Frequently Asked Questions FAQ
• Is this a 1 bedroom condominium?
Once a Hilton hotel, the Kauai Beach Resort is a condotel run by Aqua. You get resort luxury and individually owned rooms. My #2508 suite is studio size: 307 square feet plus a 58 square foot lanai. Most units are about this size and have similar furnishings. There is no cooking allowed i in the room per county regulations, but there is a coffee maker and mini fridge with freezer plus microwave just down the hall in the lounge.
• What's the difference between my suite, renting from Aqua, or some other travel agency or website? The difference is price, amenities, housekeeping, and choice of room. My suite is quite a bit less expensive overall and has one of the best views since it is on the highest floor with direct(instead of angled) ocean views. Aqua room rates start at $219/night plus tax. Mine starts at $124/night including tax. Amenity differences(subject to change): -no maid service during your stay unless you request it for an additional fee. Aqua has daily maid service. -I do not charge a daily resort fee. Aqua is $25/night -the Aqua resort fee gives their guests the following extras: newspaper, DVDs, Playstation, parking, free airport and shopping shuttle, and cultural activities. My guests can still use the pools, spa, restaurants, bar, room service, shops, business center, fitness center, car rental, and laundry room but may not participate in some of the hula show, lei making, and other on-site activities and would have to pay to rent DVDs or take an airport shuttle. -I do not increase my room charge for more than 2 guests...Aqua does -I do not charge for an extra bed. Aqua charges for a rollaway -parking is $25/day plus tax for my guests. Aqua does not charge their guests separately(it's built into the amenity fee and room rate) -during your stay, if you need assistance you contact myself or my on island contact person. An Aqua guest would go to the front desk.
I know this seems like a lot of stuff but I am hoping to clarify what your experience will be like at the resort. These policies will be the same for all owners like myself who advertise here or on similar vacation rental websites. For most guests, your enjoyment will be equivalent and these differences not noticeable or relevant. Plus you are saving a bunch of money and getting one of the best rooms in the resort!
• Is this an ocean view suite?
YES. And it is not just visible out on the lanai sticking your head around the corner. It is a straight on view from the highest floor in the resort. Other suites may be less expensive, but you are getting a mountain or lagoon view.
• Is there a kitchen?
No, just a 3.5 cu. ft. fridge with freezer and coffee maker. No kitchenware provided(no plates, utensils, pots etc.). There is a microwave down the hall in the lounge
• What is there to do?
For short stays, you may want to keep it simple and stay at the resort enjoying the restaurants and bar, walks along the beach, tennis, spa, or one of the pools. You can arrange with the front desk to rent a car for day trips only when you need it. With a long term car rental to explore all over the island, best rates are probably found at the airport and there is an additional parking charge of $25/day plus tax. Car rental rates vary depending on where you rent, so shop around and book ahead at busy times of the year. The resort is just minutes from the airport and town. Being mid-island makes it perfect for touring the sights of Kauai to the north and south.
• What is the bedding arrangement?
The suite is ideal for 2 adults and up to 2 children using the king size bed and lounger(included). I provide a comfortable twin sized air mattress easily inflated in 90 seconds with an electric pump and a pack and play crib with bassinet at no additional charge.
• Do we need our own beach towels?
The resort will provide towels to use at the pools or beaches at no charge. Failure to return the towel card can result in a $30 charge.
• Is there a resort fee?
Since you are the guest of myself, the owner of #2508, there is no resort fee...a daily savings of $25. There is a $100 cleaning fee collected at time of booking which provides cleaning of the room after your departure. Other VRBO owners add additional fees, but I try to keep mine lower and not lure you in with a teaser nightly rate that gets expensive after all the fees are added. I trust you will take care of my place, so I don't ask for a deposit either. Unfortunately, I cannot control the VRBO service fee. So the only fee you might incur at the resort is $25/day plus tax for parking
• What about WiFi?
WiFi is now free everywhere around the resort!
• Does the suite have air conditioning?
Yes. And nice ocean breezes.
• Where is suite #2508 located?
It is on the top floor(5th) of building 2. This is near to where you check in and also houses dining and shops. Elevators will get you to your floor. Most other buildings are only 3 floors and you have to use stairs. You will enjoy beautiful sunrises each day as you may find yourself up early due to the time change or the local roosters!
-Hawaii tax of 14.42% is added to the nightly rate.
-Parking is $25/day plus tax.
-Mid stay cleaning or towel and trash service can be requested a day ahead from my housekeeping service
-I try to keep extra supplies in the room in the bins under the bed for things like toilet paper, tissues, soap, etc. And I try to supply enough towels, sheets, blankets, and pillows for your comfort during your stay but if you need extras, just let me know a day ahead of time
-There are pool and beach towels available at no charge
-Any stays longer than 7 nights will receive a free mid-stay room clean
-Check-In Time - 3:00pm, Check-Out Time - 11:00am
-I am available to answer any questions or concerns. I am located in southern California. You will be given contact information of an on island person to help you with matters beyond my control

