About Kate Deeter
Jeff and KattiJo (Kate or Katie) met in Juneau, Alaska in the summer of 2010. Jeff is a life-long Alaskan and a multi-time Iditarod finisher. KattiJo is originally from nothwestern Wisconsin. Together Jeff and KattiJo started Black Spruce Dog Sledding in 2013. Now considered one of Fairbanks' best dog sledding tour companies, Black Spruce operates to provide quality, hands-on dog sledding education to visitors from around the world throughout the year.
Why Kate Deeter chose Fairbanks
Jeff and KattiJo own two adjoining 5-acre parcels, at the end of a dead-end road, backed up to Alaska state land, with hundreds of miles of sled dog training trails. One five-acre parcel provides a year-round home for Jeff and KattiJo and their 30 sled dog companions. The second parcel hosts the "Mushers Cabin," which houses wintertime help for the tour company and fellow-Iditarod mushers. In summer, you get to share a little piece of Alaskan heaven, too!
What makes this Cabin unique
This log cabin was constructed with the same love and attention to detail Jeff and KattiJo put into building their own home. Perfectionists to a fault, the Musher's Cabin should include all of the essentials needed for living in true Alaskan comfort and style.
