Located a block from the beach at the center of Galveston Island, our retro-cool beach pad boasts all of the amenities you, your friends and family would expect from a fine hotel, including: linens, towels, WiFi and SMART TV's, while at the same time taking advantage of a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor charcoal grill, washer/dryer in garage, and large privacy-fenced backyard with outdoor dining table. All this tucked away in a location convenient to all that is needed for a relaxing beach getaway. Walk to bars, restaurants (including fine dining and the Rain Forest Cafe), newly replenished beaches, and 61st Street Pier. Several grocery stores a short walk or bike ride away. A 5 minute drive to Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn.

Hawks Nest comes fully furnished with new comfy mattresses (King, Queen, 2 sets of Bunk Beds), and Twin convertible sofa accommodations. Sleeps 9 comfortably. Leather sofas, Jenn Aire range, tile throughout main areas--all the comforts of a fully appointed home. The home has two brand new full baths, one in the private master suite and one for other guests. The master suite also has its own door to the backyard patio area. This home is the perfect size for couples or a large family. Ideal rental for Galveston event weekends and weddings!

Comparable accommodations can run as per night in similar locations and they just don't have the character this home affords, all with a super quiet, safe, dead-end street location.

Restaurants, shops, grocery store, the 61st St. Pier, surfing, paddle boarding and swimming are only steps away. Hop on your bike and take a short ride to the Pleasure Pier and surrounding restaurants or pull out of the driveway and head to the Historic District and The Strand.

About John Townsend

I am originally from the barrier island resort town of Ocean City, Maryland, and my wife spent most of her adult life in the Sarasota/Naples Florida area. We are beach babies at heart; now Texans and love making our way to Galveston as much as time permits.

Why John Townsend chose Galveston

We made every effort to create a cozy quite place to accommodate our guests. We love this property because of its large backyard, ample parking, large closets, 2 FULL baths, and quiet neighborhood. It has everything you need. This home is literally steps away from the beach, grocery store and restaurants. If you bring a bike...all the better (you can rent them close to the house as well!). You can get anywhere quickly being so close to the Seawall. Our neighbors are great and the backyard affords great privacy while being pet friendly. Use of the garage is encouraged to store bikes, and luggage safely. Our guests have full use of the washer and dryer.

What makes this house unique

So close to the beach and seawall but tucked away. Quiet and relaxing. Awesome central island location. Why drive all the way down to the West End for peace and quiet?...it's just too far to drive when you want to enjoy Galveston!. Stay at Hawks Nest instead!

Clean, spacious, and a great location!

We chose the Hawk's Nest because of the location. It was very close to Kroger and only about a block and a half from the seawall. Honestly, we thought we would give up some of the comforts we were used to staying in Jamaica Beach. That wasn't the case at all. This place is a great value and we couldn't be happier with our stay. Hopefully it will be available next year and we'll book it again!

Very nice home

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was great to walk just a couple of minutes and be at the beach or the grocery store. The living area was big enough for all of us and very well set up. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were good sizes. The kitchen appliances were good and there was even a crock pot. The washer and dryer came in very handy. We were able to wash the salt water and sand off our dog right at the front of the house since there was a hose handy. Access to the outside for the dog was convenient. Mr. Townsend was very helpful anytime we had a question.

Just one block off the beach on a dead end street in a quiet family neighborhood. Very short walk to Kroger Signature Grocery, restaurants, Rain Forest Cafe, Convention Center and shopping. Bike rental one block away. 61st Street Pier two blocks away. Park the car and you're done.

We take great care of the vacation home and we hope our guests have a relaxing, stress free stay! Please note, for our guests' protection, Hawks Nest's licensed and insured cleaning company photographically documents all damage, including but not limited to damage to furnishings, carpets, window treatments, decor, appliances, TVs, electronics, doors (including garage door) excessive wear and tear to the outdoor areas and garage area. Any smoke odors and/or damage will be documented by at least two employees. In addition, Hawks Nest maintains a comprehensive inventory of the property, including but not limited to linens, towels, small appliances, kitchen wares, and furnishings. Any missing or damaged items that are not promptly reported by our guests directly to Hawks Nest will be documented by the cleaning company, and an appropriate amount of guests' damage deposit will be retained to cover the cost of repair or replacement.

There is a MANDATORY cleaning fee of $200 above and beyond the standard cleaning fee, to be held from refundable security deposit, if there is evidence of cigarette smoke in the home after your departure.

We assess a $50.00 cancellation fee for any reservation canceled more that 60 days from the rental date. Additional cancellation details can be found in the contract.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
