About Darren and Holly

We are just two people who love being near the ocean and can never get enough of the beach lifestyle. We live a mere 25 minutes away but when we go to the cottage we feel instantly relaxed and stress free. The cottage has been and continues to be a great retreat for us and our Families.

Darren and Holly purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Darren and Holly chose Birch Bay

We love the relaxed atmosphere in Birch Bay. When we stay there it really does feel like we are a world away, even though we live less than a half an hour away. We vacation in Birch Bay every summer, and love the fact that the cottage is so close to the Old Candy Store and the beach. On the way to the beach we like to stop in and get an ice cream cone. Or on a morning walk it's great to pick up a coffee and and cinnamon bun and enjoy them in the sunshine.

The bay is also great for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and water skiing. The water is calm and is the warmest north of San Francisco and there is very little to no boat traffic.

The clamming is known to be the best in Washington.

The beach is great for walking on and our dogs particularly enjoy it.

We have had many a family get together there, and also had friends join us.

Birch Bay is also perfectly located between Vancouver and Seattle, and with Bellingham, Fairhaven and La Connor not too far away there is plenty to do in the area.

It's a great spot for a summer vacation or a quiet winter getaway.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is fully equipped, with a washer and dryer, satellite tv, and high speed Wi-Fi. It is very comfortable for a short stay or a longer off season stay.

The deck is full of sun in the afternoon and evenings in the summer, and having a second bathroom is a big bonus for when we have friends or family join us.

We also have RV parking available, and and a fire pit out on the front lawn for fire side chats and s'mores.

Wonderful !!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cozy cottage by the ocean. Shopping and stores were close by .... The only problem was our stay was way too short. We highly recommend if you are heading to Birch Bay this is the place too stay. We would like to thank Darren and Holly for opening the doors of their cottage to us and we will definitely stay there for years to come.....

Cute cozy cottage we will be back!

  • 4 of 5

Just wanted to get away for a few days. We had a great time. Only 5 minute walk to the beach and about 10 minutes to Birch Bay National Park. So happy we were able to bring our dog. Not a lot to do in October most shops closed but still had a nice time. We would love to come back in the summer months. The cottage was super cute and cozy and would stay here again.

Perfect spot for Grandpa, Grandma and an 8 and 6 year old!

  • 4 of 5

Lovely spot, walking distance ( 5-8 minutes) to the beach, comfy beds. If only the owners could have controlled the weather too!!!! We were there during the fires in Eastern Washington and lower British Columbia so smoke and ash were around a lot but it didn't stop us from enjoying our stay. The deck off the living room is terrific: it extends the living room in a great way. The walk to the beach is easy and if the ice cream shop at the corner ( on the way to the beach) hadn't closed for the season after the first day we might have become regulars! Having a washer and dryer was excellent. The cook stove was just about the best electric stove we've cooked on. Clean and tidy. We had a great stay.
