A Classic Alaska Dry Cabin On The Shores Of Kenai Lake

About Jan-Ake Schultz
We moved to Alaska in 2000 and were wonderfully fortunate to acquire this property. After building the cabin and raising Our family here, now is the time to share it with like-minded travelers who will appreciate its unique and magical features
Jan-Ake Schultz purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Jan-Ake Schultz chose Seward
This is no hotel room. If you sit on the deck and read about Alaska Nellie and the sourdoughs who pioneered this great land you will feel and be a part of the story. The Iditarod National Historic Trail runs along the frozen lakefront in winter......
What makes this Cabin unique
History- You will pass the 100 Year old historic cabin on the way in, you will travel the gravel footpaths, you will watch the morning fog burn off the lake, you will witness and hear the flight of sandhill cranes overhead in season

Awesome Alaska Setting
Perfect cabin on Alaskan lake!
Sauna experience topped off this perfect setting to enjoy this peaceful stay!
We stayed at the Ketchikan Cabin for four nights mid-August. Two adults, two teenagers. We fit well. Inside: flannel sheets, very comfortable beds, nice pillows, easy to use one-burner stove, a giant and a small-ish cooler, easy to get the water and a Brita filter for those who want a non-irony taste, super clean, one 3-drawer bureau, large trunk, shelves, large dining table, propane wall lamps (which we never used). (Also a wood stove and chairs / hassock but we didn't use those either because the outside deck always called!!) Outside: massive deck steps from lake, front and back stairs, 25 steps to private outhouse, short walk to sauna and woodpile and water, summer-only shared hot shower. Three-quarter wrap around deck, huge on the back / lake side. Tons chairs, tables and a picnic table on deck. Awesome firepit on deck with grill on it in addition to propane-fueled grill on side deck. Parking is directly adjacent to cabin. Neighboring property's (Renfro's) lake access is next to this cabin but no bother at all to us - maybe saw 2-6 people there on any day and all were quiet and friendly. Kayaks and rowboats and PFDs available and in excellent condition. Train came through a few times a day - not early or late. We put coins on the track :) Gary was great the entire process, from pre-registration through departure. Very thorough and informative. Gary also booked our Kenai Fjords tour: nice!! Maybe 20 minutes into Seward. Wish we could have stayed longer - amazing to be right at the lake, beautiful mountain views, woods all around! Highly recommend.
Amazing Alaska vacation
Perfect experience on the lake
Fun at Kenai Lake
Enjoyed waking up to a beautiful view of the lake. Sitting on the porch watching the ducks and weather. Had fun in the sauna followed by a jump in the lake and an outdoor shower experience!
The cabin had everything we needed and the beds were oh so comfy! Gary was so helpful and ready to assist with all our needs! Awesome place to stay!
Oh, it was very private, we had no issues with neighbors.
We had a wonderful stay overlooking the lake. Our family of 4 relaxed outside and enjoyed paddling on the lake till almost midnight in mid July.
Just the best!
We couldn’t ask for a more perfect stay...even with the wildfire smoke. Midnight kayaks, saunas both nights, cold plunges in the lake, eating our meals on the porch...I could go on and on. We stayed local but could also be used as a home base for exploring the larger area. We couldn’t recommend this place more!!!
