About Andrea Hufstader
Hi! We are Andrea and Bill from New York city. It has been my dream to return to New Orleans since I lived here in my 20's. My husband and I have purchased this beautiful house intending to relocate when retired. In the meantime we would love to share our home with you for your visit to this fabulous city.
Andrea Hufstader purchased this House in 2015
Why Andrea Hufstader chose Mid-City
Mid -City is such a great neighborhood. Coming from NYC we like our conveniences. Here we are in walking distance to many excellent restaurants, coffee shops, bars, shopping and transportation. On your walk you will be delighted by the architecture and lush gardens that make this city so attractive.
What makes this House unique
The Canal streetcar is a short three block walk away and a 15 minute trip to the French Quarter. The other direction is City Park and Art Museum. You can also connect to the St Charles line and head uptown for a day Audubon Park or shopping on Magazine street. We now have Blue Bike locations nearby, a bike sharing program throughout the city.

Fabulous we had a great time.
We enjoyed our stay the property was everything the owners promised. The property was charming, clean, tastefully decorated and well maintained. We chose to take the trolley everywhere and park our vehicle for our stay. The trolley was only a few blocks away which was within walking distance and allowed us access to all areas of the city. There are a few resturants/bars close by and along your walk to the trolley. Be sure to be prepare for a limited space to park your vehicle. Thank you for allowing us a stay at your home and we would stay there again.
Perfect location! A real gem!
My 25 year-old daughter and I were in NOLA for a conference. This house was absolutely perfect for us. We each had our own space to sleep, and the neighborhood is quiet and charming. The house is tastefully renovated and decorated, and sparkling clean. You really do not need a rental car. Honestly, it would be more of a hassle. Take a Lyft or Uber in from the airport!
The location is a very short walk to the trolleys that take you either into the French Quarter or over to City Park and the Art Museum. Cost - $1.25 for the day - but they need exact change so we’d highly recommend that you put the “RTA Go Mobile” app on your phone. It allows you to buy your trolley, bus and ferry passes and scan them as you enter the cars. We also found Lyft to be reasonable (around $8 to get into the French Quarter) if you have a tight schedule or reservations.
Yelp and Waitr apps are good to have as well, as you can either order food from nearly anywhere to be delivered, make your reservations or put yourself on a waitlist for restaurants. The Ruby Slipper is about a 15 minute walk but has amazing breakfasts and awesome service. Katie’s is also excellent and even a shorter distance. These are both casual - we weren’t interested in formal meals.
Lastly, but most important, the owners were incredibly helpful and very easy to reach. Andrea sent out emails with suggestions for things to do and places to eat. She even checked to be sure we had arrived and found everything we needed.
We will absolutely recommend this house to our friends and would rent it again in a heartbeat.
Excellent introduction to NOLA - Thanks, Andrea!
Beautiful and Cozy Shotgun!
We visited New Orleans for the first time and stayed in this beautiful and cozy home! While we were only in the home during the night, it was about 2 blocks from Finn McCool's Irish Pub which we frequented to celebrate my birthday! New Orleans is beautiful and this home is in the perfect spot! We drove everywhere and parking downtown was a bit expensive, but the sights and sounds of NOLA are definitely worth the price! This will be our spot next time we visit! Thank you, Andrea!
Perfect Get Away for a Girls Weekend.
The house is in a great location to go and do things in the city. The house had everything you would need!. We enjoyed breakfast there in the mornings with a full kitchen. We were able to do some laundry while were there. The back patio is so awesome. There is a vine covered pergola. The house is a beautiful row home with arches in the hall and high ceilings.. The bathroom shower has great water pressure and it's an interesting stone design. The bed/couch were very firm. The owner was very responsive and helpful. The house has wifi and smart TV, Hulu , Netflix ect. On our visit we used various modes of transportation to see the sights. We used
the trolley, uber and we did the hop on hop off bus once in the city with the 3 day pass to get the most out of our trip. The hop on hop off bus runs until 5 PM.It has at least 30 stops throughout the city and someone to explain the different areas in the city.. It also included a free guided walking tour of the Garden District. We met at magazine st and participated in the Garden District walking tour. We did a swamp tour on a airboat through Le feits. it was great. Definitely would visit again and stay at this home. Home was comfortable and easy to navigate to see the Big Easy. Definitely recommend a stay here!
Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at the funky double. The house was beautiful and perfectly decorated. It is close to transportation and we got around easily. We definitely recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.
Perfect Mid-City Apartment!
So nice, we've stayed twice! My husband and I travel to Nola frequently to see family and this is our second stay at Funky Double. Plenty of space and comfortable, perfect for our needs. We don't rent a car as my sister lives two blocks over and schlepps us all around. There's plenty to do within walking distance, and the street car is right there to take you to the Quarter.
The kitchen has everything you'd need and is stocked with all kinds of munchies and snacks, coffee, a water filter pitcher (new orleans tap water is nasty), and is quite spacious!
The bathroom shower is a really cool design and on hand are all those little things you may have forgotten to pack.
Bed is firm and the bedroom was very quiet. My husband slept on the couch and said he was very comfortable there
Don't forget to go out back! A lovely yard awaits! The washer and dryer on premises is also great, it's so nice to return home with clean clothes.
We hope to stay again soon.
Thank you so much for staying and the beautiful review Jessica.
I'm glad you enjoy our house as we do.
Here's to next visit!
