We invite you to our quiet 4 bedroom cottage on the cove. Located on the long arm of Secret Cove amongst tall cedar trees, you can enjoy the tranquility of the gardens while sitting on the garden swing and listening to the buzzing of busy bees or the graceful play of the humming birds, while you close your eyes and just relax.
Or you can follow our garden path and steps down to the tidal fjord; dig for oysters in the cove, go for a swim, or sit and relax while watching the wildlife surround you. Listen to the calming sounds of Homesite Creek as it flows into the ocean while bald eagles, blue herons and ravens come seeking food.
Launch the canoe (provided) and explore some ten kilometers of protected shoreline in Secret Cove. Paddle around the islands, put the crab trap down to catch dinner, or visit the marina and take the water taxi to the beautiful sandy beaches at Buccaneer Bay on Thormanby Island.
In the evening go off to Coopers Green Regional Park where you can watch the activities at the boat launch, comb the beach for seashells or drift wood, and watch the sun say goodbye for the day. Then come back and light the campfire, roast marshmallows, make s'mores, and sip on a glass of your favourite wine while watching the flames dancing in the dark. Take advantage of the fresh evening air to plan you next day's adventure.
The choices are endless. You could hike one of the many local trails or explore Smuggler Cove Provincial Marine Park with trails overlooking the Strait of Georgia. Charter a local fishing boat
(5 minutes up the road) and try your luck at fishing for salmon or ling cod. Venture off, to one of the many mountain biking trails, or arrange a sea kayak lesson at the Rock Water Resort (10 minutes up the road) the choice is yours.
The Sunshine Coast is host to several festivals, the Gibsons Jazz Festival in June, Sea Cavalcade in July, the Festival of the Written Arts and Pender Harbour Chamber Music Festival in August, and the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival in September just to mention a few.
Throughout the summer there are many craft fairs and farmers markets to attend. Artisan studios dot the landscape all along the coastal highway where shopping for unique gifts are a treat on a rainy day. (look for the purple road side banners)
There are lots of choices for dining out, from fine dinning at the Rock Water Resort or The Upper Deck Cafe, floating restaurant in Secret Cove. If you want to make your own meals, you can put a steak on the bar-b-cue on the front porch or put a casserole in the full size oven. You can dine outside at the table for four on the covered porch or inside at the dining room table with seating for six. A full size refrigerator, basic cooking ingredients, and all the pots and pans you will ever need allow for any meal plan.
So start dreaming now, book a date, and bring your favorite book.............. in case it rains.

Homey and welcoming. Fresh baked cookies and a fire burning upon arrival.
A great stocked vacation rental with ample beds for a family of five. Very comfortable with board games, books, cards and wii games and movies.
What a great place!
We had a great stay as a family of 5. A great base of operations to see everything on the sunshine coast. The space was perfect for everything from dinnertime to roasting marshmallow outside at the fire pit to quiet time after all the kids were asleep. A wonderful stay we hope to repeat!
We had a lovely stay - two adults, two kids and a dog. When we arrived, the woodburning fireplace was lit, and Jackie greeted us with those delicious homemade cookies I read about!! Enjoyed the cozy fireplace, some snacks and wine, and some games. Kitchen had all the amenities we could possibly need. One of the beds was really comfy, the others were just fine. Campfire was a highlight for sure!! The title of this listing says waterfront, and it is indeed close, but I assumed (even though the photos show it's surrounded by trees and the map shows clearly where it's located) that we'd have a view. So while that was mildly disappointing, I totally own that mistake - just a heads-up. And like I say, it was super cozy and lovely, and beautiful hikes and beaches were really close. And just a quick walk down a path and some steps and you're down at the water. We could hear the waterfalls and took a gorgeous rugged hike to see them up close. A lovely spot. Thanks so much!
Relaxing Winter Days By the Fire
We have stayed at Ian and Jackie's twice now, both in the wintertime. We arrived to Jackie placing a fresh log on the fire in the wood-burning stove and to a big batch of homemade cookies. The house has absolutely everything you need and there have also been some really nice renovations done since we stayed last, including a brand new bathroom next to the mud room.
We are already missing sitting by the wood-burning fireplace and will definitely be back.
Thanks for a great stay!
This was a terrific place to stay. It was very comfortable, warm and cozy on those very chilly days in January! There's lots of seating areas, so space for 2 or 3 couples would not be a problem. We were only 2, with 2 dogs. Great base from which to get out and explore, and private enough so we really felt like we "got away". Very gracious host/hostess. Our dogs also loved it, great deck for them to view their surroundings, safely. This is definitely a do-again! Thanks so much for the great stay.
Fantastic spacious retreat on the water with everything you need.
A group of 7, a baby and a dog spent 2 nights over NYE 2018. We really appreciated the little touches. From the treats to the baby gear, we felt immediately comfortable at Ian and Jackie’s place. The space was immaculate with everything you need to spend time in nature. Secret Cove has some very beautiful hikes and ocean side scenes to take in. All the best to Ian and Jackie in 2018!
