We have a comfortable and private daylight basement with a private entrance. There is a remote controlled gas fireplace, Newly remodeled full bathroom, separate bedroom, and large living room with kitchenette. We have easy parking and convenient walking access to light rail, bus, grocery stores and neighborhood dining, pubs, and coffee options. There is a back yard deck with fire place for the summer season. Beautiful Mr. Tabor park is only a 15 minute walk away.

There is a sofa bed couch in the living room (should you need an additional bed). With the use there is an additional charge for bedding and occupancy. Please see the rates section.

The base price is for two people sharing the bedroom. See the pictures.

There are two options for access, if traveler is not able to climb stairs there is an option to access through the garage. The other and primary is via the private entrance on the side of house.

About Joel and Betsy Salter

The photo above was taken at Beacon Rock state park. One of the reasons we live in the Portland, OR is to have easy access to the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, the Willamette and Columbia Rivers and it's only a 2 hour drive to the Oregon coast - well worth a day trip if your time is limited!

Why Joel and Betsy Salter chose Portland

When I first moved to Portland I stopped at the Horse Brass pub. I liked it so much that I looked for a house in the neighborhood. The tuck under two car garage was a bonus.

Also, very convenient to downtown or for heading up the Columbia Gorge for a day hike. Or if you're flying in the MAX train will deliver you to the 60th street station and it is an easy walk or short taxi ride to the house.

There are two grocery stores near by for all your food needs,

There are a couple of coffee shops and many restaurants within walking distance.

If you like to bike there are dedicated bike routes to downtown and anywhere else you would like to go. I bike commute to work, and that was another reason for buying the house in this neighborhood.

What makes this apartment unique

Spacious and convenient to downtown, yet far enough away to be quiet.

Well built and warm in the winter cool in the summer.

Easy access to public transportation. Very convenient to drive to and from.

Perfect Vacation

The apartment met all our needs & is located in a safe & cute neighborhood. The furnishings are older but functional & newer mattress quite comfy. We loved having the spaciousness of a separate bedroom /living area vs a hotel room. Being located in the basement you will hear some noise from walking above during normal waking hours but we were mainly on the go. The good thing, being downstairs in July it was always cool & they also run their central AC as needed. Joel & Betsy were always available by text & responsive to any questions or needs. Thanks for hosting us.

The location was within minutes of busline and 10 minute-walk to light metro. Mount Tabor is a beautiful park and a definite must-see if staying in this neighborhood!

Welcoming

Just got home and back on line. Had a great stay at this property. Nice neighborhood, close to Tabor Park, (a must place to visit) were I spent a relaxing day. Good location for buses and the Max. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, even let me leave my suitcases in his garage for a couple of days. Bed was extremely comfortable and enjoyed all the space. Would recommend to friends visiting Portland.

Great neighborhood, comfortable unit, good price

This basement apartment was just as advertised. Joel was very helpful and a friendly host when I needed it (thanks for the bike route maps!), and gave me total privacy the rest of my stay. The remodeled shower had good pressure and got very hot! The Mt Tabor neighborhood is wonderful for fans of old Craftsman architecture, and the local cafes, pubs and restaurants were close and plentiful. I'll stay here again!

Clean and quiet. Lovely residential area. Close to grocery and train.

The apartment is comfortable with a good bed, adequate bathroom and small kitchen and larger living area. There is a separate entrance with an automatic light which is nice. The entrance is a squeeze. The apartment is fairly dark but has a lovely gas fireplace. Bring your own good coffee. Some spices are provided. Betsy and Joel are pleasant to communicate with. They are flexible also to fit your needs.

Owner's Response: We can provide access to the apartment through our garage if you have a lot of luggage or don't want to use the steps to the separate entrance. We are happy to make this arrangement for our guests upon request.
