Pet Friendly Private Cottage with High Speed Internet Access!
For those who love Door County and want to get away from the crowds --our nicely furnished and very private cottage is just off Hwy 42 in between the towns of Egg Harbor and Fish Creek. The cottage is located on the 10 acre Applewood Farm estate which is beautiful, private and serene. Feel free to bring your small family, including your pet(if well behaved) and enjoy the walking paths around the property. You will have the ultimate in privacy, relaxation and romance as you experience the natural beauty of the area. The cottage has nice furnishings including a NEW Heavenly Bed made famous at Westin Hotels. The cottage also has a bonfire pit, a front and side porch -- picnic table and lots of Adirondack chairs to enjoy the outdoors. Read a book on the porch, listen for the hummingbirds or search for shooting stars at night!
We have furnished and decorated the cottage with care so that you can enjoy a nice home away from home. We want you to love your stay! The cottage is perfect for couples, small families and/or families who want to bring their pets on vacation. The cottage is less than two miles from the public beach in Egg Harbor and four miles from Penninsula State Park in Fish Creek. Enjoy cherry picking across the street at Hyline orchards in July and apple picking from our trees right out the front door in October! Or, play a round of golf right down the street at The Orchards Golf Club!

Our honeymoon was quiet, cozy and romantic…just what we were hoping for. Looking forward to returning for our anniversary. Thanks for everything!
We couldn't believe our eyes when we pulled into the drive ~ an absolutely adorable cottage in a quiet, private setting surrounded by trees and a large field full of wildlife. The inside was just as much of a pleasant surprise, clean and cozy and furnished with just enough of a country touch to make for a welcoming stay. Sharon was the perfect host as well, with her sidekick Jackson following to greet the four-legged guests (even if one of those guests was quite loud and rude). That was our third stay in beautiful Door County within a year, but it was far and away our favorite. Our goal is to make our next stay at Applewood Cottage as soon as possible!
Spent a week at the cottage with my mom and small dog. The farm is beautiful and the cottage is quaint, immaculately clean and well stocked with everything you'd need. We enjoyed all of the little touches from decor to conveniences. Sitting outside -- both day and night -- was most enjoyable. We used the fire pit several times and enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. Location and convenience to Egg Harbor and Fish Creek was perfect. In fact, all areas in DC were very easily accessible. I wish we would have allocated a day for Sturgeon Bay. Lots of great restaurants and shopping there. All in all, a wonderful experience!
My husband and I stayed with our senior bulldog over Thanksgiving and had a fantastic time! The cottage is very comfortable and dog-friendly and the property is really beautiful. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. It was also really nice to be off the beaten track a bit and our dog loved roaming around exploring. We could not have asked for a more relaxing, cozy getaway and look forward to coming back again in the future.
We stayed at the Applewood Cottage for two years in a row--each year we saw improvements inside the cottage. I'm a bit amazed at some of the comments I'm reading. It's a small rustic cottage with a lot of room to hike the grounds (with our Golden Retriever), and it's perfectly located so you can easily visit Door County's towns/parks or just sit under the stars by a campfire, yes, on weathered Adirondeck chairs. You'll receive much-needed privacy and cozy comfort no matter when you stay! Sharon is always a delight to work with--concerned about our stay and responsive to our needs.
My husband and I stayed at the Applewood Cottage for three nights 8/2014.
As a professional event planner, we are very picky and used to 5-Star accommodations.
We couldn't have been happier with this cottage. The location is perfect, blocks from Hwy 42 in between Egg Harbor, Fish Creek and Bailey's Harbor. All this while still feeling remote.
The grounds are georgous, surrounded by the main farmhouse, the apple & cherry orchards, and plenty of walking trails.
Most notably, the cottage is immaculate inside. We were amazed at how perfectly clean everything was. From the complete set of appliances, dishes and pots & pans to the bathroom. Not one cobweb or hint of any musty smell, as one gets used to with cottages.
The best part was that we got to stay here with our dog. One might worry that a cottage that allows dogs would have pet damage, hair or smells. This cottage had no evidence of previous dog presence, other than the lovely cabinet, designed to hold dog bowls, toys treats and blankets. What a nice touch. (I bet their Dyson vacuum helps with this!)
Some highlights included: The extra comfy bed, the abundant spare bedding, 2 blow up twin mattresses, fluffy new bath & beach towels, portable beach chairs, a fancy Weber grill, an outdoor fire pit, wireless internet, and the flat screen with direct TV so that my husband could watch Premier League Soccer Saturday morning!
Sharon was a wonderful host and called me the day prior to our visit. She asked me to text her upon our arrival so that she could make sure everything was to our liking.
My only fear in writing this review is that too many people jam up the avaiilability calendar, as my husband and I plan to go back later this Autumn.
We spent one week here. Door County is our favorite vacation destination. I did write a long letter to the owner itemizing our bitter disappointment. Weeds were very overgrown, dead trees and shrubs. I was told the grounds were in bad shape because of the winter and difficulty in finding someone to fix the property. That is not our problem. Pictures on DoorCountyNavigator website were not an accurate representation of what it looked like to us. It is pet friendly but we were asked to remove our shoes, strip the bedding when we left, water the flowers while owner was on vacation. We could have had a waterfront view for this for the same rental charge. The wooden Adirondack chairs were extremely weathered and I was afraid of getting splinters. I live to return to Door County but not to return to Applewood Cottage. Yes, there are personal touches, but that doesn't excuse the condition of the appearance of the property. I can't recommend this to anyone until it is updated. If you can't make it look wonderful for the rental price, please don't rent it or drop your price. There was a guest signing book. Pretty barren for the last several years.
Enjoy Hiking, Antiques, Art Galleries, and Watersports. Door County has miles of beaches and the best State Parks in the world! The cuisine at local Supper Clubs and restaurants is unmatched for charm and ambiance!
