Kaha Lani means “Heavenly Place,” and that certainly is true! Located on the famous Royal Coconut Coast of Kauai, Kaha Lani is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, Lydgate Park, and the Wailua Municipal Golf Course. This must be Paradise!

But Wait! There’s More!

If you’re like most people, “Reviews” are one of the most important things to check before renting a vacation home. We sure do! Reviews are earned. They’re a gauge of customer satisfaction—not just with the accommodations, but also with the customer service they received from the owners and their agents. We’ve only been the owners of Kaha Lani 211 since 2015. From Day 1, we’ve been working hard to earn great reviews, and we now have dozens! Read through them first. Then book your vacation with us. We're confident you'll agree that Kaha Lani 211 truly is a place in heaven!

The Kaha Lani is a small, quiet complex just 5 miles from the Lihue Airport, and less than 2.5 miles from Kapaa. Staying at the Kaha Lani will put you within easy driving distance of everything on our beautiful island.

The Kaha Lani is off the highway, surrounded by Lydgate Park. Make sure to take advantage of the amenities at Lydgate. There’s a protected swimming and snorkeling lagoon, a lifeguard on duty, and picnic areas. The Ke Ala Hele Makalae (“Path That Goes By the Coast”), which extends for miles in both directions, is the only thing separating the Kaha Lani from the beach in front of the complex. This beach is great for sunbathing or watching for whales, but the ocean is not good for swimming here. Follow the path a short distance to Lydgate if you would like to swim in the ocean.

Our condo is a second-floor end unit. The ocean side of the condo is almost all windows, with a sliding glass door to a large lanai. From there, take advantage of the beautiful views, ocean breezes, and comfortable furniture (You'll love our teak recliners!) as you relax with a cold beverage, or a scrumptious meal.

Inside, relax on the sofa. Use the free wireless to surf the Internet. Watch the new flat screen television, or pop in a DVD. Play a CD, or use the Ipod dock to listen to your own playlist. Or just kick back and read one of the paperback books in one of the drawers of the cabinet in the dining room.

The bedroom has its own bathroom with a massaging showerhead over the tub. The half bath is just steps from the living room. They both have Silestone counters and new fixtures. The bedroom contains a queen-sized bed with a memory foam topper and soft-as-silk bamboo sheets. The living room has a queen-sized sofa sleeper with a memory foam mattress.

While you have a great view of the ocean from the lanai, you are only steps away from the beach. In the winter, take the beach chairs down to watch the whales breaching, or just watch them from the lanai. And any time of the year, watch beautiful sunrises from either location!

The kitchen has cherry cabinets and granite countertops. We bought all new stainless steel appliances, and have stocked the kitchen with all the things we have found our guests might need. All the cooking utensils, dishes, and small appliances are already there. Brew your morning coffee with a drip coffee maker, or use the Keurig. We provide some starter K-cups, or bring your favorite flavors from home. Fix some of your meals in our fully stocked kitchen, and enjoy them inside in the dining area, or take them out on the lanai. There are also barbecues located nearby in the pool area that you can use.

We always hated checking multiple bags at the airport, just to make sure we had everything we thought we might need to have a fulfilling vacation. It's much more relaxing to just bring a carryon bag with a few shirts, shorts, and swimwear. The complex laundry room is nearby, and we provide the detergent, and enough quarters to pay for the first few loads.

We'll save you a ton of money on renting stuff. We have boogie boards, a collapsing ice chest, snorkel gear, tennis gear, beach chairs, beach towels, a beach umbrella, and much more. If you don't see everything you'll need on our amenities list, let us know. Maybe we'll add it before your arrival!

The Kaha Lani is right next to the Wailua Golf Course, recognized as one of the best municipal courses in the nation! There are also several other fine courses on the island. If you're a serious golfer, your own clubs probably help you play better. If you don't want to bring your own clubs, we have two sets available for you to use. They aren't state-of-the-art clubs, but they're not bad. With my 25+ handicap, I could probably score as well with a stick and a rock! That’s why I always say, “Good weather, good company, and occasionally, a chance to putt for par in paradise! What more can you ask for?” If you need someone to be your guide on one of the courses, give me a call. I’m on the island more than half the year. If I'm on island, I can join you for a round to point out the hidden hazards--because I’ve been in all of them! Just don’t expect any advice on your golf game. And if I offer advice, don’t take it!

