We both are from New York and have lived here in Fairview since 2000. Loved the lifestyle and the amount of activities that can be enjoyed by all ages in and around the Asheville area.

PHYLLIS AND MICHAEL SCHARF purchased this townhome in 2000

we love this locations because of the quiet and peaceful setting we have. There are no streetlight here so we can see the beautiful stars at night and in the summer watch the lighting bugs and listen to the crickets!

What makes this townhome unique

We choose this property because it is wooded and is near 1830 acres of conservation easements protecting wildlife along federally scenic byway between Asheville & Chimney Rock State Park.

This is a terrific choice !!

First , our hosts were truly thoughtful and easy to interact with. It ‘s obvious that the accommodations reflect their good taste, and attention to detail. The result is a very comfortable space with plenty of room and up to date amenities. In addition, all the little things that make for an easy routine were in place and they thoughtfully provided basic provisions in the fridge and cabinets to get us started without necessity to run around as we arrived in town. The property is beautiful with well cared for lawns and plantings and offers views that reflected the beauty of the area.

I have to add that they went above and beyond by offering help when one of our party had a medical problem. They helped with medicine that they fortunately had on hand and guided us to local resources that were just what was needed and saved us a lot of guess work and running around that would have consumed much more of our precious time in the area. You couldn’t find better hosts. And with all that they were fully respectful of our privacy. If we were to relocate in the Asheville area we certainly would be grateful to have Phyllis and Michael as friends. This gets the highest of recommendations.

OH-SO comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for three nights and wish we hadn't scheduled so much during the days so we could have relaxed at the home more! The home was perfect for us with very comfortable accommodations, lovely decorating and the perfect serene setting. Every detail was looked after- perfectly stocked kitchen, extra towels and helpful information regarding the area. We were able to enjoy coffee outside in the morning and dessert outside in the evening. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and how thoughtful you were to check in on us!

Everything you’d want in a vacation home & Great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this remarkably clean home. We were greated by Phyllis & a fresh baked loaf of bread. She made sure we knew where everything was located and made us feel at home. This is a very relaxing location & private with the convenience of the owners right next door if you need them but they were not obtrusive. We woke to beautifully cool mornings and bird songs. The home has easy access to all that Asheville offers but allows you to get away and enjoy nature. I would definitely stay here again. One of the best VRBO’s I’ve stayed at.

We visit the Asheville area several times a year and always use Home Away, VRBO and AirBNB when we visit Asheville. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this particular property.

Phyllis and Michael made us feel right at home. They even provided a few grocery items (wonderful bread, breakfast items along with coffee and tea) so we did not have to run to the store as soon as we arrived.

A lot a lot thought was put into their Home Away townhouse and we truly appreciated everything they did to make our stay perfect! Finding this hidden gem was easy with our iPhone app as well as their great directions they provided.

The decor in the townhouse is absolutely lovely and well appointed. The place is immaculate. There was a grill, fire pit, and a patio table with chairs for our use if we so desired. All was located in a private area just for us! Not much more you can do to make a stay perfect!

It is a 25 minute drive to the AVL airport from the townhouse on the back roads which we always enjoy taking whenever possible. It's also a short drive to Asheville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain and Lake Lure. These are our favorite areas to visit.

We do have just two small suggestions for Phyllis and Michael. If you could have one comfy chair in the living room besides the sofa that would be outstanding. The other 2 chairs that are in the room are very well appointed, but at the end of a busy day out and about, they are not chairs that you can unwind on. The sofa was very, very comfortable, but if you have a husband like mine, he likes to stretch out which did not leave any room for me to relax. LOL! To solve this problem, I brought in one of the plastic Adirondack chairs from outside and that did the trick for me. Our other suggestion is to put something in between the mattress and the box springs in both bedrooms so the beds don't squeak when getting up and down or turning over. Otherwise, the beds are super firm but comfortable.

We definitely plan on booking a stay at this great townhouse again if it is available when we return for our next visit.

Thank you again Phyllis and Michael for your great southern hospitality!! It was truly a pleasure to meet you both.

Best regards,

Barbara and Pete Seyez

Fantastic Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5

I can’t say enough great things about our recent stay in Fairview. From the time I booked to the day we left, Phyllis was incredibly accommodating, friendly and such a pleasure to with. The townhouse is one of the best I’ve ever rented. Everything we needed was at our finger tips. The pictures don’t do it justice. And yes, we did see a bear while there.

The townhouse was clean and well maintained. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away and enjoy the mountains, yet still be close to restaurants and attractions.
