Three Bedroom, Three Bath 3500 Sq.ft . Home. Very Clean And Full Of Amenities
About Julie Gendrich
Joe and I camped on this land since 1992. Our goal was to build our dream home after the kids were done with school. We had many years of camping and imagining where the house would be, how the floor plan would be. in 2005 the plans were final and in 2006, we were done camping. We decided to make the move from Elkhorn Wi to Hayward in 2006. Grandchildren fill our lives now and we tend to travel more to see them and the rest of the family, leaving this home for you to enjoy! We do stay here in the winter months. It is as beautiful here in the winter as it is in the summer, a little more quiet, for sure. Though this chain of lakes is very quiet, anyway. Most of the hustle and bustle is on the Chippewa flowage. That is not what we wanted, we wanted seclusion, but not too far from town. We wanted wildlife, nature and that's what we got. Bears roamed here when we built and that's when we decided not to build stairs going from the deck down to the lake because they could come up the stairs and meet you for coffee in the morning, uninvited. Our home is your home for a week, two weeks or a month. We will continue to rent until we downsize as age creeps in. Enjoy yourselves
Julie Gendrich purchased this House in 2006
Why Julie Gendrich chose Hayward
When Joe was a child, he vacationed up here with his family. I vacationed on the eastern part of the up north. When we married, we decided to come up here because he had great fishing memories. We bought this property because it is on a quite chain of lakes with much nature to watch. Our children came up here and camped with us every summer until we "ruined their camp ground "with the building of the home. We looked at numerous pieces of land. This lot was being divided off of the home located to the west of us. The price was right, the slope to the lake was right, the view was right and the rest is history.
What makes this House unique
The uniqueness of this home is the quietness . Sometimes it's so quite, you lay in bed just waiting to hear something. You don't need curtains because the trees hide you from view. On a clear night,You can sit in th living room with all the lights off and look at the stars through the windows. You can enjoy the huge fire pit every night with camp fires. It's romantic, it's quite, it's nature.

Awesome 4th of July vacation!
This cabin/lodge was so nice. There were 6 of us adults in our family (3 couples) that each were able to have their own bathroom and bedroom. Lots of room indoors and outdoors for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter to run and play.
We enjoyed the outside fire pit area, large yard, dock and the ability to have our fishing boat at the dock. The lake is smaller and just the right size for a boat ride and catching a few fish. The sunfish were abundant right off the dock.
We loved the enclosed deck on the upstairs, main level and the porch off the kitchen. Such a nice big kitchen with plenty of seating at the table for us all to gather.
Julie the owner was VERY responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely return. In fact if we come back to Hayward, I know this is where we will stay.
Family fun and relaxation
We enjoyed every aspect of this 5 day vacation. The cabin was so comfortable, loved the decor, enjoyed all the wall hangings. Had to make sure we spent time in every room, porch for cards on the last day. Had great nights at the campfire, you could touch the stars. Boating was great, explored the nature, saw deer, beaver, baby loons on the mamma's back, spectacular. Spent the days with wonderful weather on the water. Left the cabin one day for a short time to go to Hayward town for pizza at lunch. Otherwise we wanted to spend as much time as we could at the cabin. Kitchen area was great to gather, cook and eat. We really appreciated the hospitality and loved the cabin, thanks!!
A great place for a fun weekend in the woods.
The property is comfortable and feels like home. Everything was as described in the listing. The added bonus of the nesting loon just of the dock was great.
Thank you David for your review,
I’m so glad you enjoyed the home as well as the loon watching...she is sitting on two eggs and probably chose that spot due to the privacy she gets.
We were glad to host your “home away from home”
Thank you and we hope to see you return to the northland in the future.
Loved the place and caught some big fish!
Beautiful lake house and a great memorial weekend! Let us know if you ever decide to sell! ; )
Thank you for your review 😊We are so happy you had a great time.....if you revisit...I’ll leave the towels out😊Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Wonderful Weekend Getaway
We booked this home as a birthday gift for my husband and it didn't disappoint! Everything was beautiful and so inviting. My husband and I and our daughters (age 28 and 23) enjoyed every aspect of this wonderful home. Paddleboating, Bonfires, Morning coffee on the deck and heading into Hayward for an afternoon of fun. I would absolutely recommend this VRBO to my friends.
Leslie and family......I am so delighted your birthday surprise weekend was enjoyed by all! You had a great up north experience and we hope you return to Done Camping Lodge and visit Hayward area again.....we would love to host you and your family , the cleaning staff said you left the home so clean and they want you to know your ice cream did not go to waste......🤗...thank you.
Beautiful home with fully stocked kitchen! Entertainment for everyone in the family whether gaming or relaxing by the fire. Even our dog was entertained by the visiting wildlife. (Geese and deer- no bear thankfully!) Screened in 3 season room was a excellent for working on crafts. I was able to contact owners if we needed anything and the response was always quick and pleasant. If you are looking to get away from the chaos of the city, I recommend it. We were able to utilize the paddle boat and had the opportunity to use the canoe. Fishing is available off the dock, but to catch larger fish, you may wish to go further out via boat.
Regardless, had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it!

A well known bakery and a well known candy shop is located downtown. The fishing Hall of Fame is a must see from the mouth of the big fish and right behind the big fish is a beautiful beach for swimming on those hot days.