This may be the vacation of a lifetime for you, or just another trip to paradise. In our many visits before achieving our goal of owning a piece of Kauai, we've learned how to squeeze the most out of a nickel. The best part of coming to Kauai is enjoying God's creation. You can spend a lot to enjoy it once, or we can give you some tips on stretching your budget so you can come back more often. Let us know which type of trip you want, and we'll help you achieve it! We’ve packed a ton of tips in our Condo Book. Make sure to check it out.

State of Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax Certificate of Registration is on display in the unit.

About Dan Roton

While visiting Kauai in 1999 to celebrate our 25th anniversary, we said, 'Wouldn't it be great if someday, when we retire, we could live half of the time in Hawaii, and the other half on the coast of California?' That set the plan into motion. After 20+ visits to the 4 largest islands, it became obvious that Kauai was our favorite. When I retired, after teaching high school business for 32 years, we started to move forward with the plan. Having already purchase a weekend home on the coast of our home state, we searched for, and purchased the right property on Kauai. When my wife retired in March of 2014, after a long and fulfilling career as a community college academic counselor, we made Kauai our home and are realizing our dream!

Why Dan Roton chose Līhuʻe

After living on Kauai for a year and a half, the time was right to exchange a rental we owned on the mainland for another condo on Kauai. We had a short, but important, "must have" list. Our new place had to feel like a home, not a hotel. It had to be someplace we would be comfortable living, if we decide to do that in the future. It had to have an ocean view. It had to have a shaded lanai for afternoon lounging. It had to have a pool. It had to have close access to a beach. It didn't have to have a golf course next door, but for me (my wife thinks golf is dumb), it was an incredible bonus!

What makes this condo unique

Nowhere on Kauai will you find a property with the benefits of the Kaha Lani. It's just 5 miles from the airport, but not all the way into Kapaa, which can be a traffic headache during rush hours. Kaha Lani has been described as a hidden gem, because it's a good distance from the highway, and surrounded by a great park and a golf course. However, it's only a few miles from the convenience of Lihue shopping (Costco, Safeway, Kmart, Walmart, Macy's, Ross, etc.), and the quaint shops of Kapaa.

Lovely condo, perfect location for setting off on day trips and a very responsive owner.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Dan's condo for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute of it. We were close to airport and the location of condo was off the main road and right on the ocean. The walking path in front of the condo was great for morning walks. Owner Dan is very friendly. We joined him for a game of golf while there. There is a beautiful golf course right next door and several others to chose from while on the Island. The condo is exactly as described and is well stocked with beach chairs and other items needed for a day at the beach. There are lots of restaurants close by but we enjoyed most of our meals in eating on the lanai. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Condo, Weather We Never Dreamed Of

  • 3 of 5

The property, the grounds, and location are fantastic. We would recommend the unit to anyone looking for an excellent choice while visiting Kauai. However, we were never able to experience a sunrise from the lovely lanai during our stay March 1-15. Locals and friends alike who choose to come year after year have told us the cloudy, windy and rainy days we experienced for two weeks was very unusual. It was not the weather we were expecting. Although walks on the beach and swimming in ocean or pool were few, we did enjoy touring the island and the 10 rounds of golf we played, mainly at the beautiful Puakea course.

Owner's Response: Wow! Our first 3-star review! That’s okay! Most people are not going to read our dozens of 5-star reviews, but they are sure to check out what caused someone to only give us 3 stars. Let’s review: The property, grounds, and location are fantastic. Lovely lanai. Excellent choice. Enjoyed touring the island and played 10 rounds of golf in 14 days. However: Unusually cloudy, windy, and rainy days. The weather has been unusually cloudy, but it isn’t unusual for it to be windy. The temperature range during your stay was 63 to 85, with an average of 73. The total rainfall for the first 13 days of your stay was less than ¼”. It did, however, pour on your last full day--4.39”! I wish we could control the weather, but we can’t. “Mother Nature” oversees that department. I have tried to talk to her, but she has a mind of her own! I’d fire her, but you can’t fire your “Mother!” Thanks for being great guests and leaving the condo in excellent condition. Also, thanks for taking the time to leave a review that fully explained your experience. I hope you can come back at a time when “Mother” is being more cooperative. PS: The temperature range in your home town during the same period was -9 to 39, with an average of 20. It didn’t rain, but I’m certain you wouldn’t have been playing golf!

