The Home: This lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom 1921 Craftsman home sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms and offers old-fashioned comfort with vintage and modern amenities in 1500 sq. ft. Central heating and air conditioning keep temperatures comfortable.

The Neighborhood: Walk-able neighborhood, blocks to fun local eateries, shops, amenities and City bus; 10 minutes to downtown hot spots, 15 minutes to airport, San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park.

The Master Bedroom: Features a king bed, a bedside table and lamp on each side, mirrored closets doors and private garden view and outdoor seating, ample closet and drawer space, en suite bathroom with shower/tub and bidet. The sunny, east-facing Master Bedroom also features top-down, bottom-up shades, sheers and blackout drapes so you can sleep in!

The Guest bedroom: Features queen bed, a bedside table and lamp on each side, mirrored closets doors, shears, top-down, bottom-up shades and cozy reading chair, with reading lamp plenty of closet space. Full bath with tub/shower and a dresser across the hall.

Open Concept Kitchen/Dining Room/Deck: Roomy vintage kitchen offers dishwasher, wall oven, old-fashioned gas range/stove, side-by-side fridge/freezer, 2-person kitchen table. Dining room table seats 6 and features with French doors opening to the sunny south-facing deck with a 4-person patio table and umbrella. Next to the deck is our old picnic table and little charcoal BBQ.

For Starters: The Little Garden is a self-catered vacation rental but to get you off to a good start we supply starter quantities of coffee, tea, creamer pots, spices and condiments and plenty of cookware. The bathrooms include toothpaste and toothbrushes, soaps, shampoo, hair dryers and bath tissue. We also provide iron and ironing board.

The Grounds: Small, Private and tranquil gardens for you to enjoy surround the home, in a peaceful, cul-de-sac neighborhood. Depending upon the time of year, there may be fruits or vegetable fruiting in the gardens and you are welcome to them. Look for tangelos near the side gate in front, Meyer lemons on the sidewalk lawn, hot red peppers in pots across from the birdbath garden (handle those with your hands in plastic bags because they are very hot), blueberries in the island garden next to the back patio.

Note: The city of San Diego is upgrading the water main pipes and other street upgrades. From time to time, with little warning, popup detours will arise, streets will be dug up, work, noise and dust will ensue. Sometimes there will be an interruption of water service. I have no control over this but you will receive a door tag and/or a notice from me as soon as information is available. We hope the inconvenience will be brief and not interfere terribly with your vacation!

Although The Little Garden is within about a 20 minute drive to great San Diego Beaches, it is not a beach property and may not be ideal for your needs if the beach is the focus of your vacation. We do not offer beach umbrellas or chairs but we do supply our vintage beach towels (hallway dresser) and a styrofoam cooler (top of kitchen hutch) and freezer pack.

The charm of the older and historic neighborhoods of Mission Hills. After living in La Jolla and del Mar, when I was ready to buy a home of my own, this was the neighborhood that appealed most to me. The house is conveniently located to many amenities.

Within walking distance there are many great restaurants, shops, summer Cinema Under the Stars, Pioneer Park (free summer concerts) and tennis courts. It is within minutes of some of San Diego's finest attractions, including San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Old Town, Gas Lamp, Embarcadero, Coronado and many of our fine beaches.

You are 2 blocks from the city bus, 10 minute drive from the airport, train station, trolley, Comic-Con, 10 block walk to City DecoBike rent-a-bike station at Dove and Washington St. Garage is not offered but there is ample street parking and an entry gate on both streets of this corner lot.

Wonderful, charming home!!

Sandra’s goal was a 5 star visit...achieved.

Beautiful quiet neighborhood, home is supplied with everything you will need.

We had an “oops” our first day, it was resolved immediately.

If you’re looking for a rental in the San Diego area don’t miss this one.

Charming and well thought out

When I walked in I was immediately reminded of my Grandmother's craftsman bungalow in long ago Los Angles. The house is full of charm--books and antiques, but everything was functional and of modern design when it was appropriate. It was sparkling clean and perfectly equipped, as would be a second home. It is in a great walking location both to restaurants and shops and around a beautiful neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. Sandra couldn't have been faster responding both before and during our stay. The cheese and crackers she had waiting upon our arrival were wonderful. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was completely equipped for cooking meals in. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit San Diego.

Full of Soul home

A friend and I stayed for a week at the 'little garden, i.e. Orange door" home. The reviews were

so good that our expectations were high. From the moment we walked in seeing the dappled

shades of color coming thru the front shutters to the view of the back garden from the hallway

to the French doors with the garden beyond, we were hooked.

This full of soul home is a mix of the practical and the mystical. There is a creative force that lies hidden, and inspired us to slow down and savor what "it" was feeding us.

We enjoyed our meals outside and chose the back garden for tea/coffee when the sun was at

its warmest in the afternoon.

Not everyone will react this way but will be looking for a good kitchen/bed/access to airport

/freeways/landmarks/owner for questions ; This property rates 5 stars in all of the above.

But what would bring us back is the character of the home itself ; It is what we hold dear.

Great location and wonderful little house!

We spent one week at this delightful little craftsmen era house. Very well appointed with comfy beds and primo linens and pillows. We loved the patio and spent many hours relaxing there after our touring.
