About Wendy Gustofson

We are native Minnesotan's that lived in Missouri for a time. We built this house and were sad to have to part with it. For that reason, we decided to hang on and let you enjoy it for a while!

Wendy Gustofson purchased this house in 2009

Why Wendy Gustofson chose Hartsburg

We hope that you will love being in this peaceful retreat as much as we do. Listen to the cicadas, the spring peepers, the birds. Spot deer while you are roasting marshmallows at the end of a day of enjoying Mid Mo!

Notes:
This home is situated off the main road, about 700 feet back in a cedar/elm grove. We love nature and that's why we built where we did. You can expect to see wildlife while you stay at this home and we hope that you will appreciate it as we do. Besides deer, opossum, fox, rabbits, and squirrels we have also seen a wide variety of reptile, insect and bug life. Black snakes are common in Missouri and are not harmful in the least. In fact, they keep away the mice, and the snakes that you don't want around. Turtles are common and in the spring, we see many crossing the roads. Walking Sticks and Praying Mantis are so cool and you may see them on the side of the house! There are spiders in Missouri. The Brown Recluse is the nasty one, but he's a recluse, and you likely won't see him. Bugs are common, they like to stay in the ground where it's damp, and sometimes come into the house. Don't leave food out. Inside or out- it's an invitation! Check in after 2pm Check out by 2pm

Very convenient to Katy Trail

  • 5 of 5

We were doing a multi-day family trip across Missouri on the Katy Trail. The house is only a few miles off the trail, and was extremely convenient as a launch point for the shuttles. The house was clean and spotless, loved the multiple bedrooms and very spacious upstairs. It was perfect for our group of adults and children. Wendy was gracious, helpful and always prompt. If I ever end up near Columbia or Jefferson City I would stay here again.

Great House in MId-Missouri

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house as supplemental housing for a big family gathering. Everything worked great for our guests. Wendy and Angie were responsive and the house was as advertised. Lots of space in the house. It's in a wooded location, but with convenient access to Highway 63. Thanks!

Graduation Party

  • 5 of 5

We had the perfect house for my son's graduation party from Mizzou. We had about 12 people which was perfect for all of us. We had a party after graduation, which everyone enjoyed and loved the house. We talked and laughed by the fire pit each night. Loved it!!!! Thanks Wendy!

Beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

Great for large family gatherings with 4 bedrooms and large upstairs family room at a very reasonable price. Loved having the fire pit available and used it everyday during our stay.

Wendy was great at answering questions promptly. If we do another family gathering close to Columbia, I will check to see if this home is available first.

Katy Trail Riders

  • 4 of 5

My husband & I recently stayed @The Cedar House while visiting Missouri to bicycle The Katy Trail. There were just 2 of us in that HUGE house but there was plenty of room to accommodate 2 families comfortably. We chose the house because of the location. It was located close to the Hartsburg trailhead for The Katy Trail. We were able to complete 238 miles( biking)on the trail during our stay by driving to different trailheads from this central location. The property was very private and the accommodations were nice. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen because we cooked and ate in most of our stay. The WIFI/cellular service to/at the house was good. We did miss listening to our CDs & the radio to pick up the local weather reports as there was no sound system/CD player at the property. We just used our cell phones to play music and find weather updates. The owner was very nice checking on us to make sure we had found the location and whether we needed anything. Would definitely book again.
