometown but will definitely return to try again for the elk and other mountain creatures in the near future.i can not say enough about how helpful and kind Kathy is and even offered us a free night if we wanted to get out of danger from the storm coming in our hometown, we didnt accept but sure was an act of kindness for sure!thanks for allowing us to say in your quaint cabin Kathy, we will be back if God willing!
Everything they said it was and than some
It was a great place to stay and having the garage to pull our motorcycles into was a big plus.
BEAUTIFUL views, PEACEFUL, we LOVED it! stayed July30-Aug3 2018
-very easy communication with quick replies from the owner
-beautiful, spacious, CLEAN and comfortable!
-has anything you could possibly need if you forgot to pack something and need it before you can run to the store
-loved having the washer/dryer there to wash our wet clothing after returning from rainy mounting hikes
-convenient location to Waynesville for groceries and dining, and to Gatlinburg, Cherokee, Cataloochee Valley (lots of elk) Asheville for sightseeing/shopping/bowling/movies/more dining..etc.
- SoCo falls is close and easy to get to from this location. We also enjoyed the view from the 9 story tower at SoCo Tower & gifts store
- didn't get to see elk from the house, but we did enjoy the turkey flock (about14 of them) that came out every morning and evening we were there, we even saw some rabbits and groundhogs as well and lots of hummingbirds
- it rained on us everyday we were there, but the spacious back porch still allowed up to sit there morning and evening and enjoy the view and wildlife without getting wet.
- Joey's Pancake House is a must for breakfast/brunch - don't be discouraged if there is a line..they move customers in and out quickly and the food was great!
- also got to enjoy a mini-golf game at Fantasy Golf and Gameroom before leaving town -the sun came out the morning we had to leave. $5 game and very friendly staff there.
- We absolutely loved our stay here and were sad to leave. It truly felt like a home away from home. We look forward to returning!
