Why Beverly Lawrence and Fred Glasbergen chose Garden Bay

We enjoyed a cabin on the Sechelt Inlet for 12 years but decided it was time for us to find a place back on the grid.

We were excited about this magical property from the first photographs we saw and fell in love with it the moment we set foot there.

What makes this house unique

The cedar, custom built house and peaceful views of Oyster bay and the surrounding hills took our breath away when we first saw it. Everywhere we walked on the property we were thrilled by the beautiful views. The water in the Bay is generally calm and ideal for kayaking and as the tide retreats the wet areas are populated by seabirds. Eagles swoop and call in the bay and sometimes elk can be seen.

An oasis of beauty and comfort

Our time in Oyster bay house was beyond wonderful.

The house is stunning and very comfortable. Bedding, furniture, towels, absolutely everything was perfect.

The setting is spectacular and the owners could not have been more helpful and kind.

We cannot say enough good things about our stay and truly hope to return again.

The Perfect Place to Unwind and Reconnect

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent the last two weeks of August at Oyster Bay House. After seeing the photos on the website, we were really looking forward to our time there and were delighted to find that the property exceeded our expectations. I was recovering from an injury, so my husband and I spent a lot of time just sitting on the wraparound deck reading, playing games, and taking in the view. The house is up high in the trees, so it really does feel like you're sitting in a luxurious treehouse built for adults. Even though it was a hot summer, there was always a nice breeze up on the deck and we could sit in the sun or shade as we chose. The house is built on a nice quiet road, so we walked every morning and enjoyed the view of the bay and the trees. The property is beautifully landscaped, and we loved having so much space to ourselves. There are several lookout areas with Adirondack chairs where we were able to sit and watch the tide come in or go out as we sipped our coffee in the morning or had a drink before dinner, and we could usually spot a seal swimming in the bay.

The teenagers and twenty-somethings enjoyed hiking the many local trails, exploring the surrounding lakes, and kayaking (though they quickly learned that they needed to time their ocean excursions with the tides). There was plenty of space for everyone, and since the teens were up late, they gathered around a fire in the gazebo most nights and slept up in the loft.

We cooked a lot while we were there and found the kitchen to be quite well equipped. There's a big dining table, a breakfast bar, a couple of patio tables, and a picnic table, so we never felt crowded. The house was immaculate when we arrived, and there were lots of board games, books, videos, and other things to do in the event of a rainy day.

The hosts were very pleasant to deal with and have obviously made every effort to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay. We'd definitely love to return to Oyster Bay and recommend it as a hidden gem on the Sunshine Coast.

Relaxation at its best!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter, son in law and two young teens had a wonderful time in this lovely, secluded home. The views were amazing and there was plenty of room and privacy for all on the property. We enjoyed the inlet and local lakes and were very close to everything we needed. My son inlaw became addicted to kyaking and boarding and the two children didn't want to go anywhere else but the little beach. We hope to return soon for more peaceful timeouts from our busy world.

Wonderful place to enjoy some downtime

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable week at the Garden Bay cottage. Lots of paddle boarding, swimming and kayaking, as well as exploring Garden Bay and Pender Harbour. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen, sports equipment and entertainment. Lovely views from the deck. Mosquitos are a bit of a nuisance only at dusk - a bit of spray keeps them away.