Perfect Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

I almost want to give this condo a bad review so that it's sure to be available next time I'm in Kauai, but alas, I cannot lie. This condo is perfect for either a solo traveler like me or a couple. I felt safe there, which is important to me. (Although I sense that Kauai is safe in general.) The view from the lanai is lovely and you can certainly hear the ocean, although you do have to walk around another building in the morning to see the sunrise. However, I actually preferred to take my cup of coffee, walk down to the beach, sit on a rock, and get the full experience of the anyway. And the location on the island could not be more perfect (especially if you like sunrises.) The gas grill was a nice treat as a few times I got fresh fish and was able to throw it on the grill for a quick and easy dinner. And if you don't feel like driving to a beach, you can walk all of seven minutes to Lydgate Park beach, which was lovely too. Lastly, I could not say nicer things about Dan. He was amenable to my request for a late checkout (since no one was coming in that day) and quickly responded to every message I sent. I will certainly be returning and hopefully staying there again (maybe even in 2018!)

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! We try to make sure our guests have a relaxing vacation at a great value. We want them to come back over and over! It sounds like we accomplished that in your case, and we look forward to your return--hopefully in 2018. There's no need to give us a bad review to make sure the condo is available. Just plan far ahead!

Fantastic!! Beautiful views!! They thought of every detail!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful experience. Dan is extremely responsive and helpful. The property is perfect, beautiful view out the sliding glass door and right off the beach. Trade winds blowing thru the condo keep the property cool. The owners truly went all out and thought of every detail. They provide snorkel gear, body boards, beach towels, beach mats, every cooking item you could dream of. They even have a keurig and coffee brewer. Want to make pina coladas... no problem, they included a blender. Want to BBQ, yep they have stuff for that too. Pizza at home... no problem they thought if that too. Really makes it affordable to be able to have the cooking amenities of home.

Centrally located on the island about half way from the far south or far north ends of the isle.

They even have a ton of cable channels if you want a night in.

Best idea we found, use the huge cooler bag, put the reusable freezer packets from the fridge and all the drinks you want and take that baby with you everywhere. It kept us hydrated with cold drinks all day, even when we left it in the car for the day while at the beach. Again the owners really tried to think about everything you could possibly need.

Wonderful experience. A true gem of a find!!

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Kaha Lani such a lovely place

Clean wonderful relaxing place to use as an excellent springboard from Lihue to Kauai's charm and splendor. Close to everything you need and just about anything you might dream of. Nice pool for the kids and adults too. BBQ was clean and I made some killer burgers.

The Path (Ke Ala Hele Makalae) is ranked as one of the best things to do while on Kauai. The Path goes for miles in both directions from the resort. It's paved, which makes it perfect for biking, walking, running, or rollerblading. Take a stroll or rent a bike in Kapaa to explore the beauty of the Royal Coconut Coast. It's the perfect place to watch the sunrise.

Kaha Lani is near the Wailua River, the only navigable river in the state. Enjoy a boat tour to the famous Fern Grotto, or rent a kayak and leisurely paddle yourself. A personal note: If you rent a kayak for two, make your wife sit in front! That way you can make sure she is paddling!

One of the best luaus on the island is Smith Tropical Paradise Luau, held on the shores of the Wailua River. Or take a drive up to Wailua Falls, which was featured in the opening scenes of the television show, "Fantasy Island." Opaekaa Falls is also nearby, and amazing.

If you're a golfer, the Wailua course was voted by Golf Digest as one of Hawaii’s best 15 golf courses. Also rated #3 course in Hawaii by The Golf Channel. Don't let the view from the highway fool you. There are some beautiful holes along the ocean and the greens are in fantastic shape. Bring your own clubs, rent them at the course, or use one of the sets we provide. They're not new, but they serve the purpose.

If you just want to catch some rays on the sand and watch the surf, or build a sand castle, the beach in front of the resort is perfect. Because of the reef, it isn't a safe place to swim. Instead, walk next door to Lydgate Park. There's a lifeguard on duty, sheltered swimming and snorkeling areas, and picnic areas.

There are too many fantastic and beautiful things to do and see on our piece of paradise to mention here. Let me know what activities you're interested in. I'll do my best to help make your vacation one you'll never forget!
