~Please note~ If you would like to book our house for the same day someone else is checking out, please message us first to see if we can do it. I absolutely hate to decline bookings but some days it is not possible for our housekeeper to swing a same day turn. Thank you for understanding!
**Hurricane Harvey Update**
(8/4/2018) Almost 1 year has gone by since my favorite city in Texas was wounded by Hurricane Harvey. I had never been thru a hurricane before and let me tell you, I think about hurricanes often now! Rockport has recovered beautifully though and it's because people like you keep coming down to visit! Without all our wonderful visitors & guests who frequent the shops/restaurants/and guides there's no telling what might've happened to the city. So, even if our house isn't a good fit for you, THANK YOU for visiting and your continued support! There is still evidence the hurricane went thru but its minimal at this point. Unfortunately many of the fishing piers still aren't rebuilt yet but there are a few that are up. The huge fishing pier over Copano Bay is gone and it won't be rebuilt. The wonderful free aquarium in Rockport Harbor is still gone (I have not heard when or if it will be rebuilt). And the Big Blue Crab sculpture and large Rockport "plate" which welcomed you in to Rockport Beach and which were visible from our backyard have yet to be rebuilt. Please don't think twice about coming down though! We would love to have you and the city and all its businesses still need your continued support. Additionally, for anybody who is curious, Port A looks great as well. Thank you!
(1/20/18) I can't believe its been almost 5 months since Hurricane Harvey passed thru Rockport. Many people ask me how the town is doing, if things are still awful down here...and I am so happy to report that this little town has been super resilient! Many of the shops are open & all of my favorite restaurants have opened back up. All the debris that was piled around the city surrounding peoples homes is almost gone and seeing people fishing in Little Bay reminds me of normalcy here.Things really are feeling so much better. Our house is almost 100% up and back to normal :) Our decks have been completely rebuilt and our fence & gate are back up. We still have some minor siding damage to repair as well as replacing some of our outdoor decor which didn't make it but thats it! Feel free to come down and enjoy this beautiful town again! And as always, we would love to have you!
(9/17/17) This has been a very stressful time for our family. First having the eye pass directly over our beloved vacation town then being stuck in our house in Houston for a week because of the massive flooding we received. We finally were able to make it to Rockport on Labor Day to check on our house and survey the damage but we couldn't stay because there wasn't any power or clean water BUT we are so so so blessed/fortunate/happy to report that somehow our damage was minimal. We lost our fence, about 10 trees, our bottom deck and a few shutters but by some miracle the inside of our house was not touched! I honestly did not know if we would even have a house when all was said and done. It was a very traumatic and humbling experience to go through in both cities we call home. We went back to Rockport this weekend (the power is on and the water is clean!!) and worked our butts off on our yard...I have never raked, cut or hauled so much in a yard as I did this past weekend but I am proud of all our progress. We also are going to be able to save 2 of our large palm trees & 2 smaller palm trees in our backyard so that is great news! We are hoping to get the deck and fence up within the next 2 or 3 months (or faster if contractors are available!) and I am *confident* that we will rebuild and we will be even better than before! But we need you and so does Rockport! The town has some major wounds...unfortunately the crab and the plate which were visable from our backyard are gone. Favorite restaurants & stores have collapsed and rubble is everywhere but there is also hope. Volunteers & neighbors are everywhere and helping everyone. Steer Burger, Charlotte Plummers & Rositas (among many others!) are all open for business with more opening daily. Our house is available to you should you need it and know that we are working feverishly to get everything back to the way it was before however we just can't do long term rentals. Although we don't have nearly the amount of work as many, we still have much to do and will be coming down frequently. I will update more as we progress. Peace, Love & Rockport Strong!!! ~Pam & Jim
From the moment you step foot in "Little Bay Bungalow" you will be swept away by the killer beach vibes.
Upon entry our guests will immediately appreciate and notice the keyless lock on the front door. Once you step inside you will be in our warm and inviting living room. We have two couches (one of which pulls out into a queen size bed), two chairs & two bean bags for kids :) . We have a 36' flat panel TV for visitors to enjoy with cable however we really doubt you'll even ever turn it on (we rarely do when visiting Rockport) as well as DVD's located in the cabinet beneath the TV. The living room has many windows which overlook a few of our TWENTY large palm trees located on our lot. The living room is also open to the dining room which seats 6 very comfortably. The built-in hutch adds to our homes vintage charm and has board games which provide great entertainment on nights you aren't fishing.
Off the dining room is the kitchen which is fully stocked with everything you need to cook a fabulous meal. Rockport has quite the plethora of wonderful restaurants to dine at and being on vacation it is definitely fun to explore the cities dining options but sometimes it's just nicer to stay in and cook (especially if you have cantankerous children with you who are not interested in waiting for a table lol).
There are three bedrooms in our home. The master suite located at the front of the house has a queen bed. It also has a large ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower & has been completely updated. The second bedroom has two double beds and a closet full of toys to keep the little ones entertained. Located in the second bedroom closet is a pack-n-play as well (the less you have to lug from your house the better). The back bedroom is the "bunk room". The bottom bunk is a double and the top bunk is a twin. Even though it is the smallest room it is so cozy and easy to sleep in. Guests will also find an additional TV with cable in this room. The mud room off the back of the house is where our guests will find the laundry room as well as cabinet full of beach towels to enjoy. The entire house has hardwood floors and many other unique vintage details that add to the charm of this bungalow built in 1960.
Once you've spent any time inside "Little Bay Bungalow" you will think to yourself how can this amazing home get any better?! Well my friends, just step out in the backyard. We have two decks that overlook Little Bay & Rockport Beach...while on the deck you can even see the Rockport "plate" at the entrance of the beach. The backyard faces the East so sunrise over the bay is gorgeous and afternoons spent outside have lots of shade as well as a great breeze. We have an umbrella you can put on the lower deck to make morning coffee outside even more enjoyable. Additionally, we strung outdoor lights up on the patio to add extra ambience to your evening outside . The upper deck has quickly become our favorite place to converse with a glass of wine & whiskey after the sun goes down. Sand toys for the kids can be found in the storage container located on the driveway. The mosquitos in Rockport can be vicious...we have our house sprayed regularly to keep them away. Nobody wants to be attacked while enjoying backyard. Even with the decks guests still have plenty of space to hangout & play in the backyard.
"Little Bay Bungalow" is located in historic "old" Rockport. If you are coming to enjoy any of Rockports festivals our house is in THE prime location. No driving & parking necessary! Just walk across the street and you are there! We encourage guests to bring bikes if they have the ability---riding to downtown Rockport and to the harbor to watch the shrimp boats is so fun and relaxing for us!
Our house is perfect for anyone but especially those who are looking for *more* than just a place to sleep. We have been to many many vacation rentals in Rockport over the years with linens, towels & furniture that has not been updated for 30 years...and while that is fine for some people that is absolutely **NOT** the case at our house.
Little Bay Bungalow is our dream come true. We love this house and we hope you will come and be our guests and enjoy it as much we do!!
