About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 5 Sleeps

Come stay in the Red House at Meadowburn Farm! Located in the heart of 590 acres of preserved farmland just 55 miles from New York City, Meadowburn’s Garden Cottage is the perfect retreat into pastoral countryside. It has 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 5 (or a cozy 6) people, 1 full bath, a kitchen, dining room and living room.

Please read our full description so you know exactly what to expect. And visit our Website for more information about Meadowburn Farm.

The Red House:

The house is approximately 1500 sq. ft.. The first floor features a kitchen, large dining room, and living room. The second floor includes a full bath and three bedrooms; a queen, a double, and a 3/4 (between a twin and a double). There is a large back porch with a screened in room, great for summer evenings.

The Red House is situated at the edge of Meadowburn’s historic gardens and across the street from the active farmstead. You might see cows grazing and perhaps a tractor pulling a cart of hay on a weekday. You will hear chickens clucking, ducks quaking, and birds chirping. On a summer eve you will see fireflies dancing about and bright stars in the sky. The large backyard overlooks barns and rolling meadows, with views of Wawayanda State Park in the distance. Please note that this is not a good place for someone who does not appreciate seeing and hearing the daily activity of a working farm.

The house is equipped with Wi-Fi, and has a gas gril, washer/dryer, central heat and A/C. Please note that it does not have a dishwasher. Being a farm house with the electric service coming through the woods, we have been known to occasionally have power outages. Should this occur you will be reimbursed for the period the power is out. Candles, battery lights and extra blankets are provided.

The Location:

Meadowburn Farm is located just 55 miles outside of New York City at the southern tip of the Hudson Valley between Warwick, NY, and Vernon, NJ.

The Red House is adjacent to the historic gardens of Helena Rutherfurd Ely, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The gardens can be toured with prior arrangement. Read more about the gardens on the Meadowburn Farm website.

The Wawayanda Creek winds though the property, and is a great place to catch a trout or two. There are vast meadows, woods, and country roads to walk.

A great house in a lovely location. All the utensils we needed were right there. Great!

We arrived after dark but Kaylie said we could call her if we got stuck. We called! She helped and the week was great. Teatime on the front and back porches were enjoyed daily. The dogs were a big hit with the 1 year old grandson! Everything we needed was available. We had a lovely time. Kaylie was very helpful.

The flowers in the garden are beautiful. We did a lot of walking, and took many photos. We had a very relaxing time. Kaylie is just a phone call away, and very friendly. We will be back!!

Quaint, quiet stay with immaculate gardens and working farm

  • 5 of 5

Meadowburn Farm is a gem! The Red House is so homey and comfy, with a great sun deck that is a perfect spot to enjoy a sunny day, and even made the gentle evening rain enjoyable. We had three little ones (2 twins age 3.5 and a 2 year old) and they LOVED checking out the gardens and the animals across the street. Rosie and Nettles, the resident golden retrievers, made sure to welcome us with their playful energy and we were so happy to be allowed to explore the grounds and gardens. Our little one has been proudly showing off the pumpkin he picked himself from the veggie garden. Kaylie, thanks again for being so welcoming and gracious. We cannot wait to visit again!
