Kenai River - Chinook - Luxury 2 Bedroom Apartment

Bedrooms 2
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

FISH ON! This luxuriously spacious 2 BR retreat is literally 20 steps to river's edge where fishing is super when the salmon are running. Wrap around windows and private deck let you watch 'the nature channel' anytime you want. A freestanding fireplace adds a warm homey ambiance for any chilly nights.

The apartment is comfortably and tastefully decorated and is situated right on the banks of the Kenai River, home to the largest King Salmon in the world. Newly remodeled with new flooring, window covers, paint, locally cut rough cut spruce trim, furniture, bathroom, bedroom and updated lighting throughout. A brand new free standing gas fireplace really makes it comfy and cozy.

The sleeping arrangements have been designed for maximum flexibility. The master bedroom has a King sized bed and a XL twin bed. The second bedroom as 2 XL Twins or it can be configured to for another King sized bed.

The brand new hideaway sofa has room for two more adults for a total of 6 people. There's a huge walk-in closet which will accommodate plenty of hanging clothes.

The Kitchen is clean. spacious with excellent appliances, granite countertops and huge island with bar stools. It is well appointed with all needed dishes, appliances and cooking utensils.

Location is very convenient as it's only a couple of miles to Fred Meyer (the largest grocery and department store on the Kenai Peninsula.) So when you hear the river, and see a moose wondering by your window, you'll feel like you're out in the country, but in fact, you're minutes away from services, restaurants and conveniences.

Newly paved road with bike path is real treat if you want to walk, jog or ride. It's 2.5 beautiful miles to the end of the road!

As you can see from the pictures, it is beautiful any time of the year but in case you're looking at booking during the summer fishing season there are other excellent amenities available to you including:

* Private bank to fish from, you don't have to do combat fishing at the public docks and fishing areas.

* Aluminum Staircase for easy access to the river bed to flip for reds (Sockeye Salmon)

* Huge aluminum cleaning table with water and chute to dispose of carcasses back into river

* Charcoal grill

* Fire pit for outdoor marshmallow fun

Top of the line Laundry facilities available within the apartment.

Guest have access to river edge fishing, industrial fish cleaning table, freezer space, charcoal grill, and outdoor fire pit. Although garage is off limits for short term summer renters, guests who rent for 7 days or longer will have to get to laundry facilities located in the garage utility room. As this is a common area, we would appreciate your cooperation in respecting the private property of owners and others which may be accessible there.

Typically we shall be present to give you keys and conduct a walk through orientation. We do not live on the premises, but very close and are available for any questions, recommendations on restaurant, activities, and even fishing tips.

Large one acre lots on the river and wooded acres across the road create a sense of being out in nature. However you're still extremely close to all the services and conveniences of Soldotna which is 2.5 miles down the road. We also love the new paved road with bicycle lane excellent for walks, bikes, jogs and rollerblading.

There is only one highway (Sterling Hwy) onto the Kenai Peninsula which goes through Soldotna.

When you arrive to town you'll see a Fred Meyer store. (The largest all inclusive shopping store on the Peninsula).

After the first traffic light at Fred Meyer, take the first left which is East Redoubt. (E. Redoubt turns into Keystone)

Drive 2.5 miles and Keystone Retreat is on the Right - EASY!

Drive to Soldotna until you get to Sterling Hwy and take a left towards Fred Meyer.

Turn right on East Redoubt.

Drive 2.5 miles and Keystone Residence is on the Right - EASY!

The owner or representative lives close by in case you have any questions or a need arises. This single bedroom self-contained apartment is attached to 2 other residences with possible renters. Our property representatives are wonderful friends who are very kind. If you bump into them, they'd think nothing of lending you a hand with netting your salmon, showing you how to fillet, or giving you pointers on places to explore as would the owner. All this to say, everyone who rents is asked to be conscientious and respectable of others property, privacy and noise level.

Beautiful view, nice place, fun at the river's edge

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this property for 3 nights with our family of 7. The river was the main attraction for us, we spent a lot of time down there fishing. The boardwalk is a blast to fish from, and the fillet table was wonderful to take care of the fish right away. We couldn't get enough time down there, so we were happy it didn't get dark until midnight. There were others on the property, and our new friend Jim was so kind to help our kids with their technique and even loaned them his rod on occasion. The owner was on site, he was very helpful as well. Because we had one more person than there were beds for, he bought an air mattress so my son had a place to sleep. He also let us keep our luggage in his garage for a few hours after we checked out since we had a guide taking us fishing for kings on the Kenai that day. The apartment is on the top floor, so the view of the river is beautiful. There were plenty of towels and extra blankets, kitchen was well stocked, laundry facilities were nice to have. We would stay here again, but we would make sure to book enough in advance to get more than 3 days!

Jerry's house on the Kenai

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Jerry's house (Joe is just the property manager) for nine days. Jerry just bought the house in October. The house is very comfortable and the location is great. It is right on the river and close to town and Fred Meyer's. It has two bedrooms with two complete baths and four separate beds for sleeping. There is also a sofa bed in the living room if needed. There is a washer/dryer and lots of cookware/utensils and service ware. There are two other units that were used by one other twosome and another young couple who live there with there three small children. This was not a problem. The fishing wasn't great because the fish weren't in yet but we did catch some after much work. There is room for three fisherman using the platform (maybe four if you plunk) and a stairwell nearby for another. Jerry was always around (he is staying there in a trailer) and working on the place. The only negative: we would liked to have had the option to stay there again next year, but Joe rented it out to someone else without giving us an opportunity first. That is not cool and I'm sure Jerry will discuss that with Joe for future renters.

Relaxing and spacious

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Chinook. Everything was clean and very spacious. There were two couples and we were traveling over the Kenai Peninsula. Soldotna was a very central location. Easy to Homer and Seward. Kyle and Abbi were great.

Excellent location, luxurious accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic accommodation right on the river. Great place to simply enjoy nature or catch salmon during the runs. Great new fishing doc and large cleaning table makes processing easy!

Although this property recently changed ownership it's still wonderful as ever. The onsite folks are incredibly helpful.

Very conveniently located down the street from Fred Meyer and services.
