About Tracy Hammons
We were married in July of 2009 in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. We love to travel, from the beaches of Mexico to the tall pines of Broken Bow, OK. We currently reside in North East Texas it the town where Tracy grew up. Tracy graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Ashley graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and Estrella Mountain Community College with a Associates in Business Marketing.
Why Tracy Hammons chose Broken Bow
We have always loved traveling to Broken Bow for relaxing vacations and pray that you enjoy it as much as we do!
What makes this Cabin unique
Tucked into the tall pines of the Ouachita Mountains in McCurtain County this cabin is a great get-a-way to enjoy the sites of nature in this beautiful wooded setting.
Although the cabin was big enough for our group and the price was excellent, it wasn’t very clean. The floors left black on the bottoms of our feet, the walls could use a paint job as they look dirty and stained, and the decor looked like it was thrown together from a thrift store. The full beds creaked, waking up the entire cabin and our door knob was broken so we couldn’t properly shut our door. The lamp by our bed was cheap, so it was difficult to turn on and off. The price was cheaper than the rest of the cabins in the area, so I guess we got what we paid for.
Nice cabin with no frills
The cabin is over all in good shape but just needs basic TLC and maintenance. There were some holes in the walls, outlets that didn't work, and loose boards on the back porch. Most of the appliances were new but the kitchen didn't have hot pads or other basics. Yes there is a bar very close that plays music till 2am but that is clearly not the cabin owners fault. I really liked the area there was lots to do.
Needs updating, new saloon next door
This home was neat and clean, but low end and probably hasn’t been updated since the 1980s. A saloon has been built about 100 yards away - we could hear music playing there until 2 am on Thursday and Friday night. The lighting is very poor and some bulbs were burned out and/or missing. No hotpads or decent knives in the kitchen.
There were plenty of towels, 10 beds (2 full size), sleeps 12 easily, heat and a/c worked great. Appliances were all nice and new (washer, dryer, fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave).
A water line was broken outside, so water had to be shut off for a bit when the plumber came.
Less than 100 feet from bar that plays loud music until 2 am don’t book
Was kept awake by loud music from bar right in front of cabin. No way to get away from it. Don’t stay. Also mold on bathroom wall and floors do filthy if you walk barefoot on floors for 10 minutes your feet are black. Owner not willing to accept that it was that bad.
Great place for families with kids!
I took my family with 3 kids, and friends with 2 kids joined us. The sleeping situation was great with the kids in the room with all of the bunk beds and the adults in the rooms with the queen beds. The kids also had plenty of room to run around outside. The cabin isn't flashy, but was perfect for every one of our needs.
The only reason for 4 stars was that this property is located right behind the new Hochatown Saloon. Which is so new that, as of the time of writing, it doesn't show up on the Google Maps app. The back patio of the Saloon is separated from the cabin by a few hundred feet, a creek and a few trees, but it wasn't enough to stop the music and louder conversations at night. If you are a light sleeper and wanted to go to bed before midnight on Friday/Saturday nights, this could be an issue. Bringing a white noise generator, or using your phone for the same, would do the trick.
All that being said, I would come back and recommend it to others.
IT WAS A GOOD PLACE TO SET BACK AND RELAX
We enjoyed the stay, the house was clean, the beds where great sleeping. it would have nice to have chairs for setting on the deck. There was no coffee ,sugar, salt, pepper and other spices that could have make the cooking a little better. no overhead light in the living room. the floor lamp you had to screw the light bulb to turn it off & on.
Thank you for letting us know about your issues. We will make sure the cabin is restocked with those essential items. Sometimes they walk off and we don't catch it! I will also make sure to get some chairs out on the patio!
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay!
