Great location old home
Location was good. There was a grocery store walking distance where we had coffee each day. Fast access downtown to everything we wanted to see. House was old. Some of the boards in the floor needed replaced as they weren't secured anymore. Toilet ran for hours. Place was nearly impossible to find at night. It was ok, but I'm sure you could do better.
Yes. HISTORIC brownstone in HISTORIC area. HISTORIC means old (and charming) Will check on toilet. Never notified by guest.
Comfortable & perfectly located!
This nicely sized apartment is located in a historic Brownstone very close to quaint shops, bars, coffee shops, and many other local small businesses. Check out Lucky's Market! Fresh produce, meats, housemade deli and other products-great! Jeff was extremely responsive and also helpful in suggesting different places to visit. This apt. is a good mix of modern decor and historic charm, and all at what I believe to be a very reasonable rate!! The microwave oven was fried when we arrived quite late on Friday night. I sent a text to the owner to let him know. He responded shortly, then made a trip to Wal mart to purchase, then deliver the new microwave to the front, private porch in the middle of the night! Microwave was waiting there in the morning. Over and above service. Thanks Jeff!
very cool location, apartment is problematic
I love the style of this apartment, but it is not for the faint of heart. Great neighborhood -- transitional -- lots of young people -- some very cool restaurants, cafes and bars. The apartment is in an older building which is in desperate need of repair -- holes on floorboards on the porch, doors and windows that don't quite shut. Jeff was very helpful on the phone and I called him a lot. There is no parking attached to the building, you have to park on the street, and that can be a challenge. In his answers to comments made by other guests, Jeff talks about a cleaning crew and bleached floors; but he is definitely overpaying them. The rugs had not been vacuumed or swept -- I took the bathroom rug outside to shake it out and it produced a huge cloud of dust. The stove did not work. We left early, because my mother was ill; so I did not have the opportunity to allow Jeff to address these issues, but given the comments by past guests, I was surprised they were not already addressed.
Yes this guest did call me many times during her stay regarding an elderly mother that was ill. I offered her advice on hospitals, etc, and at no time did she ever mention any sort of problem of any kind! I even asked at the end of every conversation if she needed anything. She said " No " I would have been happy to send the cleaning person back if she needed to go over anything. The windows do shut but I think these women, being older, couldn't shut them. I would have even driven out to shut the windows for them if they were having a problem but again, I wasn't told.
They couldn't work the lock box either and had difficulty opening the door using a standard key. I will have the small hole in the corner of the front porch floor repaired. Thank you for alerting me to that. As for the stove, it was not plugged in.
This guest was denied a refund when her mother took ill and I think this may have colored her review a bit.
Good location, good space
We had a blast. Nice neighborhood with restaurants and the lake within walking distance Downtown is only a short drive along the lake, less than 10 minutes. We took a Lyft to the Indians game. $12. Very convenient.
Cute Little Brownstone...
The place was a cute little brownstone but certainly was in need of some repair. The windows were all bad enough that we didn't dare open them to get a breeze through the house. There is a window air conditioner in the bedrooms that cooled the house sufficiently though. It is listed as a two bedroom when in reality it is a 1 bedroom with a pull out couch in the den. Bed and pull out were both comfortable but some window coverings need to be added in the den as it is quite exposed to the living area for those sleeping in there. The bathroom definitely is in need of some updating. Only one of us was willing to shower as it just felt "dirty".
Jeff was very kind and accommodating and checked in with us as needed.
Some updates would make this a GREAT place. Location was perfect, close to dining and grocery stores. Tick Tock Tavern just down the street had fabulous food and offered a $3 breakfast every morning. El Jalapeño just a few blocks away had great Mexican food.
All in all, a good trip and was comfortable enough for a long weekend. I don't know that I would stay for an entire week though.
Thanks so much for your input. It's always a good thing when guests make suggestions, however, I would like to address a few of your points...
Firstly, if you didn't try to open the windows, why did you assume they didn't work? They are fully operational. Many of my guests elect to open everything up if they don't care for air conditioning and the apartment is quite airy and breezy.
Secondly, There is a big queen size in the master and yes a sofa bed (which you yourself described as "Comfortable") in the 2nd bedroom off of the living room. It is equipped with a desk, night stands, lamps, chest etc. This room has a set of beautiful French doors separating it from the other rooms, a large window, and a closet. These 3 things alone constitute another seperate bedroom. Many guests use it as a bedroom and many use it as a den. Just depending on the needs of each guest.
Also the bathroom, as well as the rest of the apartment, was cleaned by a professional. I introduced you to her when I was there. Why didn't you mention it at that time? Although it looked clean to me, I would have happily asked her to re- clean the shower if it "felt" dirty to you. I assure you it wasn't dirty. All of my bathrooms are cleaned with bleach.
All this aside, I'm glad you had a good comfortable trip and would welcome you again. Although many of my guests in this unit are long stay tenants (the identical unit upstairs has had guests there for 5 months!) I do have larger units with 2 Queen size beds and could definitely accommodate your 4 person party.
Thanks again and safe travels! Jeff
Great place! Attentive host.
