This cowboy house is situated on a 76 acre macadamia nut farm in tropical North Kohala, Hawaii. The views are of the ocean, palm trees and fruit trees. Wake up in the morning to a beautiful view of the ocean from the master bedroom. Enjoy beautiful rural Kohala with a cup of your favorite kona coffee while strolling through the orchard. There are various fruit trees around the house and on the estate.
This cowboy (paniola) house is ideal for 2 - 4 people. The house is 800 square feet, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. There is a living room and dining room. The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is a laundry room right outside the front door. There is one TV in the living room.
The master bedroom has a lovely ocean view. The second bedroom has a view of the longan trees. You can see the ocean from the living room and dining room. The house is at 600 foot elevation where the weather is tropical and breezy. You are minutes from downtown Kapaau and Hawi where you will find plenty of shopping possibilities and restaurants.
All our guests so far have commented how peaceful it is to stay here.
There is a view of the Island of Maui as well as the blue pacific ocean.
If you enjoy hiking, Pololu Valley is a short drive away. Its a 30 minute hike down and 45 minute hike up. If you choose to hike it, there is a black sand beach at the bottom.
You won't want to miss the lively Saturday morning farmers market under the banyan tree in the center of Hawi town. Visit Kapaau to see the King Kamehameha statue. Swim and snorkel at one of the nearby beaches. Listen to live music at local restaurants.
The drive to the house takes you right through the Macadamia orchard. We recommend renting an SUV or all wheel drive car, a regular car will make it but when it rains, the road gets muddy. To get to the house you will drive through 2 gates, one needs to be manually opened and
closed, the second one has an electric gate. You might spot the horse that grazes around the orchard as you drive up to the house.

The Cowboy was a perfect ohana
We rented both the main house and the Cowboy. The Cowboy gave our guests the perfect private space while still being a part of the main house for getting together. Clean and nicely appointed.

I have stayed here several times and it was a great stay, as always. Very clean and picturesque environment. I love getting to see the milkyway at night.
The unit was clean and comfortable. Arriving and leaving were made very easy. The property was amazing to explore. This was a wonderful alternative to the fancy and crowded resorts!
Clean, rustic but completely in style with the cowboy motiff, everything at your fingertips.
Very quiet, lots of space to roam and enjoy the solitude of that part of the island. Very courteous housekeeper and rental agent. Needed help with the TV connections and Olivia was there the next day. Our stay came to an end much too quickly. Would recommend the place to anyone wanting an out of the way hideout.
Peaceful farm retreat
We had a lovely time at the Cowboy house last week. The managing agent, Olivia met us in town and led us up the dirt road to the immaculately kept rental. There were views of Haleakala across the channel and a raucous chorus of birds every morning. The drive up from the main road is through a healthy orchard of macadamia trees. We had no troubles with the road in a 4x4 rental, but could see a basic passenger car being a little too exciting if there’s heavy rain.
Olivia was very helpful whenever we had questions about the place. We definitely hope to be back.

First Class Accomodation
Great location in an out of the way corner of the Big Island. It made a great base for our adventures. The Cowboy House had all the comforts of home. A small plumbing glitch was corrected quickly and efficiently.
Hike down to Pololu Valley to a black sand beach or just enjoy the outstanding views from the top of the Valley. Hike to King Kamehameha's birth place. The local Kamehameha park has a pool, tennis court, basketball court, a gym and a small golf course.

Please purchase vacation insurance. Maximum Rental period is 3 weeks unless you have stayed at this location before. If a stay is booked for more than 3 weeks, there will be an additional cleaning fee of $150. There is no refund if you cancel within 60 days of your stay. So please purchase vacation insurance.
