Farmhouse up on a ridge with a three state view. 33 acres surround you with nature and wildlife. 5 bedrooms 4 with private bath. Sleeps 10. Three upstairs, master on the main and suite bedroom in the basement. Big porches with rocking chairs and wicker furniture. Game room for kids and exercise room and a large screen TV in the basement. Rooms furnished with elegant antiques and house was built in keeping with local customs. Look for the white marble from Jasper Georgia that is also on the Mall in DC and the pink marble like the Tate House in special touches throughout the house. The Cherokee medicine wheel in the patio outside. The kitchen has black granite counter tops and an island where you can sit and watch the preparation or help too. The front parlor has a gas fireplace and lots of cozy furniture. Play my great grandmothers pump organ. Everyone has a place at the table on the large farmhouse table made out of extinct American wormy Chestnut wood. Or maybe a more romantic dinner in the tea room.

About Sandra Malecki
I am a local. My family has lived here for over 200 years. I have been a physical therapist for over 30 years now and still think it is the best job in the world. I went to UGA so my blood is red. But my ovaries must have been gold because I have two sons who are Yellow Jackets. Consider this season of my life my legacy years, and I want to find ways to serve my community so I can pay forward all the many blessings I have had in my life. People who visit my house may find me in the little bungalow at the bottom of the mountain. This is the house i grew up in and I am remodeling. It has lots of sweet memories and real spring water.
Sandra Malecki purchased this Farmhouse in 1875
Why Sandra Malecki chose Blue Ridge
I live on my Dad's part of the family farm and built a farmhouse in 2007 that showcases much of my heritage and community. When I grew up here, we thought our community was just like Mayberry that Andy Griffith made famous. But like most dumb teens we were eager to go our own path. I have lived in Texas and Atlanta and Suffolk UK. But there is no place like home.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
I hope you will find unique touches all through my house. The patio has a Cherokee medicine wheel. The front steps are made from Georgia Marble that is the same marble they make the Arlington cemetary markers. You will find that Cherokee white marble from Jasper which is the same that they use on the Mall in Washington DC and the Lincoln memorial on the kitchen island and the fireplace. My great grandmothers pump organ has been restored. The farm table is made out of wormy American chestnut a species that is extinct but was the main hardwood of our Southern Forests 150 years Sit in the front porch swing and look take a minute to soak in the long range views. The big Mountain is Kimsey Mountain and the bright lights at night are the Ducktown interchange where all the Ocoee rafting companies start. If you really want to expand your knowledge about Georgia History take a minute to explore the Fannin Room.

Nice Sized House in the Woods
We thoroughly enjoyed the space (enough bedrooms for all of us), fireplace, full kitchen, dining table table big enough to all eat together, the pool table/ping pong table in the lower level, and the location close to Blue Ridge. My family likes to watch football games over the long Thanksgiving weekend; hence minimal access to football games and very slow streaming when we could get a game were a big drawback, as was the internet speed.
So glad you enjoyed the house. Being in a rural area cable is not available and our internet connection options are limited to DSL. I called the phone company and confirmed that I do have the highest speed available. We have several TVs with classic OTA so you should be able to get most major networks. But I will continue to look into options to improve this.
Just an OK getaway
15 minutes to downtown Blue Ridge.
Large enough to hold 10 people.
Nice wrap around porch.
Water pressure in master BR was very poor.
Quite a bit of of cluttered areas as the owners actually live here.
No view of mountains except small opening through the trees on 1 side of house.
Refrigerator wasn't working properly in kitchen, which was an inconvenience. Asked for small discount, but it didn't happen.
Smoke detector disrupted our 2nd night's sleep beeping in the night and we had to get up to disarm. Batteries need to be changed regularly.
No fire pit available.
No ESPN on TV unless you use your own credit card to subscribe to Sling TV for streaming.
Overall, an ok stay. It is very private and they allowed pets, which was a big plus.
15 mins to Blue Ridge where there are lots of restaurants and shopping. 20 mins to Ocoee whitewater. Less than 10 mins to ziplines and horseback riding. And fishing opportunites are around every curve here.. But if you want real deep woods adventures of hunting and fishing the Cohuttas is the largest wilderness and it is about 5 miles from the house.