About Tony Cannon
On my first trip to Hawaii as a teenager, I remember when it rained people would just stay under cover for a few minutes until it passed. I thought it was funny because coming from rainy Vancouver Canada, I imagined if back home we waited, we could be standing there for weeks. I found lots more to like about Hawaii on that trip and have travelled there many times since. I've visited the 4 main islands and find each has it's own charm and experiences. I am a real estate broker now in the San Diego area so I can enjoy sunny days almost as often as being in Hawaii.
Tony Cannon purchased this Condo in 2015
Why Tony Cannon chose Līhuʻe
I chose to buy at the Kauai Beach Resort because of it's great location. There's easy access north or south when exploring the island or you can stay near to the airport and have a good time in town while relaxing at the resort for shorter stays. The resort itself does a good job of displaying the aloha spirit with the shows, cultural activities, and grounds maintenance. There's also lots of fun at the Kauai Beach Resort such as the water slide, waterfalls and grotto, tennis next door, Spa, and fitness center. Staying here is more like a hotel experience than vacationing in someone's home. With restaurants, a bar, convenience store, business center, room service, and more on site, you will find it offers plenty of options compared to being in a residential neighborhood.
What makes this Condo unique
I chose suite 2508 because it is the highest up at the resort which means the best views and the quietest. Also it faces directly out to the ocean so those great sunrises can be enjoyed on the balcony or inside the suite. The location in the main building also gives convenience moving luggage around or if you want to check out shops and restaurants.

This is the unit you want to be in at KBR. Top floor, ocean view, clean and comfortable. Hope to stay here again!
Location, Location, Location
The thing we appreciated the most about Tony’s place was the perfect location - at least for us. Great restaurants are <10 minutes away; you are more or less equidistant from the islands scenic north shore and the sunny south and west shores; and the airport is like 5-7 minutes away.
Tony communicated very timely and effectively - just the right amount at the right time. The views from the 5th floor are superb. With binoculars you can even spot a whale or 3.
WiFi worked great.
While the room is just that - essentially a hotel room - it works fine for 2 adults and maybe a very small child. Everything you need is in the room from fridge to coffee maker to microwave to toaster (I think). We only took advantage of the fridge, but appreciated the thought. There is a nice stash of “extras” under the bed in storage bins, too.
It’s Kauai, so expect roosters crowing all day every day everywhere - including the resort’s courtyard. Our earliest wake up was 3:42 🤪The on site laundry facility is nice and convenient. The front desk will gladly provide quarters/change. The happy hour is also nice, but we rarely ate on site - too many other choices nearby.
Bed was comfy enough, but the pillows could use an upgrade as others have mentioned. And WalMart is less than 15 minutes away if you need anything.
For the most part, the property is quiet and the walls are not too thin - exceptions being Saturday wedding celebrations, neighbors not being too considerate with closet doors, front doors and rear doors - but these were the exception and not the rule.
For what it’s worth we suggest: Ha Coffee (açaí bowls) in Lihu’e for breakfast along with Kountry Kitchen (best coffee and huge menu and kid friendly) in Kapaa’a (beware of traffic on the way back); Dukes and Cafe Portofino at the Marriott in Lihu’e; and The Linai, Ruth’s Chris and the Eating House 1842 in Poipu. There are many other lower cost options, but each of these is memorable.
We loved Kauai and were very pleased with the over all value of Tony’s Place. You really can’t go wrong staying here. Thanks Tony!
Great 5 Day stay at Tony's suit
We had a marvelest time at your Resort. The location of our room was top notch. Much like the picture on this survey. The beautiful landscape with the ocean in the background was awesome. The restaurant had a great variety on the menus and the main bar was a lot of fun. Ben was very efficient and a lot of fun.. we took a Helecopter flight which was amazing. The evening at Smith's Luau was superb. We loved the Resort and the the island. We would definitely return to this enjoyable location. Thank you so much. Theresa And Larry. Toronto 🇨🇦
Very convenient to airport and Lihue with easy access to other areas of the island. Beautiful, well maintained facility. Gorgeous view of the pools and ocean, not to mention the sunrises. Loved it! To make it a 5 star, supply more bath towels (we had 3 towels for 2 people for 4 nights) and change the light bulbs out for higher wattage. Might also move the microwave from the bottom of the cabinet to either the top or a shelf mounted on the wall--hard for us older people to get down on our hands and knees to use it where it is.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review and offering some great suggestions. We will now offer 6 towel sets for guests staying 4 nights or longer. Beach towels are also available on a daily basis at no charge. I plan on switching to LED bulbs with a 60W equivalent. Sorry you found the microwave location inconvenient. The rules of the resort limit where it can be placed. I would also like to wall mount the TV but so far that has not been allowed.
I hope you have a chance to come back.
Good hotel room. Sunrises over the ocean was a fantastic sight every morning
Clean, large pool, hot tube, and helpful staff.
Wonderful Ocean View Room at Kauai Beach Resort
The room is spacious and the view if fabulous! The room is very clean and well maintained. Tony has very thoughtfully left extra supplies, if needed. He also emails to ensure your stay is excellent. The resort is beautiful, with multiple pools. The location is perfect for going anywhere on Kauai. We hated to leave and will certainly come back again and book the same room!

Additional information about rental rates
Check-In 3:00pm, Check-Out 11:00am No pets, no smoking Have fun! This is an individually owned "Condotel". You get the benefits of a great resort and renting from a private owner where you know exactly what room you will be getting and it is better taken care of than the typical room. Plus my rate is much lower than an Ocean View room booked through Aqua who manages many of the units. I also have an earlier check in time(theirs is 4pm) and I do my best to accommodate check ins before 3pm or departures after 11am if my calendar allows it...and I don't charge extra for that(just ask)! There is no kitchen in the suite...I do have a coffee maker and mini fridge(with freezer). You can use the microwave a few doors down in the lounge for simple meals. There is no resort or amenity fee and my rate is the same regardless of number of occupants. There is no maid service during your stay unless you are there more than 7 nights. Parking is $25/day plus tax. And you won't be able to use the resort shuttle or partake in the resort cultural activities as those are only for the guests booking directly through the resort where room rates are $200/night and up.
