Overview

About the property

2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms

We have restorated this wonderful old house With much love and care. The oldest part is from 1840 and it has been enlarged two times. Originally it was a farming house, but there has been

a post Office, a grocer, skip expedition and coal trade. Upp to

Three generations have lived here in the same time.

We have reset the house into its ancient style and equiped it

With lots of antic furniture. 188 m 2 makes the house spacious

and confortable. The place is very tranquil and undisturbed.

The scenery on the island is very varied from jagged peaks to sandy beaches. Amazing to see the landscape changing in different light. The mountains are easy to hike and during the

ascent and on the peaks the view is stunning -

new pinnacles and ridges show up and the wide view

across the sea with countless islets and islands and

other mountains.

We also have another home in the vicinity of this, you are also welcome to look at the pictures here

both from the countryside and from the house because of this we

House set to be quite similar with old furniture and

Antiques that match the house.

In summer you can enjoy the midnight sun up here in the winter and from the dance of the Northern Lights are breathtaking.

Please feel welcome to visit our home page for to see more

pictures both of this house and our other holiday house here

on the island and of course the island itselv!

Prachtig gelegen huis op schitterende locatie

  • 5 of 5

A journey to the local culture

  • 5 of 5

The house was "our style": old, a little bit romantic and based on the local architecture and history. We are living in an old house, that´s why it was interesting to live in an old Norwegian house. Everything told to us, that the landlord and the landlady had done their best that we could enjoy our living.

As our house for a week, this old house gave good opportunities to learn the local culture. Near to the house we could see the local agriculture which was also near to our hearts.

Very important it´s is also notice, that the nature is something original. Our landlady also gave us a guided tour up to the mountain. The view up there was beautiful!

So thank you very much.

Best place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Kerstin’s house from 3 to 17 June 2017. It was our 6th stay in Norway. The Engeloya island is beautiful, as many other places in Norway.

Vik village, where the house is located, has 9 or 10 houses, but half of them is empty most of the year. Engeloya is a perfect place for someone who wants to get away from the city and the crowd, who likes peaceful and quiet places and who wants to go fishing.

The beautiful old house is full of vintage furniture that is 100 or more years old, all nicely renovated by Kerstin.

The view from the house is gorgeous. You can spend hours on the terrace, enjoy a glass of wine … well a bottle (or even two) and watch the mountains and the sea.

I think we were lucky with the weather, as from June 5th to 14th the temperature was between 26-28C and the sky was blue, without any clouds, which I think is not typical for Engeloya.

There are a lot of birds on the island, there are many walking (or biking) paths and the landscape is breathtaking.

We spend most of our time fishing, but because of the high temperatures we had only a few successful days. At the beginning when it was 12-13C and the sky was covered by the clouds we caught about 10 cods (5-10kg) and 2 halibuts (14kg and 18kg). During the hot days we only managed to catch cods (about 2kg each)

Maybe not in 2018, but in 2019 for sure we will visit Kerstin’s house again.

We hope that by then the think blinds will be installed in the bedrooms, as it is difficult to sleep during the white nights, if you are not used to it.

Owner's Response: :-) It is not so unusual as you might presume, summer in Northern Norway can be like you just experienced. Concerning black curtains in the master bedroom it is a small problem to close for the option to waking up to a wonderfull view over the sound and the mountains. For People who want to have it dark are there other bed rooms with blinds too.

gemütlich und sauber, sehr persönlich

  • 5 of 5

So gelangen uns eindrucksvolle Fotos, was u.a.

Abgeschiedenheit ohne Abstriche

  • 5 of 5

On the island there is a fort dating from the 2nd World War II, from there

you have a fantastic view of the Lofoten.

The Vikings had one of their centers here on Engeløya, including

evidenced by numerous grave mounds, tombs and other traces of their

Dwellings. In 'Doktorgården', a museum courtyard can

see how the people in the 19th Century lived,

rich collection of artefacts and

Summer cafe with operating with tradtionellen Norwegian pastries.
