Luxury penthouse with an expansive terrace from which to enjoy Roman life 'al fresco'.

Located in the upscale Prati neighborhood, an area along the western side of the Tiber River with graceful buildings ,it is much coveted by Romans as one of the most livable historic center locations. It is convenient to the major sites, walkable to shops, cafes, restaurants and public transportation.

“Just across the river from the historic center and five minutes walk from St. Peter's, the Prati neighborhood is quiet at night, but filled with food shops, restaurants, gelaterias, and terrific shopping.”

Prati has much appeal with some of the best shopping in Rome. The neighborhood was developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s with wide, tree-lined streets reminiscent of the boulevards of Paris. Romans and visitors appreciate the proximity to the popular historical center while being able to escape the crowds in the narrow streets.

The apartment is at the top is a well maintained seven-story building from the 1800`s. Enter the lobby and there is a very small elevator up a few steps.

“From the moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were staying in a rare gem hidden within this city that has become one of my personal favorites over the years.”

A small foyer opens to a long attractive hallway with a trio of windows dressed in elegant silk drapes. Because the apartment is top floor with windows on both sides it is bright and pleasant year round.

At the end of the hall is the living room with vaulted ceilings, a fireplace [non-working], two sofas, dining table and chairs and and glass doors that open to the terrace. One of the sofas converts to a queen size sofa bed, the other into a single sofa bed. The apartment is decorated with taste and style, with a successful blend of family heirloom antiques with modern pieces such as the glass dining table. Handsome wall sconces, interesting decorative curios from the owner`s global travels and tasteful artwork are the icing on the we haven`t even started to talk about the terrace.

Up two steps to the terrace where you can enjoy the best of Rome from this outdoor retreat. A view of the terrace is enjoyed from the living room, the kitchen and the bedroom. Life under the Roman skies will be yours, whether it`s enjoy meals outdoors at the patio table or lounging on the recliners while you read your book or nap. What better way to enjoy 'La Dolce Vita'.

“Our favorite part of Fresco was the terrace. Surrounded by flowers, plants and trees, it was a true oasis for us.”

The kitchen is modern and fun with a jolt of vivid red and with doors to terrace. Cabinets and appliances line one wall with refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, stove, oven, microwave. It is fully furnished with pots, pans, dishes.

“Comfortable couches and a dining table to enjoy breakfast each morning.”

The living room and kitchen both have doors so the living room can be closed off for privacy.

Off the hallway is a half-bath with toilet and sink.

The bedroom has a queen size bed, antique bureau, night tables with lamps, a wall of closets and a pleasant large window to the terrace. The master bathroom is en suite with marble finishes, sink with good counter top space, toilet, bidet and bathtub with shower over.

“The bedding was beautiful with ironed cotton sheets and a king size bed.”

About The Owner

This apartment is offered by Italy Perfect. We are a family business with a mission! We want you to love visiting Italy as much as we do. We are sisters Lisa and Pat Byrne who lived in Italy in our youth and now travel there frequently for business and pleasure.

We offer only short term rentals that we carefully hand pick for their locations, furnishings, amenities, and that we can personally recommend and would want to stay in ourselves. We travel frequently to inspect, and usually stay in, the rentals we represent. We select vacation rentals that offer charm, good locations, cleanliness, quality furnishings and hospitable welcomes. We count the number of steps up to the property, check the size of the refrigerator, shower, listen for noise, inventory the kitchen equipment and even inspect the mattresses. This is our most important point of differentiation which sets us apart from many other vacation rental firms. Even with careful advance research and personal connections, we still choose to not represent more than 50% of the properties we visit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We searched long and hard for the right apartment for our week break in Rome, and without doubt we found it. Firstly, the information on the website was very clear and the video tour was very useful as its difficult to get a feel for a place with just photos. The booking process was efficient and easy, even the website registration went smoothly and the communications we received made it a personal experience. The arrival info was well worth filling in, as we felt comforted someone was looking out for us and no need to worry about anything really, even offering to help with the car transfer....which worked very well, Stefano car service highly recommended!! On arrival we were met by the very friendly and lovely greeter, who took the time to explain everything, even showed us some good local places to shop and eat. The Fresco apartment really is a home from home. It has everything you need, is incredibly comfortable (the bed is amazing, firm but luxurious, a difficult balance to get right), the terrace is lovely and large with furniture to dine or relax in the sun. It feels authentic and lived in yet very clean and good quality, you could easily live here. We loved the lift (elevator), yes it's an antique, quirky, and very cosy, but so cute and actually works very well, made us smile venturing out each morning and returning each evening. The location is terrific, so quiet at night yet only a few mins walk from the Vatican or the centre of town via a selection of stunning bridges. There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops just minutes away and even the other side of the city centre is no more than 25-30 mins easy walking. Metro is 5 mins walk, truly a great location, we loved everything. There are endless great places to eat/drink in this amazing city but if you want a good recommendation for your first night or during your stay, try Cantine Cavour (stunning family restaurant, best ever steak, amazing octopus and Zocholetta dessert omg!!) or Porta Castello (cute and friendly busy family trattoria literally a minute from the apartment, great food, brilliant value and the take-away pizzas are best I've ever had, we took some back to the apartment, so thin and crispy, wow!). Thanks so much to Italy Perfect for making our first holiday in Rome one to remember and certainly not our last :-)

