Great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

Very functional for a group. Sleeping arrangements were nice for separating boys and girls into two cabins. Plenty of room in the living area to spread out, play games, and eat.

Very disappointing

  • 1 of 5

The first 24 hours we had no hot water. After telling the owner, a plumber showed up hours later to install a new water heater. A few hours before he got there the sewer backed up into the showers, it was beyond disgusting! We couldn't use the bathrooms at all for 3 hours. After working on the sewer which was draining into a small creek beside the cabin and finishing with the water heater installation it was less than 15 hours before check out time an that was night time. So out of a 48 hour stay it was mostly a miserable time. I still don't know how they can say it sleeps 28 people unless 9 people sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor. The owner did refund us a VERY SMALL amount of our rental fee for our troubles. I definitely would not recommend this cabin unless a lot of work is done.

Owner's Response: This cabin sleeps 20, not 28. It says it sleeps 20 in the property description, on all ads, and advertisments. There are 6 bunk beds holding 2 people each and 4 queens holding 2 people each, for a total of 20 people. The issues that happend during your stay were beyond our control. We do regualar mantanaince on all our cabins and appologized for the issues that happend during your stay. There were guests that checkout the same day that you checked in and they had no issues (that they told us). The cleaning company also had no issues with hot water or plumbing while cleaning the cabin for your stay. As soon as we were made aware of the issues we sent a plumber out. And as you said in your review, there is a new water heater and the plumbing lines were replaced, so these issues shouldn't repeat themselves, as everything that was causing the issues have been replaced.

Hidden but right off the Hwy. I thought that would be an issue but it wasn't. No traffic

We loved it, first time to Broken Bow area and couldn't of picked a better place to stay. Easy access to any and everything this small town had to offer. If you are planning 2-3 day stay you will be disappointed you need at least 4 days minimum we needed 5-6 days to enjoy all it has to offer. Great place for family gatherings and we are already planning next years trip.

Bare bones, but clean and spacious

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time while we stayed in Hochatown.

* This property is suited for large groups. We had a family reunion with almost 20 people attending. The building with the living area/kitchen was perfect for our group. It had plenty of space, and there were lots of tables and chairs to set up for food and games. There is one large couch, and two smaller love seats, which worked for us.

*The bathrooms were definitely not fancy, but when you have a large group, being able to do multiple showers at once is a huge bonus. The water was always hot.

*Our kids had a great time playing outdoors. There is a charcoal grill outside and also a fire pit. We took advantage of both.

*The price was unbeatable for the area.

*The property was clean and air conditioned.

*There are a few things in the house that are in disrepair. These are things that should be addressed immediately, because they are safety hazards. There are several spots where the tile has broken and chunks are missing. Small children (and adults!) can easily trip or get cut on the cracks. We covered these with rugs to avoid injury. In the kitchen there is a cupboard door directly above the sink hanging on only one hinge. It could fall and hit somebody in the head.

*Be aware that the bunk beds do not have rails on the top. While this is not a problem for many older children, there is absolutely no way younger children can sleep up there. We ended up having to double up on the bottom bunks with our smaller kiddos.

*The website states that wifi is offered. There is no wifi password offered at the property. We had to call the owner for the password, which they did give to us. It seems silly not to post it at the house, though.

*There was nowhere to throw away all our trash. There was a rather large trash bin on the front porch, but when you have twenty people there for three days, you need several trash cans. We ended up having to make a run to a dumpster in town in order to manage all the trash.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfortable enough, the state park was excellent, and for the most part, we got what we expected out of the cabin. Three stars because of the safety hazards. We would recommend this place to large groups looking for a value, assuming the tiles and cupboard get fixed.

Triple oak cabin review

  • 4 of 5

The triple oak cabin was convenient and pretty clean. The tile floor was broken in several places and could have used some repairs. The kitchens and bathrooms were sufficiently stocked with needed items. All in all, I would reccomend these cabins.
