Why Susan Provins chose Poipu

We have been coming to Kauai for many years to visit our daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is not hard to fall in love with Kauai it is a beautiful place. We chose our condo due to the location on the South Shore and the proximity to the beach.

What makes this condo unique

Our beautiful condo is family owned and operated. We care about your stay and that you enjoy your time in Kauai.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My husband and I visited Kauai for the first time after vacationing on Maui for several years. We like the area in Poipu; walking distance to many restaurants and shops, and love your condo! Nicely decorated with good quality bedding, towels, kitchen utensils. Nice beach chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards and beach toys. We truly felt like we were visiting in your home. Susan emailed excellent directions from Lihue airport and Margie was delightful, helping with any questions we had during our month stay. Mahalo nui loa to you both for a wonderful month. Aloha until next year.

Very clean, very nice condo

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed the condo. It was just as described--close to Poipu Beach, nice pool, etc. It rained a couple days and was humid in the condo--you just need to be prepared for no AC--but otherwise everything was great!

Best winter location & amenities!!

  • 5 of 5

Sea turtles, seals, & sandy beach all walking distance! Heated pool & even tennis courts. Perfect place for 2 kids (ages 3 & 5) & parents. Short drive to Waimea Canyon & whale tours out of Port Allen (stop at brewery, KIBC). We had most sun on island in Jan/Feb & kids loved Poipu & Brennecke beach. No a/c but plenty of fans & bedrooms downstairs. Great front/rear lanai too!

Condo well furnished, w/an updated kitchen, & stocked w/beach gear (chairs, umbrella, sand toys, boogie boards). Bathrooms dated but all well maintained, clean, & comfortable.

Gas up rental car at Costco, stock up on food & sunscreen, pack snorkel gear & prepare for a great vacation.

Check out Wailu falls, Smith’s Luau (show only), N shore (Hanalei bay) & Salt Pond Beach (turtles here too!) Whale boat tours during season fun!

#1 island - beats Oahu, Maui, & big Is.

A great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great 3 night stay at this condo. It is so close to everything in Poipu and it worked perfectly for our family. We had an issue when we arrived at the condo that was addressed and resolved promptly by Susan. Overall highly recommend.

We Love Nihi Kai!

  • 4 of 5

Loved our 10 days there. As usual, didn't want to leave.

Location, location, location! Short walk to Breneke Beach, where I love body surfing in the morning before the crowds get there. Short walk past that to Poipu Beach. There were beach chairs, towels, and snorkeling gear in the condo.

The condo is spacious, clean, and nicely furnished with an updated kitchen. This is our 4th time at Nihi Kai so we know what to expect. I am over 6 feet tall so I love the deep pool at Nihi Kai. The wi fi worked great too. I also like the fact that the bedrooms are downstairs so you can sleep in while others are having breakfast. Also, the grounds are nicely furnished and kept up well. Parking is close to the condo. Washer and dryer are a big plus.

It is a short drive to the Poipu Shopping Center or even into Koloa Town for supplies. There is a Redbox in the Poipu Shopping Center if you want to rent a movie.

There is no AC but we knew that going in . There is both a ceiling and floor fan in the bedrooms.

We had a late flight to LA our last day so were allowed to stay in the condo until 3 PM, a big plus. Had time to go to the beach , shower, and change. All in all another great stay at Nihi Kai!

Our return visit to Paradise

  • 5 of 5

After a four year hiatus, we planned our return trip to paradise. Our last trip included four islands but this time we chose Big Island and Kauai. Two weeks on each island would provide us ample time to recall the past and more importantly see new areas and tourist sites.

Our return trip to Nihi Kai Villas on the south shore, near Poipu Beach was a must. A different condo unit, very nicely appointed with many amenities, kitchen accessories, pots, pans dishes and utensils to make in-house cooking an easy task for any duration of stay (long or short). Abundant storage space through-out the unit with the added benefit of beach and snorkel equipment.

Once the luggage was inside, we wasted no time walking the grounds and found the pool remodelled from our previous trip. An open view of the ocean by removing a portion of the south stone wall and the pool now includes two separate sitting areas (below the water surface). The grounds are very well maintained and lush.

Daily walks to Poipu Beach to confirm sea turtles and monk seals on the sandy shores is a must. There is also a walkway starting a short block away from the complex that provides a lengthy but direct walking path to the Marriot Resort and Shipwreck Beach.

Lihue is a short drive away for Costco, Walmart, Kmart, Safeway, Gaylord’s Plantation, restaurants, etc. but you will find many alternative sites much closer to the condo complex. Some are within a short walking distance but many within a short drive.

Daily activities of sun tanning or road trips along the west, east and north coastlines allowed us many enjoyable sight-seeing trips. During our travels we found numerous new restaurants plus returned to favourites from our previous visit (Gaylords’s Sunday Brunch at Kilohana Plantation, Keoki’s, Brick Oven Pizza, Kalaheo Café & Coffee Company in Kalaheo). Smith’s Family Luau in Wailua (north of Lihue) provided an evening of dinner and entertainment under the stars, another must while on the island.

Our two weeks on Kauai came to a rapid closure…we both enjoyed every moment while in the condo, on the property and beyond! Truly Paradise but our return to Canada was necessary.

Mahalo to Susan (booking) and Margie (on the island) for their very professional assistance with our pre-planning, booking and on-site inquiries. Thank you for opening up your beautiful condo to guests and making our visit so enjoyable. We cannot wait for a return visit.

Map

We are steps away from the ocean front and a short walk to Poipu State Park and Brennecke's Beachfront restaurant and beach. We enjoy morning walks on the beach and spending the day with family on the beach at Poipu State Park. On your beach front walks it is very likely you will come across a Hawaiian Monk Seal or a Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle that has come up on the beach for a rest.