Perfect Choice for A Second Honeymoon in Rome

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was well situated in the city and my wife and I walked everywhere, except to Via Appica Antica. We walked to St. Peter's, the Vatican Museum, the market near the Vatican, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Via Veneto and the Spanish Steps, Villa Bourghese, and other places. The location enabled us to make this happen. The apartment has lovely furniture and decorations. The terrace offered enjoyable times for breakfast and evening relaxation. The spaciousness provided comfort. The kitchen was well-suited for preparing meals (my wife is a superb cook and after a day at the market we brought home lots of fresh veggies, bread, cheeses, pasta, and wine and ate a fabulous meal on the terrace). The price was right. All-in-all, when we return to Rome we'll attempt to rent the same apartment - kudos to the owner and the managers.

Beautifully decorated, comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Great location, we were able to walk everywhere. The washing machine was giving us trouble and was not resolved for us while we were there. Extra linens for an overnight guest were not delivered. The manager of the property we felt was too busy to handle problems in a timely manner. Otherwise, we were very happy! The terrace was wonderful , bed good and plenty of hot water.

Owner's Response: We were glad these guests were able to enjoy the beautifully decorated, apartment, the terrace, the bed and hot water. We are sorry the washer wasn’t working properly. We have replaced the washing machine. There was some confusion in the number of guests because the guest was traveling and not responding to requests for information so we were surprised when an additional guest showed up so they were short a towel for one night.

A 3-Month Dream

  • 5 of 5

I knew as soon as I saw the picture of the terrace that this was to be my home for 3 months in Rome - and I was certainly not disappointed! Fresco is a lovely apartment, nicely decorated and comfortable in every way. When I was there by myself, the bedroom with pleasant bathroom was perfect. When I had a guest, the sleeper sofa for them was comfortable, and the half bath a godsend. The terrace was even better than expected -- large and filled with plants. Prati is a perfect neighborhood, close to the Vatican but nicely away from the main tourist routes to it - and a 15-20 minute walk to il centro across a bridge with angels -- ah, Roma. The owner was wonderfully responsive on the few occasions when I had questions. I can't recommend the apartment or the services of Italy Perfect more highly.

It is a prime location.

  • 5 of 5

Prati is quiet and at a walking distance from main monuments.

Mercato rionale is cheap but Franchi and Castroni top level.

Many supermarkets nearby.

Terrace is a real plus.

Without any doubt I recommend Italy Perfect.

Great professionalism of all the team from headquarters to the greeter as kind than efficient and available.

Best apartment rental in 15 years. Exceeded expectations.

  • 5 of 5

Italy Perfect was absolutely perfect going way beyond with providing information. The property was exactly as presented which is rare. The furnishings were very nice and the area was very safe and beautiful. Shopping was around every corner. The area is loaded with good restaurants and markets. You get much more quality area in this rental and for a reasonable price. We have paid twice this amount for hotel accommodations. Sahvelah which I have butchered the spelling, is a wonderful person. She is so warm and friendly. She gives you top notch service beginning to end. Probably my favorite person we met in Rome and Florence.

Proximity to everything is within walking distance unless you are a bit lazy like us and take a taxi or the Metro. Everything is convenient and the accommodations are posh, clean and safe. The amenities of the area were endless. Thank you Sahvelah for everything. We will see you again.
