About Les & Candi Walker
My husband and I are retired and have enjoyed winter living in Centenario. We have met many wonderful Americans and Canadians and look forward to seeing them every winter.
Les & Candi Walker purchased this House in 2010
Why Les & Candi Walker chose El Centenario
We decided if we were going to live in Mexico we were actually going to buy a house with Mexican neighbors and that is what we have. The majority of the Mexican people are very hard working and very friendly. If you greet them with "hola" they will greet you back.
What makes this House unique
The location of our home has given us the opportunity to know what it is to really live in Mexico. Vendors walk or drive by the house selling produce, water, and plants. You may hear music from 2 or 3 nearby homes playing and the smells from the cooking is heavenly.

A very unique activity in the area is swimming with the whale sharks. Whale sharks are in the Bay of LaPaz and swim near the surface while looking for plankton to eat. There are boats for hire along the malecon in LaPaz that will take you out. The best time of year for this is usually November thru March. There are 30 restaurants on a 12-mile stretch of Hwy 1 beginning at the Pemex station on the way into LaPaz. They range from a very nice restaurant/bar to hot dog stands on the side of the road and everything in between. If you are hungry for a fish taco Trasvina's is the place located along Hwy 1 between Centenario and LaPaz (closed Wednesday). If you want a nice sit down restaurant/bar Big Ruby's Cantina is less than a mile away on Hwy 1 (closed Monday & Tuesday). As you enter LaPaz from Centenario there is a big whales' tail where the road divides. Walmart and Sams Club will be on the left. If you take the right you will find a strip mall area behind Home Depot that includes a fitness center, bowling, shopping, and Soriana grocery store. There is a very nice movie theater located in the Liverpool shopping area (just before Home Depot) as well as a Dairy Queen, Subway, Starbucks, and lots of shopping opportunities. We would love to share more so please don't hesitate to ask.
