Private 2 bedroom one bath apartment on top floor of a 1900 Victorian House

Situated on the top floor of a 1900 Victorian house, this sophisticated apartment boasts soaring ten foot ceilings, refinished and stained fir floors, beautiful original windows and an updated bathroom and kitchen. The comfortable space has a covered front porch with Adirondack chairs for enjoying the beautiful sunsets, and a fully stocked kitchen with quartz counters and state of the art stainless appliances which makes creating a meal easy. The two bedrooms each have a queen sized bed, and the couch in the living room pulls out to provide an additional full size bed.

About Jeff Williams

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, I've lived all over the United States thanks to my career in sales and marketing, Kansas, Texas, New York, Maryland, North Carolina and California. I now live in Tacoma Washington, I work as a realtor with Windermere, and I also purchase, restore, and resell historic houses in the North end of Tacoma. I own and show Quarter Horses, and I'm an avid snowboarder.

Why Jeff Williams chose North End

I originally bought this property in 2004 while living in Los Angeles, thinking that I would eventually convert it back into a single family home for me to live in. Plans changed, and over the years I've had such great tenants in the house that I decided to just renovate it and keep it as historic apartments.

Ten weeks in Tacoma

The general appearance of the property was good. The beds were alright, the location was great, the kitchen was done well. However there some items that should be addressed:

1. Sun from the west very strong in the northwest in the summer, there were no shades on the west side.

2. TV was bottom basic not even with a guide to use, had to go the internet to check out Click's schedule.

3. Most of the windows were painted shut. (Yes I know it was a 100 year old building.) The evening breeze was from the west and we had one window that opened.

4. Floors squeaked in bed room, living room, dinning room. Kitchen and baths were great, no noise.

5. Some problems with lower tenant who seem to like to burn wood, you know where the smoke went, to top floor open windows. After contacting the owner this was stopped.

6. Front yard was not addressed, not watered and not weeded.

7. The owner was very courteous and helpful when needed.

8. Summary I would stay here again. The area was wonderful, the walks around the neighborhood was a delight to see some of the 100 plus old homes kept in their splendor .

Nice and convenient

We enjoyed our stay in this apartment except for the following issues: mouse tracks in bathroom cupboard and under kitchen sink and actually, saw a mouse in the bathroom; rail at top of steps was very loose and could have fallen off easily; doorknob on the door leading out to laundry room fell off twice - luckily, my son-in-law came over and was able to tighten both of these items; and finally, water leaked into the living area from a hard and windy rain - not sure where it came from.

Owner's Response: Faye thank you again for bringing these issues to my attention. A mouse was discovered in the apartment after your stay and a pest control company has since addressed the issue. The repair items have also been taken care of. Again thanks for your comments. Jeff.

Lovely, comfortable rental

We stayed here for 5 days in November visiting our kids at UPS over Thanksgiving. The trip was originally 3 days but when our son had an emergency appendectomy we had to add 2 days which the owner did quickly and efficiently for us. The two rooms have comfortable beds, kitchen has all you would need and there is a nice dining room table that can seat 4 easily. Washer and Dryer are on back landing and tv room has a nice tv, cable and internet with netflix and hulu and you are in a loverly residential neighborhood to boot. We will rent here again.

Very nice!

We had a very nice stay... It was in a classic area of Tacoma and accessible to nearly everything. This place is quiet, clean, and met our needs perfectly. We love this area of Tacoma and we felt like it was a home away from home. We only wish we had more time. We really appreciated our stay in this classic home. Thanks so much for letting us stay!

Beautifully updated apartment in great neighborhood.

Apartment is half of a Victorian house which is just recently updated and decorated impeccably.

It is a lovely neighborhood with similarly restored and well kept homes, and close to stadium district and downtown.

We were a couple and 2 teenage kids and were very comfy.

The apartment and bedding were perfectly clean.

We didn't have much time to cook during our stay. Kitchen was well equipped, but not yet stocked with staples (spices, oil).

We would definitely stay here again.

Tacoma's historic Stadium District is anchored by Stadium High School, an iconic Hewitt and Hewitt designed French Renaissance structure originally built as a hotel in 1891. Construction was halted before completion by an economic downturn in 1893, and when a fire burned much of the existing structure in 1898, the city of Tacoma decided to re-purpose the building as a school. Stadium High opened in 1906. The district that bears its name offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants in close proximity to downtown, Old Town, Wright Park and the waterfront. Annual neighborhood events include the Dickens Festival and the Art & Wine Walk.

The apartment is located within walking distance of many local bars and restaurants as well as historic Wright Park. Downtown is a bit further and can be reached by car or bus, the bus stop to downtown is one block from the apartment. Parking is available on the street in front of the apartment.
