Playa Lagarto Lodge is a unique remote jungle/beach house in Boca del Drago, on the windward side of the main island, Isla Colon. It is located at the end of a mile-long secluded beach on a small bay, not far from the famous Bird Island.
Playa Lagarto is a nature lover's dream! It is home to howlers and white face monkeys, sloths, butterflies, poison dart frogs, bats, and boas.
Birders can see bell birds, oropendulas, hummingbirds, hawks, parakeets, and manakins.
If you are looking for a place to de-stress, this is it! Activities include swimming, snorkeling (seasonal), kayaking, jungle hiking, horseback riding, surfing, turtle watching, and fishing.
The house sleeps a maximum of 8, with 3 bedrooms, 4 double beds, each with its own netting and fan. We run on solar power, and we collect rainwater. There is limited local cell service, but there is wifi internet. However there is no television, no dishwasher, and no microwave oven.
Playa Lagarto Lodge is not for everyone! It is VERY REMOTE, about 40 minutes by road to Bocas town, but only 10 minutes from Yarisnori Restaurant, home of the best seafood on the island!
Bring, your binoculars, sunglasses, headlamp, Tivas, sunscreen, bug repellent, camera, and don't forget your swimsuit!
For a reservation, 50% down is required. Balance is due upon arrival.
We will pick you up and drop you off in Bocas town. Other trips can be arranged. The nearest public transportation is at Drago Beach, where you can find taxis and buses to Bocas town.
The owners live in a small house 200 feet behind the main house, and up the hill. They have dogs and a cat.
